Was denied service because of my barely expired DL, and was told it would be illegal to sell to me. According to TABC "A store, bar or restaurant chooses whether to sell alcohol to a person with an expired driver's license, a foreign passport or other ID. What's acceptable is a matter of that establishment's private business policies. If the customer is obviously over 21, the establishment may not require any ID." It's fine if you choose not to sell to me based off of business policy, but please don't mansplain Texas Law to me. Allen Liquor 4U was happy to sell to me and will be getting my business from here on out. read more

The guy who came up to me and my friends (who are all over 21) was extremely rude and was checking to make sure we all had our ids which we understand because we do look younger. He then asked two more times that we were over 21 and had our ids. However,when he asked if we were shopping for anything specific i said we were trying to be cost efficient and he replied and said yeah yall dont look like yall have established jobs... This shop is set up just a little differently then some of the other stores. That's ok since this will be my new go to liquor store. I came on opening week and most of their staff is from other stores to help the new employees adjust. I received a free bag of items nice touch. It contained some magazines and a cork/cap remover. Also some coupons I'll never use valued at $50.00. I liked the bag best! They actually had my favorite whiskey in stock. I sure hope this is not a tease. This has been our liquor store of choice since they opened, but it's not primarily because of location. The staff is always helpful and the cashiers pleasant and accommodating. In stock has never been an issue. Today we had a delivery from the store and although it was prompt, there was an error. They pulled, and therefore delivered, the wrong item. I called the store and spoke with one of the managers, Randy. What he did to fix the error was absolutely above and beyond my expectations. Randy, it's quite obvious that you truly understand the importance of exemplary customer service. Thank you for taking care of the issue so quickly! Great selection but wow employees are super rude. If you're 21+ but look young you'll be made to feel like you're doing something wrong when you check out. I went with my friend and we're both 21 but when we showed our ID's the cashier made a big deal about verifying our identification and management got involved asking us when our birthdays are and how old we are, holding up the line. I see why ID's are taken so seriously but I've been 21 since February and my friend turns 22 in a few weeks- they can be nicer to young adults (who are 21+ of course). Our vodka and "*ex on the Beach" shots were very good though. I wasn't aware of the policy about manager approval. Looking for an item widely out of stock in the area. Hacked on line; said they had it in limited supply. Called the store; spoke with Angela. Told her what I was looking for. She went away and came back to report that they have 12 bottles. Great, I said; I'll be right up. Drove 15 minutes. Can't find it. Ask staff for help. Oh, yes they say...we've been looking for a missing case of that all day! All,day. 20 minutes earlier Angela reported that they have 12 bottles. I'm sure that she just checked her computer which showed one case in stock. Lazy. Where had Angela been as the other staff seemed to know that a case was missing? So, I came in right after they had their grand opening. I received a free 6 bottle wine tote and coupons for wine tasting classes. This store has all the things that "wow" me about a total wine. First, all the wines are by "grape". You can peruse the aisles of your favorite wines. I like Pinot Grigio. When you did find your favorite wine type you can find special tags that label staff picks or best selling brands. There are also tags that show special pricing. The liqueur section of the store is divided up by cordials. There is usually at least one associate on each aisle to point you in the direction of your beverage selection. Also, there are many distributors giving samples of their spirits. The beer selection is immense. Don't let this scare you, usually you can find an associate nearby. The hubby is always on the lookout for Franconia Maibock and a beer ambassador told me when it would be available. The checkout lines are short and there are plenty of boxes to safely tow your beverages purchases safely home. read more

Total Wine is awesome. I underestimated the size of this place; it's a liquor haven to say the least. There's a ton of variety and the layout was easy to follow. I especially loved that I could browse online, view if an item's in stock or running low, and know exactly which aisle I'd need to go to to find it. It's a seamless and simple experience. You HAVE to work on your customer service!!! I had a similar experience as others. This was a while back. I went into the store with my son (who is 6'3- but 14 years old). Went to check out and the woman denied me service because my son didn't have his ID, so although I had my ID because my son didn't have an ID she wouldn't sell me the alcohol. It was embarrassing and I was made to feel as if I did something wrong. I totally could have made an issue of it but because my son was there I didn't. When I got out into the parking lot I called the manager and asked why did this happen he explained (as they have in other reviewers post) that they adhere to very strict guidelines as to how they ID people. He said even if someone under age were to come in and buy a soda we wouldn't even sell that to them. I said well I seen someone in there with their 5 year old son- the cashier didn't ID their child or expect him to have an ID. They still sold alcohol to that woman. He said weeeellll at times we leave it up to the cashiers discretion. Let me say, anytime you start leaving things like that up to someone's discretion I feel like it can become very problematic very quickly. I asked him if I came back in solo and bought the alcohol would that be an issue and he said no. The cashier that I went up to, to check out this time was very nice to the gentleman in front of me but as soon as she seen me her demeanor completely changed, she was very rude, didn't smile or greet me at all. I figured she thought I was some under aged girl trying to buy some alcohol. Until she seen my ID and seen how old I really was. It's unbelievable how rude adults can be when they think your a kid, but how quickly they're attitude changes when they find out you're almost FORTY years old. Look, I get it if your rules are to ID everyone. But there's a professional way to go about doing it- and here's an idea why don't you just ID everyone at the door???? Wouldn't that make more sense, than to wait until they're checking out to tell them you won't service them.m or make a huge seen about looking at their ID. And here's the kicker.....I've done pick up with you all twice before this incident and NEITHER times was I asked for my ID and my underaged children were with me one of those times. No ID was asked for them either. I'll never go back to this store- not because of the fact that you ID everyone it's how the situation was handled. DO BETTER!! read more

The layout was a little different from other locations I've been to but they had all the right things inside. They have a great selection of local craft beers, which I was really glad to see. On December 29th, my boyfriend and I went to this location to buy a bottle of wine and whiskey. The gentleman that helped us locate the specific bottle of wine I was looking for was very helpful and knowledgeable about red wine. If it wasn't for the blatant disregard for quality customer service that follows, I would be posting a positive review for the selection available and helpful floor staff. We walked up to our cashier who asked for IDs. My boyfriend gladly provided his as he was the one purchasing. When asked for mine, I told her I wasn't buying anything and that I had not brought my ID in, but gave her my DOB. She then asked if we were married, as we're not, we said no. She then said she couldn't sell to us if I didn't have my ID. I've never had this problem before, but I understood the logic. We said ok, we'll be back with my ID. We go back inside, ask a different cashier if she could help us because we had just been in but I needed to grab my ID. She said politely said ok, and left to pick up the merchandise we planned to buy. A few minutes later a manager comes by and informs us that we had been "banned for 24 hours" because we were refused service. I had my identification and proof of age. No one said we'd be "banned" after we informed them we would be back. I've explained this situation to multiple people who all agree this entire situation was outrageous and poorly handled by management.If only I'd lied and said I was married, this wouldn't have happened. Shame on the both of us for being truthful and honest. I'm unbelievably disappointed in the service provided by management here. If you're thinking of stopping by for a nice bottle of wine, be sure you're with a spouse or have your ID! Even if you come back with proof you're "of age", you'll be banned. What a joke. read more

Worst first experience... I was of age to buy and had my ID to purchase some wine for a Christmas gift. My girlfriend who was with me and is of age forgot her ID.
