Logistics there could be a bit tricky, so we really wanted someone who new the location. Are we glad we did! From beginning to end, the process could not have been smoother. We worked primarily with Shelley, and she really made the entire process, from planning, to more planning, to more planning, to even more planning still, to deliveries, to pick-ups, to clean up, to our final dried and framed bouquets, a breeze. She was really patient with all of our questions and changes. In the end, the flowers were PERFECT! They did an arch for the ceremony, lanterns for the aisle, flowers for the tables, wedding party, and even strung bistro lights outside for the reception. They had plenty of good ideas, although it really was my wife's vision, and they made it come to fruition with precise execution. The end results were stunning. He understood exactly what I was looking for, and created a sample bouquet for us to see. We were married at the Stone Mill at the New York Botanical Garden, and when we arrived at our wedding we were blown away by how incredible the flowers complemented the venue. My bouquet was so outrageously beautiful, and perfectly matched the floral archway we were married under and the stunning centerpieces at our reception. From the minute we started talking with Flavio, it became clear that his style was different. He was more a "fade into the background and make this our party" style. That's not to say that he didn't take on a huge role in coordination of things like the special dances and announcements. Just that he didn't make it his show. The party had a great energy. The hi-light was really the dancing at the end. We wanted a huge dance party and we definitely got it! The lighting was also terrific and fit the space really well. Their Liaison was particularly difficult to work with and when I tried to talk to someone else that was involved with the Church she called me and said she found it "Hilarious" that I tried to complain about her... not very professional. They also require someone to be at the stone house during the event which is more than fine, but the man was wearing a tank top and ripped jeans... So that also stood out to my guests. Overall, my wedding was wonderful but I feel that It was that way because of the friends and family that helped me and not so much their staff.

Having worked in the wedding business most of my life I've been to hundreds of weddings. My father was a wedding photographer and I was a wedding planner at a venue. In all that time I cannot remember having such a perfect experience. Sarah, Claudia, Debbie, Tori and there staff were the loveliest people I've ever worked with. My (now) husband and I wanted a "generically Christian" ceremony, one that would appeal to his Catholic family, my Protestant family, and our personal, nondenominational, views of religion. I was concerned, at first, that Modern Ceremonies looked too "humanist" or too "modern" but Dorothy immediately put our concerns to rest. She sent us multiple ceremony transcripts in a variety of Modern Christian versions for us to work with and personalize. Whenever we weren't 100% comfortable with wording Dorothy worked with us till we had it nailed down. The result was a completely original, utterly personal, and deeply meaningful service that Dan and I felt really represented us and our feelings, and which moved everyone in the audience. Dan and I had decided we wanted a "spice ceremony". We didn't have much information on it, aside from pouring spices in layers similar to a sand ceremony. Dorothy was, again, amazing. She wrote a very unique ceremony, and researched the symbolic meanings behind spices. What she helped us write went above and beyond. Dorothy was easy to work with and so very efficient. Throughout the months prior to the wedding, she kept in touch via email, and she was always available to call. She kept us on track with email reminders, such as when to file our marriage license. Once the wedding was complete, she filed our paperwork right away, and we got the license back in record time! Dorothy has a wealth of knowledge, a warm, calming presence, an efficient attention to detail, and a genuine love of seeing people happily joined, and of helping them create the perfect day. She made our wedding ceremony beautiful.

I recently went back with my son and a friend for opening weekend. It was a low-key visit, but I was reminded how lovely the grounds are. I finally got to walk through the Rosen House--it's full of charm and history. The Sunken Garden was especially calm and relaxing. We had just been to NYBG, and while Caramoor is smaller, it's just as scenic and serene in its own way. Hoping to come back soon for a concert at the Rosen House--it seems like the perfect place to enjoy live music.

It seems there are three places for a concert, a main stage with seats under a tent an outdoor uncovered grass space and a courtyard that is partially covered. Not a ton of food options (maybe you can bring your own picnic stuff, not sure) but drink options. Definitely caters to an older crowd but sort of a very small version of a Tanglewood or a Ravinia near Chicago.
