I get great service on the phone from one lady only to get a total flake on the next call. What's with that? COVID-19 curbside service is fairly fast and easy (5/12/20 & more recently on 6/16/20). Just park at one of their designated signs and follow their instructions - either text or call I think. Pop the truck or unlock swing your Jeep gate like me. Show them your ID through your window. I just feel after reading these reviews and the response of the company you think that they'd figure out that their policy makes zero sense. If you REFUSE SERVICE to people for not having an ID you should card them when entering. OR at a minimum put a sign stating your policy. Why embarrass your customers by having them wait in line and then be refused over someone in their party not having an ID. I went to total wine today and was just refused service after trying to buy two mini shot bottles for a Father's Day present. My sister had driven me but did not have her wallet with her and we were refused service. This is ridiculous. Jeff and Eric helped me and for that I am extremely appreciative. The issue I ran into is that I don't drink but, I cook and marinate with alcohol often. What comes with that is I am familiar with the various types of alcohol and brands but, not true flavors... Jeff helped guide me to a Burgundy/Pinot Noir that wasn't so pricey that I felt I would be wasting my money - because 2.5 cups was needed in my coq au vin recipe but, yet quality enough that I wouldn't be embarassed to serve the remaining wine to my significant other. I ended up with a Ropineau Pinot Noir and combine with a 1/4 cup of Courvoisier, the meal turned out fantastic. It is because of their service excellence that I will return and make this Total Wine location my go to destination for all my needs. Thanks, guys. Yes, yes, and yes! I stopped by this store as an impulse as I was curious if they had any mezcal. Wowza! Not only did they have what looked like an endless selection of mezcal, they appeared to have an endless selection of every other type of liquor as well! EVERYONE was friendly, smiling and genuinely looked like they loved being at work. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable about their products and they even have wine tasting events you can attend! I decided to ask one of the gentlemen working if he could recommend a wine I could try. He asked about my preferences and I swear, that was the most delicious wine I've ever tried. Ordered a delivery, when the driver showed up at my door he had a attitude and it was only 10am , he wouldn't leave the package because the person who ordered it wasn't home and the driver would not take my license for receiving the package. Quoted from the letter I sent to the owners of the company today: I attempted to complete a $227 order today (referenced above) but, due to the confusing and inefficient Internet User Interface and company policy in place for third-party order pick-ups, I was forced to cancel my order when the staff at your Long Beach, CA location would not allow the "Store Pick Up Person" designated on my Total Wine Website profile to pick up my wine, which I had already paid for, despite the fact that he had a copy of the order and a copy of the text informing me that the order was ready for pick up. They told me that due to your "anti-fraud procedures", I had to designate a third-party pick-up authorization for each order, or call in an authorization with your customer care unit each time someone else was going to pick up for me. This policy makes absolutely no sense for a number of reasons: 1. The website customer profile form where a Store Pick-Up Person is designated makes no mention of the fact that this information must be verified for each order and cannot be accessed by your store level staff and is, therefore, completely useless. 2. If you use express Paypal checkout without going to the "Secure Checkout" page, you do not get the option of designating a third-party Pick-Up Person. 3. Information provided on a secure website is deemed less secure by the store level staff than a phone call to your customer care staff which, of course, could be placed by anyone, and is in no way traceable to the actual customer who has placed the order. 4. The fact that the Store Pick-Up person has the actual text message from your company with the order number, is not an acceptable means of order verification by your store level staff, proving that your policies do not reflect the current state of digital information transfer. Instead of relying on your own secure, password-protected website, you rely on phone calls, a 19th century technology, to (attempt to) prevent fraud. 5. Most large internet-based companies allow household sharing and understand that the person placing the order may not be the person picking it up. But, the fact that your store level staff cannot access the profile information for your customers, to verify household sharing, makes this untenable as a solution to this problem. 6. The "solution" given to this problem by your store level and customer service staff was that I could just call your CSRs every time I placed an internet order. They seemed to be unable to understand that this jumping through hoops defeats the purpose of internet ordering, which is done specifically to avoid jumping through hoops and wasting valuable time. It is very likely that you have permanently lost a very valuable customer. I was raised in a household where wines were drunk on a daily basis and taken very seriously. I was ecstatic to find that you, unlike most local wine dealers, sold my favorite German wines and specialty spirits at very reasonable prices. Sadly, I will now have to find an alternate source to satisfy my love of German reds that does not expect me to navigate the antiquated policies that plague your online business model. It is my hope that you share these concerns with your marketing team and website developer to ameliorate the faulty policies that cost you my business. read more

