Agree with all the other 1 star reviews. Had a bad experience here with friends last weekend. 2 people had their IDs one forgot hers in the car. 1 person was purchasing everything. Cashier told us since not everyone had their IDs we couldn't buy. Fine. But then the cashier made us wait until the manager came over. We asked if we could just leave we wouldn't buy anything. Cashier was extremely rude and said no you can't leave you're on camera. Um what? Manager came over to tell us we couldn't buy. Uh yeah I know the cashier literally just said that. Went to M&R down the street they are the best! Don't know why I didn't just go there in the first place. Cashier at M&R carried my alcohol out to my car for me because it was snowing. I usually come to this liquor store but Today was an unusual Experience with Manager Anthony, two steps in and I was interrogated by the man in front of customer service he was rude and not welcoming I felt harassed and stereotyped, he Demanded that I was with people that did not have their license on hand. I can't say enough good things about this store. The staff here is incredible. Everyone is super knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. If you need any kind of assistance, this is the place to go. They make excellent recommendations. They also have beer and wine tastings, some liquor tastings, and a good selection of accessories for parties and other events. You can find pretty much everything you need here and they have great selection. The only downside is that the parking lot is terrible. It's in a large plaza and it seems to be forever trafficky and overcrowded. Besides that, the store itself is amazing. read more

I've had too many experience with rude staff at this store. This guy named Matthew in particular. He has absolutely no customer service skills and does not help with anything. Usually in stores I am greeting and assisted with my basket. This individual was not helpful at all and he is not friendly. Another time a woman had an attitude for absolutely no reason at check out. Don't take stuff out of customers, it's not our fault. I feel like the younger you look the worse they treat you. I will no longer be going there because there are smaller businesses to support who actually treat their customers with respect. read more

This place is terrible. I just went on (Christmas Eve no less) in the best possible mood with my elderly father. We were ready to check out and my father went to a register that was closed without realizing it (a cashier was still there). A man told him it was closed, and without realizing I was standing there, made faces to his coworker and was talking about him behind his back. It was infuriating and completely inappropriate. How they could act like this towards a customer making an innocent mistake is beyond me and you should do a better job at hiring staff. read more

**Disclaimer: Listen, I saw South Park's "You're Not Yelping" episode, and return with some trepidation. But, with my unbiased and honest opinion in tow-(I'm not a legit, for-a-living critic, I just play one on the internet), I'm going to get this review off... Total Wine & More appears to be a large chain, but hot damn, it's become one of my favorite wine and liquor stores here in Connecticut; and I'm a wanton wine shop hopper, so I've been so many places in my life and time. Housed in a large and spacious location, replete with a really great selection of red wines (especially from Spain), whiskies, and vodka, the prices are pretty amazing compared to what other wine and spirit shops charge. I mean, when you only have to pay $2.99 for a bottle of El Prado-(a Tempranillo/Cabernet Sauvignon blend from La Mancha, Spain)-it'd be a crime not to stock up for a weekend of Netflix and chillin'; or for an arduous work week, in the event you need to drown your post-work sorrows in a large Olivia Pope-approved glass when you get home. The staff is personable and helpful, and Total Wine & More offers free wine tastings every week (as is par for the course for many wine shops I've frequented) and wine classes. Bring your ID just in case though, lest you mosey on up to the register with your bounty, only to be carded and turned away because your supple, dewy skin betrays your 30+ years. I've seen it happen... And it's disappointing to witness someone not be able to go home with their liquor loot. And I can tell by the crestfallen looks on their faces, that they need those bottles. Great place , but I went there like around 4:10 and I was in the aisle with another lady just looking to see what I can purchase . This young man who was in the aisle with another gentleman asked the lady if she needed help but ignored me . That was rude none of the two guys working the beer aisle acknowledge me. At first, I was confused by the organization of the wine, but a really nice staff member, Bill I think, gave me a tour! The wines are definitely at least $1 less than most places. The selection is amazing- they had every wine I asked about, and the largest selection of sparkling wines included cavas and french champagnes. And Bill was very knowledgeable about the types of wines. He recommended a great cava for my taste! I like to support small businesses, but I really do love this place and I am excited we will have one in West Hartford. They have both a wine tasting bar and a beer tasting bar. I'll still support my local package stores but I will stop in Total Wine from time to time! read more

