I don't often leave reviews like this, but I had such a random and awful experience here that I had to leave a warning. My girlfriend and I came in to get some drinks for dinner. We'd been here several times before and had a perfectly pleasant time with the man behind the register. We love supporting small businesses. Today, a different man was behind the counter. When we walked inside, he stared at us. It's hard to tell someone's making faces at you from behind a mask, but he made it very clear that he wasn't happy about us being there. We shopped around and put our beer on the counter getting ready to pay. We both pulled out our ID's and got ready to show him. He stared for a moment and then said "who's buying it?" My girlfriend said that she was, and at the same time I offered to show my ID as well. He then told me "no. You can go." My girlfriend asked if there was a problem and he said "just leave your ID on the counter and step away." He then made another comment under his breath and we decided it was time for us to leave. My girlfriend told him to forget it and we'll go somewhere else, while trying to put the beer back in the fridge. He adamantly told us no and to just leave it on the counter and leave. So we did, and we won't be returning. The other man had always been nothing but pleasant but this guy really ruined it for us. Update, per response from the owner: I understand that many changes need to be made in order to follow guidelines but I would like to mention that 1. Your mask was not even on correctly while we were in the store (hanging below your nose) and 2. You were rude every single step of the transaction. That goes way beyond "being safe during COVID". There is most definitely a way to follow guidelines, while also being kind (and following those guidelines yourself). In no way should anyone expect special treatment in a transaction such as this, but all people should be treated with the same respect that was shown. I have been to several business during COVID and have not once been treated as poorly as I was during this visit. I sincerely hope some safety and interpersonal skills training is implemented before returning. read more

Super Convenient if you live in the Cal State Area and don't want to have to drive to the grocery store or CVS for liquor if you are hosting a party and run out of libations - EEK!! This is the one right next to the 24 hour Kinko's off of Atherton. This is the only liquor store close to Cal State on Palo Verde that carries hard liquor and doesn't overcharge TOO much for all of it. In fact they do have specials on occasion. Candy raid before the movies are pretty good here too. Check out the dollar bin for mini liquor bottles. They also have the cutest little $2.50 Patron Bottles! read more

Easy in and easy out - that's what I love about this place. The guys that work here are nice - they have lots of selections - they have drive thru parking spots (since I can't waste my time backing out of my spot, this is perfect!, helps me get in and out of here faster - lol) - and they are located in an easy to get to spot. Be forewarned - I think it's like $1 to $1.50 to use a credit card - I've been charged both prices (but they don't tell you that or have an obvious sign up) and last time I was there, I noticed the guy rounded my "bill" up to an even number (not that the penny is killing me, it's just surprising to me that he did it). Overall: I come here when I'm in a rush (obviously) but I don't go out of my way to get here. read more

Great little liquor store that I have been coming to for my entire life. The owner and his brother are cool and give good wine recommendations. Great place to pick up a bottle of wind for a good price. However, if you want groceries, go to a grocery store - not here, its too expensive for those type of items. This liquor store LOVES to change the price on their items. I bought an Iced tea (99 cents) and I used my credit card and i ended up paying about 3 dollars for it, I asked why and he said because there was an extra charge for using plastic. I did not care at the time because I was so thirsty and I didn't have any cash on me. I went a few more times and bought the same drink but this time I had cash and it was $1.10, then I went again and now it was $1.20. I know it's only a few cent difference but let's be professional here and charge consistently. This place may be convenient but they sure as hell aren't trustworthy. Who knows, you could be overpaying for some of their things. I dont recommend going here. . . at all. read more

I went to buy a Smirnoff Peach bottle on August 19, 2017 around 7:30-8 pm. I accidentally pulled my card before the machine approved, so the clerk asked me to put in my card again to start all over. I was charged $17.63 twice basically and I'm coming back tomorrow to get some sort of refund. I'll change my review if I get some sort of refund. I'm not suppose to be charged twice. He commented I was wearing a zero shirt and no one in the store greeted me or said good bye to me when I said good bye. I also signed a paper and I didn't get a copy of my receipt. Overpriced. No wonder it looks so beat up with no funds coming in. Went to get a bottle of Jameson. The bottle is normally like $22 at a local cvs. However, there was no signs up. Owner pretends to look around, punching in random numbers. And he told me $35. Wtf! How is that $35. You will loose a lot of customers by practicing this bad business procedures. Stay away! I recently discovered this place. I live in the CSULB neighborhood, but I always avoided liquor stores that look like this because they overcharge for alcohol that you can usually get a lot cheaper at big chain stores like BevMo and Trader Joe's. However, one day, I happened to be walking past it, so I decided to stop in and see what they had. For being a small business, their prices are actually comparable to big chain stores. And they sell high quality stuff, not just overpriced bottom shelf junk. I'm not a beer or wine drinker, so I didn't check that stuff out, but as far as their liquor selection is concerned, it's pretty decent and reasonably priced. It's especially convenient if you're in the CSULB area, since there's nothing else like it that close by. I've been there twice, and both times the guys who helped me were super friendly, so I don't know why other Yelpers claim they have bad service. Maybe I just lucked out the couple times I went in. Caveat Emptor: They do charge a dollar fee for using a credit or debit card, so it's best to bring cash. I didn't mind the fee the first time I went, since I was still getting a good deal on a bottle of vodka that would normally cost at least ten dollars more at another liquor store like that. But it's best to bring cash so you don't get charged the fee. read more

It really has everything I look for in a liquor store; it literally is around the corner from my house, it has liquor, smokes, and snacks if I feel so inclined. The cashiers always recognize my boyfriend and I and are very friendly. I don't even mind that they try to sell me the tequila in a bottle shaped like a penis. Nice selection of pale ales and IPAs. Best price I've seen on Samuel Smith beers in Long Beach. Recently upgraded their cooler unit so the beer is nice and cold now. The owners (two brothers) are friendly guys who live in the neighborhood, recognize returning customers, and take the time to learn and remember your name. read more

I love this place. Yes its a little run down and old, but its also privately owned and has been there for as long as I can remember. If you like liquor and cigars there is always something there for you. My Dad comes here all the time to grab a beer and the owner knows both of us by name, and is always unfailingly friendly. I went in to buy some firewood and the owner charged me an extra dollar for no reason. I asked him what it was for and he said it was a fee for using my debit card. When I said that seemed excessive, he refused to look me in the eye but muttered something about everyone charging for debit cards. I told him I didn't know of any stores that charged that much and he seemed like he was ripping me off. So I told him to cancel the sale and walked out. This guy can not be trusted.