The employees were friendly except for one employee and the manager. My sisters and I went to get a gift for our mom's birthday. I'm over the age of 21 which should be okay for my sisters who aren't 21 to be able to accompany me in the store. We entered and many employees stopped and talked to us but didn't tell us anything nor inform us about their rule. As we head towards the check out my sisters were talking and rudely interrupted by the cashier asking for our identification. As we say our relationship with one another and my sisters being under the age of 21, the cashier states with a tone of annoyance they cannot be in the store and my sister was confused and said there were no signs. She rudely responded with "well there's signs all over there place stating that you have to be 21 or older to enter and if you're not looking then they're hard to miss ." There was a singular small sign not in the entrance and in an area that's being covered by a poster so it was truly hard to miss. She called for the manager who then then stated to not bring them in here again with the tone of annoyance and irritation. My sisters walked out due to the uncomfortable they brought and looked for the alleged signs they claimed that were plastered everywhere but there was only one. My sister who was 16 was carrying a gift bag and my other sister who was 20, was carrying chocolate and candied. Their website claimed to allow attendees under 21 to enter when accompanied by someone above the age of 21. For them to tell us this was uncalled for as there were toddlers and children running around unsupervised. My sisters and I peacefully walked through the store looking for the gift causing no trouble nor handling the wine. I was the one paying and my sisters had no connection with purchasing or holding the alcoholic beverage. I would strongly recommend having a stride security and an identification check before entering the store to avoid these situations since I strongly believe they pick and choose when they want to I.D a person. read more

Let me preface this review by saying I don't know much about alcohol. However, I gain a little knowledge about it every time I visit this TW location. My boyfriend and I had a very engaging conversation with Dan! He was helpful and knowledgeable. Today's lesson was on additive-free tequilas! Some tequilas are not 100% agave. I didn't know that due to the lengthy and laborious process of making traditional tequila, some producers become impatient and take shortcuts in creating them by adding additives. They add (harmful?) artificial flavors to try to mimic all the complex flavors of a traditional tequila, and these ingredients aren't listed on labels because it's not permitted to do so. The lack of transparency unlocked a concern that I never knew I thought I would have... After this mini lesson of course I had to pick up an organic, additive-free reposado tequila! The Long Beach store gave me a hard time regarding a keg core refund that is automatically charged if you order a keg online, even though I have the trade in; at the Brea store, no problem. I won't be going back to Long Beach, if Brea doesn't have what I need, I'll have to go elsewhere. read more

I absolutely love this location. There's always so many workers asking if I need anything (not in a pushy annoying way) the store is pretty big and it can be overwhelming if you don't know exactly what you are looking for. I came here looking for a bottle of tequila, I don't know much about tequila and the person I was buying it for is pretty much an expert. So I went for the most expensive bottle (was extremely expensive) and a worker stopped me and said we have something better than that and for a lower price. So they aren't just here to take your money. I come here often because I bake a lot with alcohol and pick up things for that and I'm always grabbing bottles of champagne for birthday gifts And get togethers. Thank Goodness for Total Wine! I like Total Wine. I have become a regular customer since the pandemic. Due to health reasons I do not go inside businesses and haven't been inside a business (except FedEx to drop off and get receipt) since March 2nd of 2020. So I go on line and order my stuff. I save all of my regular items on a list. Drop them in my cart, and do stuff in my shop for a while. Next thing I know, I get a text saying my order is ready. So I jump in the car, drive over and park. I tap on the phone to let them know I am there and open the back of the car. A friendly person comes out and checks my ID, and puts all my stuff in the car. I'm on my merry way (Christmas pun) :) Total wine has a great selection of beverages. I normally purchase red wines and beer. They have my personal favorite everyday beer - Corona Premier. They also have a nice selection of moderately priced wines for everyday drinking and a grrrreat selection of wines for special occasions. They have a special group of wines called "Mix 6" where if you pick six bottles in that group - you save some CASH! I Typically arrange my basket to save a few bucks as there are some pretty good wines in that category .Stag's Leap Syrah, Fess Parker Syrah, and OZV Zinfandel to name a few. The BevMo near me is small and I have never been satisfied with the limited selection of wines that I have been looking for. I love Italian wine, especially Sangiovese based red wines such as Brunello Di Montalcino, Vino Nobile Montepulciano, and Chianti. This Total Wine location by far have the most Italian wine selection in OC. For Bordeaux go to Huntington Beach Total Wine, but for anything Italian this location have twice more selections than HB location. Can't help but notice bit of favoritism toward somewhat overrated Renieri bottles by Bacci Winery. But I scored several bottles of 2010 Casanova di Neri Brunello Di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova for $80 last year in 2020 (which goes for $240 and up elsewhere if you can find one), which is absolutely amazing vintage bottle and saved a bottle for later time in few more years. The staff here are more friendly and attentive than HB location. When I shop at HB location I