I have acute muscular issues. I had my left shoulder rotator cuff repaired, and my right shoulder fully replaced with metal and plastic. Jason never stops. He addresses all the DEEP issues, until he releases the true muscle issues on every point in my body. He often is huffing and puffing as he releases MY issues. He gets a true work out working on me. We have tried a lot of massage places in Lamorinda, and this is by far the best, perhaps even the best in the East Bay. The style is shiatsu, which is done fully clothed and uses firm, intentional pressure and stretching rather than the oil and long strokes you'd get in a Swedish massage. It's a different experience, and for me, much more effective. I leave feeling like my whole body has been reset. It's not just relaxing--it actually works out tension in a way that lasts. If you're looking for something that goes deeper than just a soothing experience, I can't recommend this enough. I hope they stay here forever! read more

I had my first massage at Total Reflexology Studio recently, which was so enjoyable that I went back again a few days later. I got a 60-minute foot massage both times, and both were heavenly. The massage starts with a hot water soak for your feet while your face and scalp get a mini massage. The rest of the hour is focused on your tootsies and legs. Pretty sure I fell asleep both times, which is partly because the chair is sooo squishy and comfy. All this for a very reasonable $50. I saw another reviewer who wasn't thrilled about the fact that the massage therapists answer the phone during your massage. That's true - if both therapists are working at the same time, one of them will answer incoming calls. It's at most slightly distracting, but given that this is a very small operation and (again) low cost, it didn't seem unreasonable or objectionable to me. read more

Called on Saturday for a Thursday at 2pm appointment. I scheduled a 90 minute back, legs and foot massage. Was told it would be $80 cash. Arrived to find they had no record of me and had no availability. Checked the number I called and it was theirs. Asked if I had somehow got booked in another time. They had no record of me. They do a great job for a very reasonable price. I see that some reviewers are complaining that they ask for a 20% tip and only take cash. They are running this operation on a tight budget and would have to charge more if they had someone to answer the phone and make appointments. My suggestions is, charge more and let the customer decide how much to tip. If you want special uninterrupted massages, better to go to a place that charges $100 for an hour massage. This is a great deal! I've never been disappointed. I take my 97 year old mom, who has extremely limited mobility, for a foot rub every couple of months and Mr. Li is extremely thoughtful and careful with her. She has chronic edema and Mr. Li does an amazing job of reducing the swelling. read more

I was so pleased to find this service in our neighborhood. My husband and I have been here twice for the 60-minute foot massage, which is only $40 per person and absolutely amazing. If you get the foot massage, you start off on the massage table, and they work on your body for 30 minutes. Then they move you to a reclining chair, cover you with a warm blanket, and soak your feet in warm water while they massage your skull. Then they spend 30 minutes on your feet. We were in heaven. We both get serious knots in our back and neck from stress, computer work, and sleeping around our kids. After our last visit, I was able to fully turn my head to the side and look all the way up for the first time in months. I also felt like I could breathe better, and I had a great night's sleep. Definitely one of the best massages I've ever had. No, this is not a full-on spa experience. The massage is done over your clothes, so do wear something comfortable. And each time we were there, the phone rang once, and someone did stop in to make an appointment. Since this is a small business, one of the masseurs had to stop to take the calls. But all of that was easy to forget when they resumed their work. And aside from these minor interruptions, the studio is very peaceful and quiet. The lighting is dim and natural, and they play relaxing music. The low cost just makes it all the better. They take walk-ins, but I recommend making an appointment. We saw the same two gentlemen both times, so I think they may be the only ones who work there. And yes, they are Chinese, so it's not always easy to understand them. But so what? But I'm way too cheap to shell out 70+ and hour for a crappy massage. This place is amaaazing. An hour of head/neck/back and then foot reflexology is $40!!!!! Did I mention that they are AMAZING?! If you are like me, and love hard massages that you can actually feel- this is the place. They can also massage gently if you're down for that. Great hands, great service. Clean, quiet, professional, happy, not sleazy, reasonably priced. I think spending more to get more of the back massage is well worth the price. They seem to genuinely appreciate the business, so that makes me happy to give it to them. But what will make me return is the skill in the massage. I'm a runner and my knee was aching because my IT band is really tight and effecting my leg. After the massage here, the aching was gone. Whenever I am exhausted, aching, and tired, I make an appointment at Total Reflexology. Lili, Jason, and the other health practitioners offer pressure point bodywork that helps revitalize my energy and soothe the pain. My favorite option is the combo which combines 30 minutes of back and leg work while lying on my stomach on a massage table, followed by 30 minutes of feet reflexology with a short foot soak and face massage. The combo cost $40 plus a 20% service charge. The pressure is firm, which I really appreciate. They will target specific areas if you ask them. For my body it takes about 24 hours to reap the full benefits, thus the day following my session I feel terrific. This is not your typical spa massage venue. Patrons remain fully clothed, except for shoes and socks. Three tables are separated by draperies and the three reflexology chairs are separated by fabric. Jason speaks English, Lili and the others speak Mandarin. Everyone is very friendly and caring. Reservations are strongly recommended. A great plus is that they are open everyday, including Sundays. I wish they took credit cards or at least VISA. Moraga residents are fortunate to have such a talented reflexology practice in town. I'm a huge fan. read more

I have been going here for two years. Now I will tell you why I'm never going back. 1. Hard to make an appointment, no one speaks English. 2. They answer the phone while giving a message. 3 On my last trip they made me pay 20% tip. This tipping thing is new, I give 10 to 15 %, depending on the service. We made an appointment for 2 people, the #4 (60 min massage, 30 min foot massage). Upon arrival, they had not written our reservation done and told us we could only have 60 minutes instead a total of 90 minutes. After after attempting to negotiate back and forth, we left due to them being unwilling to accommodate for their mistake. Poor customer service, huge language barrier. I've had regular -- often weekly -- massages and reflexology for 30 years and am particular about who I see. Usually, I find one exceptionally good massage therapist and stick with them, but after "losing" first one, then another Berkeley massage therapist to (their) life changes, in desperation one day I checked yelp! and ended up at Total Reflexology Studio. Five stars, definitely. Simply can't beat the price. But more than that, the owner and his family (at least, I think the people who work here are all family) couldn't be more accommodating and eager to please. But finally -- and most important -- they do exceptionally good work here. I don't get a massage to simply relax and feel good. Sure, I want that -- but I also want deep relaxation, rejuvenation, rebalancing and detoxification. I find all of that here, and more, at an unbeatable price, easy parking, pleasant environment and ready availability for last minute appointments. No one will be happy with every service, but I do think it's telling that the only reviewer who was critical of this place didn't actually get worked on. It was probably a miscommunication -- English can be an issue and given that my Chinese could use some brushing up, I often don't really know what we're saying to each other. But their attitudes are terrific and with smiles, nods and reasonable attitudes, we always manage to communicate and I always leave feeling gratefully, completely de-stressed. read more

Love this place. My boyfriend and I came here last night for the second time. He had the full body and I had the foot reflexology. Both of us were sore and in need of so e relaxation. Lili and his coworker treated us very well. They massage you with your clothes on and believe it or not, they really use the pressure points to relax your tense muscles. The foot reflexology is now my new fav service. They start by massaging your back and neck for 30min. Then they transfer you to a reclining chair, soak your feet in warm water and massage your head and neck. Then for about twenty minutes they massage your feet and legs.
