My sweet Olive is no longer with us, but I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful Northwood was…read morefor us. The owners and staff were so caring and professional, going way beyond what I would expect. I moved back to High Point when Olive was 2 years old, and remained with Northwood until she passed at 14. When I lost Olive, I also lost many friends. Due to travel and health issues, I no longer have pets, but hope to (God willing) sometime in the future. I am amazed that anyone would have a negative review about Northwood. They were always up front with me about treatment, medication, etc. They fit Olive in whenever needed, and even gave us a break on certain treatments. They were fair and honest. Can't get any better than that. I wouldn't go anywhere else. These folks are the best!

Pricing is ridiculous here!! My friend adopted a cat and took it here for an initial checkup. All…read morehe wanted was vaccinations, fecal check, bath and nail trim. He was told they don't really do baths, (what??). They didn't do a nail trim, didn't do a fecal check (owner was told to bring a sample back instead of just using a fecal loop right then??). So for vaccines ONLY it was over 300 bucks. Thats highway robbery on top of being unprofessional. What kind of vet can't do a fecal? Then...stool sample brought in and owner was charged 20 bucks for an "expedited in house check"? Vets NEVER send out a fecal!! It's been 8 hours since sample was dropped off, still no information, so how is that expedited? I'm a person that did the fecals in a vet's office-it takes 5 minutes tops. So for a fecal check it was 75.00!! I've never heard of paying more than 20 for a fecal and that's high. This place is a rip off and I think they took total advantage of a new pet owner. The expedited fee at the very least should be refunded. *updated to add* When my friend called to check on 'expedited' fecal 2 days later, they LIED and said they had called and spoke to his wife, (who passed away 3 years ago). LIED!! What kind of business is this??

I am beyond mind blown at the situation we have experienced over the last few weeks…read more We took our dog in to see Dr Beck because we believed she was limping due to a broken bone. He took 2 scans, told us it was a broken 4th metatarsal, and sent us home with medication. 2 days later, I took her back as there was no improvement. He did 2 additional scans. However, since we are not allowed in the building and they use an archaic system of handwritten notes and minimal communication, he took a picture of the scan with his phone and brought it outside to me. He told me there was a crack in the bone and showed it to me. There was also concerns about what looked like a completely severed bone in the scan. Turns out it was someone's finger who took the scan and we all laughed it off. More meds, and sent home. Another 2 days passed and she was not improving, we took her back for a laser treatment. He told my husband that our dog was playing us and she was completely fine. Even brought him inside to see she was faking. He did tell me that she had an orthopedic issue on her knee and he doesn't do orthopedic. I contacted another vet who does orthopedic and took her in to see them. I requested that her records be sent over and they were a mess. There is no proof that we have ever given her heart worm or flea and tick even though we purchased it from Emerywood. All of the notes are handwritten and hard to read. But worst of all the second set of scans is gone! They either didn't save them or deleted them intentionally. They told the new vet there was only one set of scans. I called to tell them that is not true and Dr Beck thought he was in the phone with someone at the vet... and started talking about me like I am making this up and he had already talked to me about it. I was so confused and told him that I remember a second set of scans, he again said nope and sent the original scans again. The new vet has now seen our dog 3 times, sedated her to take 20+ scans of her and is now keeping her overnight as 3 weeks later she has gotten nothing but worse. They said her toe was never broken, that there is no crack on the scan. They also said it is possible that the limp is actually due to an infection. She has been running a fever for weeks, cannot walk at all, and is refusing food and water now. She sees a specialist tomorrow and I am praying that it isn't too late to fix whatever this issue is. I'm so glad someone finally listened to us and recognized that we were not being dramatic and the dog is not faking anything.

I'm very particular who my pets go to see, and have had some awful experiences in the past. I have a very fearful, but non reactive large breed dog, and they are wonderful with him. The vet/vet tech came in, and sat on the floor with him, and he doesn't even take treats from "strangers". I was genuinely shocked when my dog approached her and allowed her to pet him. They recognize my dog when he comes in, and have outstanding customer service. I also bring my cat here, but he's very easy going and loves people, so he would be happy anywhere. They have always answered the phone quickly, and are always very friendly.

Fast forward to right around 4:15pm. I arrived to pick up her cat, paid, and filled out some paperwork for pick up. No big deal. Went ahead and sat down in the lobby around 4:20pm to wait to speak with the vet about post-op info. At 4:55pm I finally got to go into an exam room to wait for the vet. Great! Time ticks on. Around 5:20pm, still no vet. I was mildly annoyed but it's the end of the day. Oh well. I knew they closed soon, but wasn't sure exactly when, so I opened the exam door back to the lobby and asked the lady at the desk what time the closed. She said 5:30 and that the vet will be in shortly. Okay cool. 5:43pm vet FINALLY walks in. Super friendly and apologetic. Seems like she's had a bit of a day. So I just continue to be polite. All in all, I'm chalking it up to bad luck, but I will say, waiting over an hour and a half to pick up my grandmas cat was exhausting and I don't know if I'll ever take any of my pets there.