would be lucky to get approached by a staff asking if I need any help. But at the Long Beach location I get approached by 3-4 staff member per visit. Maybe too attentive, but better than feeling like I'm ignored due to my superior Asian heritage at HB location. (totally kidding about being superior, like 55.9% kidding) In 2021 my goal is to reach Grand Reserve Membership (highest membership at Total Wine you can get for spending about $1700 to $2000 per year depending on what you buy) I was only $200 away from being Grand Reserve member last year due to not knowing points reset every year in January. First time here. I was impressed by the decorations and the presentation of everything. It has minis galore so I suggest checking out their stands. I was able to try every Kinky liqueur flavor because of it. I mainly went to price some things and the sale people are very helpful. I think there is everything you need in this store with so many options to choose from. I'll definitely be back. One of the most ridiculous retail experience of my life. Went there to buy two non-alcoholic beverages and was asked for ID, showed ID, then they asked for the ID of the person next to me. I was buying, not them. They said everyone must show ID to be in the store. If this is the case, they should ask for ID upon ENTRY. Finally, the manager acted like they were doing me a favor by still letting me buy the non alcoholic drinks anyway. It's been almost 2 weeks since Mom and I stopped in. The store itself is huge and can be a little intimidating but one thing about this place, ask anyone for assistance and they'll help you with a smile. We needed a couple bottles of every day Wine for Dad, something inexpensive he can have with dinner or maybe he could have for dinner. While wandering and looking, Scott asked if we needed help. I let him know what I was looking for and he suggested Radius Cabernet Sauvignon, said it was one of his favorite. Scott spoke of the taste of the wine and what it paired well with. We took his suggestion, $12.99 wasn't toooo bad. Mom and I looked around a bit more and found another wine, "Thievery", the bottle looked interesting and it was $6.99. I googled and read up on it real quick. Keyword "Bold", yep dad is going to like this wine. We grabbed a couple 6 packs of Saranac Shirley Temple for Mom (because she's a rebel without a cause) and a couple bottles of my Fav, "Jeunesse" Black Muscat headed to the register, then, next stop Home. Had to pick up 100 bottles of wine and this place was a godsend. Such a huge selection. From half bottles to single glass bottles; there's just so much selection and great discounts on volume (10-20%). The spirits manager helped me pick 100 different bottles out and the experience was pleasant and took under an hour. Normally when at Total Wine we buy a number of different items. Today it was just wine. If you watch the tags many will advise they're 'Mix-6' option. When you buy 6 bottles of wine under this option then all bottles are discounted 15%! Keep this in mind the next time you are looking to re-stock. read more

First time ordering from Total Wine & More, as I have always been a BevMo Customer. I decided to place an order here due to the great Japanese liquor assortment and decently priced hard seltzers. I placed my order online past 5pm last Wednesday, expecting my order to be ready in a day or two due to their notice stating they are dealing with a high volume of orders -- totally understandable! However, I received a text the following morning (before 8:30am) that my order was ready for pick up. Their pick up process was a breeze, you just park in one of their designated spots, text them (there is a sign w/instructions when you pull up) and a nice associate will come out to place your order in your trunk. Visited this location to purchase a luxury bottle of tequila for a gift, when asking a worker if I could see a bottle from the locked case they said only a manger could open the case. Understandable. Waited for the manager and then she says they can't remove bottles from the case unless they're taking it to the register for purchase..... so I'm not allowed to see what I'm buying before I have to pay for it??? We were allowed to walk through the store, ask questions, and get to the register before being required to provide ID. This was not an issue in the past. It happened this past Saturday. I'm a member and I was buying the alcohol; no one in my party was purchasing except me and my partner has a valid ID but it had expired. The issue wasn't because of the information; it was after the fact. One other person in my party was behind us looking at the whole interaction the young lady who helped us had asked her if she knew us; which she responded she did and proceeded to spread her opinion that she needs better friends because my partner's ID had JUST expired. Teresa the one "working" the cash register could care less about assisting us when we asked if they had the Woodford bourbon infused black cherries. She looked like she just wanted to charge us and move on to the next customer. I placed an online order yesterday for 7 bottles of wine. I received an email confirmation that it would be ready for pick up the next day. My boyfriend offered to pick up my order so I called the customer service line listed on the email. I called (855) 731-5678 and spoke to a representative and asked If I can have someone pickup my order. No problem, they said... They asked for his name and telephone number to add him. He would just need to show identification in order to pick it up. Today, he shows up to pick up my order. They denied the request and informed him that I would need to call the third party customer service line to add him. My boyfriend calls me to notify me of the problem. I asked him if I could speak to the store rep so that I could explain that I already called but they refused to talk to me! I called customer service again and explained what happened. The customer service rep did verify he was added to pickup my order. He placed me in hold while he called the store.