Make sure to attend one of their classes. They are inexpensive, you taste a lot of different wines/beverages you wouldn't normally taste, and Rolf and Roy are amazing teachers! They are always enthusiastic and super helpful. If you are worried about the wine you are picking out always ask one of the staff members. If they can't answer the questions they will find someone who can. Really kind and helpful people at the Manchester store. The selection of wine and other beverages is incredible too! read more

Total Wines is my new favorite spot for picking up wine and spirits! The store is expansive, organized, clean, well-decorated, and well-lit. I love that they have a dedicated section of smaller (half-sized) bottles of spirits, as I can head straight to this section when I'm short on time. My boyfriend and I prefer buying our whiskey, tequila, and rum in smaller sizes as it allows us to have a more varied collection. Similarly, we also enjoy Total Wines' large selection of miniatures/nips near the front of the store: these aren't the usual, lower-quality nips you'd find at smaller package stores. We stocked up on several brands of nips we'd never heard of before. The location itself is wonderful for me, because it's a 1-minute drive from my home. But the parking situation could use some help. Anyone who knows me knows that I hate this shopping plaza's parking lot with a passion. As this isn't in Total Wines' control, I can look past it. read more

Total wine knocked it out of the park with tonight's wine tasting class. We covered Lesser Known Italian wines. We tried 8-9 wines whose bottles retail anywhere from $10-$25. We had half whole and half red. Rolf, our teacher and the Wine Manager, did a great presentation and talked about the Italian regions, culture, geography and cuisine. We got a little bit of culture with our wine! They have a beautiful wine tasting classroom and it was relaxing to spend two hours getting to know the wines and discussing their characters: nose, body, and finish. The wines selected were diverse and very interesting. I ended up buying three bottles of the wines I liked the best from the tasting and can't wait to open them up with friends and family at nice meals or time hanging out together. Total Wine reminds me of CT Beverage Mart, but even bigger & better. Extensive selections of beer, wine and spirits. They may not have the ultra-rare beers of a place like Harvest, but they do have tons of great options, including US craft brews and plenty of Belgians. Solid prices too. Nice whisky selection. I wasn't planning on buying any scotch, but it's hard to resist when most of their prices are ~$10 less than what you'll find anywhere else. Plenty of heavily discounted wines as well. It's "ok". I would say hit or miss on the pricing. Yeah they have a ton of wine but not competitive prices. I was able to get the Duckhorn Decoy Sauvignon Blanc at two, yes two, different competitor wine store's for $18.99, Total Wine sells it for $24.99. Also was able to get Duckhorn Decoy Pinot for $15.99, Total wine sells it for $19.99. So they are a bit off on their pricing. I would shop around and maybe save yourself some cash. Hey, that's a couple of cups of coffee to get your day's started. I would give it 5 starts for selection, but three for pricing. They need to be more competitive. I have also been to their Norwalk, CT location (before Manchester opened) and picked up a bottle that was hard to find so that was a plus. read more

Walked in to pick up a small gift, walked out with the whiskey I've been looking for, for over a year. My elation aside, Total Wine & More is impeccably kept, and on the day I went there were a number of tastings happening. The staff is very polite, and very knowledgeable. As I stated in the opening line, I was only there for a gift, which an employee assisted me in finding within the first 5 minutes of my visit. The store is massive, and they have quite the selection to fill the space. Given that selection, my total visit lasted another 20 minutes. They have hands down the best whiskey aisle I have ever laid eyes on. Beyond my own indulgences, they do in fact seem to have their wines in totality, and the beer selection is equally enjoyable; with seasonal displays and promotions. Will absolutely go back when I'm in CT, for a handful of other hard to find whiskeys. read more

It is a pretty big store you expect them to have the freshest beer in town but i went there today to buy seirra nevada torpedo and it was 2 months old. I went to buy Jameson's and a salesman talked me out of it and sold me Kilbran instead which literally killed my brain. Today I walked in to get 5 cases of beer and was accosted by an employee talking some garbage about how I have to have a mask on. I told her I have doctors note about not having to wear a mask. Being confrontational about people and the mask issue is going to wreck your business. Not for nothing, she threatened to throw me out of the store and that raised my blood pressure causing me health problems. read more

