He suggested Carmen Reserva Frida Kahlo Cabernet Sauvignon Chile 2023 & Organic Arbol De Vida Malbec Argentina 2024. The cabernet had a 91 rating from the Tasting Panel, but the malbec didn't have a rating, as it was a new item. Seeing how it's made with organic grapes, and malbecs are usually good bottles of wine, I chose the Organic Arbol De Vida Malbec Argentina 2024. Organic Arbol De Vida Malbec Argentina 2024- Lovely bottle of wine. Each sip had berries & plum, plus the pucker from expressive tannins. I'm not a wine connoisseur, but I found this particular malbec approachable and non-offensive. However, I'd choose a bottle of bourbon or sake, any day of the week. 1 cent for a bottle of wine? That's cheaper than Boone's Farm! Total Wine wanted to get me nice & toasty on the cheap for my birthday, treating me like a cheap date. I was overcharged today for a bottle and unfortunately I was in a rush and didn't realize it until I got home. I was originally told the bottle was $17, but I was charged $20. I wasn't given a receipt, and the cashier never rang the item up he just said "that will be $20 dollars" and didn't allow me to see the tax added because he never put it in the register. He simply took my money and pretty much scammed me. When I got home, I checked California sales tax and how much the bottle is online. I KNEW that was too high, I realized that $17 plus tax should not have come out to $20. I also later found the same size bottle online for around $11, so the prices at Around the Corner Liquor are very high or he just made up what he wanted to charge me. I don't drink often, so I don't normally keep up with alcohol prices, and I feel like I was taken advantage of especially because he could clearly see that I was in a hurry. If you shop at Around the Corner Liquor, make sure your items are actually rung up, that you can see the price of each item, and that you receive a receipt so you can verify exactly what you're being charged. Being told one price and then charged another without an explanation is bad business. Shame on you!

Another time the tall slimmer guy tried to short change me a few bucks, luckily I caught it but afterwards that I just pay exact amount since he can't be trusted. Even though Palm is closer and convenient I'll be taking my business else where. Dealing with these rude/shady employees they won't get any of my money again.