This is the biggest and best liquor store I have ever had the pleasure to set foot in, and I'm someone who takes my drinking seriously. So much quality stuff on offer. Chateaux Latour, Lafite, Mouton Rothschild, Margaux all here. Cognacs like Hennessy Paradis Imperial and Louis XIII. Whiskies like Glenfarclas, Bunnahabhain, and Hibiki. And even though they carry all the high end stuff, they also have a wide selection of regular staples too, at decent pricing. Impressive, most impressive. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! I am a doordash, uber eats, and instacart delivery driver. I work 10 hours a day every day and I've frequented this store enough times to consider myself a regular. On this particular occasion (jan 19th) I walked into the store with my boyfriend to complete an instacart order. Business as usual, everything was going smoothly until I got to the register to check out. The first sign of things going wrong was the lady at the register rudely asking me if my "friend" was coming back in to show her his ID. It was super cold out so my boyfriend stepped out to warm up the car while i was completing the order. I said no, this is an instacart order. At this point I wasnt even next in line, I was third back. I couldnt believe she was even talking to me and ignoring the customers currently checking out. When It was my turn in line she promptly called over a bald man, who i assume is her manager. He told me he could not complete my order, because my "friend" needed to show them his id too. Keep in mind this is my boyfriend, he walked in with me and walked out, and this was an instacart order. I told him exactly that, he said he cant serve us until 8 am the next day. After we exchanged some words, I then spent 20 minutes on the phone with instacart customer service explaining that the store wouldnt let me check out because I had someone walk in with me who then walked out. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! total wine & more, you just lost a regular customer, and I will be telling all my friends and family to avoid this store. SMH. read more

I almost hate supporting a large chain store like this, but this store is so convenient. Only bad thing is how often we find ourselves visiting! They also sell kegs of beer- a variety of beer, not only your typical Budweiser, Coors, etc. They stock a large variety so you don't need to make reservations either. read more

I have to give this location only 4 stars because the PARKING LOT is a nightmare. There are only two exits and especially around rush hour it WILL take you 20 MINUTES to leave! It is insane. The parking lot aside, Total Wine is the best. Great prices and fantastic beer selection! I love doing the wine tastings as well. Everyone is super nice and they have excellent customer service. I have always had a good experience and nice interactions with staff. The restrooms are always very clean. read more

Racial issues! I rarely have anything bad to say about this location but I have to speak up today because everyone should be treated equally regardless of skin tone. On an extremely busy day one customer of darker complexion was told to move her car from a curbside spot that had been sitting empty for a while even though there were three other cars in curbside spaces that i personally witnessed the customers go in and out of the store to shop and happened to be of fairer complexion. I've never been more disgusted and probably won't shop here again. So I used to love this place and some of my favorites no longer work here like Justin who would recommend wines based off of what dinner I was having that night. Kathy if she still works there is also great among many others when I visit. But this time some new young girl at the cash register was just simply rude. She asked for my ID which I know is the policy and it's usually scanned she just looked at it and said cash or card, I said card she said can I see it to match it with your ID. ???? Excuse me! I didn't even flinch to ask if it was a new policy as I know it's not, an ID is sufficient enough, it's almost like she was insinuating that I was a thief, or falsifying my identity. Never had this issue ever before, but I'm keeping calm because I'm buying drinks for my 33rd birthday in 2 days and don't want to cause a seen. So I dig around in my purse for a ridiculous amount of time (almost 5 minutes) just to be difficult I'm damn near dumping that contents of my purse on the counter until she said never mind, I'll let it slide, like she runs the place. I immediately pull my card out, swipe it, gathered my receipt, she steps more than 6 feet back pretty much to the next register and I gather my bags and left. I have been going to this store since it opened and some of the people know me and my face when I come in but I just never. I would hate to say this was a race issue and more of just a little child with no sense. I won't say I won't be shopping there but I just won't go out of my way to make it to this store anymore there are other liquor stores closer to me that give me less a hassle. read more

Good bits first off - The store is huge (by Manchester Standards) with decent selection of Wine, Vodka & Liqueurs. They also have occasional Wine Education & Tasting, which is great if you are into that sort of thing ... 1star is for that! But if you are there to buy something - all the ambiance, selection and prices go for toss. Attitude of staff is impolite, RUDE, unprofessional and extremely unfriendly! The first time around - me and my husband went to get some Vodka and I forgot my ID. My husband, who was paying has his ID on him and yet we were refused the drink. Inconvenient but acceptable... What is not acceptable is ... attitude of staff on our second visit. We went home, got my ID, drove back to the store and picked our drinks. When we reached the counter, this cashier SHELLEY looked at us as if we were college kids asking for free drinks and the first thing she says - WE STILL WONT SELL YOU ALCOHOL!!! No greetings, no appropriate questions - How are you today or Do you have your IDs or Did you get your IDs (No, why bother being polite with customers!) After showing ID; she dropped our bottles in the bag as if SHE WAS MADE TO DONATE HER DRINKS - AGAINST HER WILL! I would much rather prefer our regular store which has almost comparable selection of wines with a friendly, polite staff who know their alcohol really well!! read more

I went in with three friends. We look young so the manager Zach was called over and he scanned all of my friends IDs but refused to even scan mine. He just said "I don't feel comfortable with that ID". He barely glanced at it and didn't even try to scan it and refused to give an explanation as to why. Great low prices, not many places if any sell beer cheaper. They have a phenomenal refridgerated beer keg section you can go in and check out with many logs and half's in stock you can buy and take home immediatly without waiting. Highly recommended! read more

HANDS DOWN the BEST liquor store I have ever been to EVER. I'm actually semi obsessed with Total Wine. I luckily live pretty close and since it has opened, no lie, I have been there once a week every week. They turned going to the liquor store into an "experience." It's legitimately fun to shop there. They most likely have anything you could ever want and the prices are amazing. Sometimes I go in to pick up one thing and end up spending an hour looking at all of the different things they have. On top of it, they do FREE TASTINGS! Like full on, six different types of wine or beer tastings. The type where you would pay $12-$15 at a vineyard or brewery for...and the people working them have all been awesome. Each time the guy has been to coolest, educated on spirits along with being super outgoing and friendly. The spirits featured at the tastings are always available right at the bar which make it super convenient to pick up a bottle of your favorite tasting. Pretty genius marketing if you ask me. Oh you let me try six delicious wines, yup sure I'll get that random bottle of wine on display cause you just got me boozed up while shopping - two best things ever? Yup. Not only do they have like 12 wine aisles, they have a HUGE selection of cool different types of beer too. I'm a huge fan of make your own six pack. They have the biggest selection of single beers I've seen. My score on my UnTappd app is killin it because of them. The people are nice, educated, and always wanting to help. The prices are actually a couple dollars lower than other stores ( they have wine bottles for $2.99 FYI). Basically best place around. I rave to everyone about this store..to my friends..to my family..to people at work. Everyone probable thinks I'm an alcoholic now. Check it out, you won't be dissapointed. read more

As evidenced by the name itself, the wine selection here is tremendous. I'm more a fan of the Norwalk location but definitely appreciate having a store with such good prices so close by. Total Wine has an AWESOME array of champagnes and sparkling wines, even bubbly reds which aren't always the easiest to come by (thought I wish they stocked Mumm sparkling pinot in addition to the cava and brut rose!). The beer selection is decent and I left with a nice bottle of Brooklyn Black Ops. I'll probably stick to Manchester Wine & Liquors for the harder to find brews since their inventory is always so solid. read more

Never quite understand the phrase kid in a candy store until I came her. More like an adult in heaven! There is any bottle of wine, beer and/or booze you could ever want!! Not only that but the staff is incredibly helpful without being overbearing. The only downside and this isn't a real downside is that there are so many choices that it might seem overwhelming. holy hell, i was blown away at the size of this place. it's easy to navigate, the wine selection is as large as any place i've ever seen, and the beer is plentiful. it's broken up into domestic, craft, local, etc. they have hundreds of beers individually sold as well, a create-you-own-6-pack kind of thing, which seems to be everywhere nowadays. go here, if you can't find what you're looking for, it's likely not going to be found anywhere. read more
