As others have indicated, perhaps this store could have done a better job coming up with their name, as they are much more than a wine store. I didn't know that for a long time and I'm disappointed that I spent so much money buying my liquor at supermarkets. Now that I've discovered Total Wine it is pretty much my sole stop for not only wine but beer (I am incredibly non-loyal to beer brands, I like to try new beers from all of the world). I also stock up on my hard alcohol at Total Wine and have recently discovered they have a decent selection of cigars. The store is pleasant, with kind of a woodsy warehouse feeling to it. Most of the staff are knowledgeable and pleasant. The prices across the board are reasonable. They have long hours and tons of parking. Maybe the only slight downside is they chose to locate in Desert Ridge, which is not a mall that is easy to just pop in to. I think Desert Ridge is more suited to stores like Target, to the movie theaters, and to the food court than to a food/liquor store that I might want to go to for one or two items every few days. read more

This place is great. They literally have anything you may need to have a good drink or throw an awesome party. The prices can't be beat either! I thought Sams and Costco were cheap for Ketel One and I was wrong. Costco and SAMs is 36$ for a 1.75 lt where at total wine the original flavor is 29$! I'm not renewing my warehouse membership this year as Total Wine saves me even more. Obviously total wine doesn't only sell Ketel one they have everything. Last time I was here I got the coolest wine glasses that I can't find anywhere else. Overall total wine is amazing. Unbelievable selection of wine and beer - and their prices are some of the best I've seen in the valley. Plus, the store itself is beautiful inside, and it's huge! And it's very shopper friendly, everything is merchandised very well and is in alphabetical order by varietal. This is my favorite store - where else can you go in and try vodka, rum, whiskey or even beer before you buy it! What an awesome concept. I love this place...until this week. I went in on Friday because I had a $5 reward that would expire that day and I wasn't able to let that happen. So we looked around trying to decide what to get, and we happened upon the Kinky Vodka drinks. hmmm, they were $19.99 each but, if you buy two, you get $10 off. I'm thinking SCORE! that $30 for two bottles, less my $5 reward I had earned, I'm walking out of there spending $25 (plus tax on two bottles. Well...not so fast. I walked out of there paying $32.56. wah wah wah. The buy 2 get $10 off didn't ring up, so I made the cashier aware of it - and he called someone and they verified it. ok. I then asked if I could use my $5 reward on top of this - sure, says Ron the cashier. He scans it, it doesn't work, he hits all kinds of buttons on the register, the line behind me getting longer, the looks from customers getting uglier, and finally - he says, ok, did it. My total was $32.56. I had been in line trying to check out for longer than it should take, so I wasn't about to squabble about the total, but I got robbed! Where to start. This place kicks so much ass! It has everything. Way better then BevMo. If your looking for a cheap price on a quanity of beer this is your place for sure. Everything is cheaper than if it was on sale at a grocery store. Big and small bottles of hard alcohol, beer, kegs, soda, mixers, wine, hard to find unique bottels of wine all the gadgets you could ever think of. They have an aisle that has many assorted beers that you can create your own six pac or just buy one beer. I have tried so many beers from here I would have never known about. Gotta love a liquor store with shopping carts! Seriously, this place is perfect because it's so easy to find what you want and they have a ton of inventory - more than BevMo for sure. The aisles are clearly marked with the type of wine, and they provide a description for each wine. Employees provide their own elaborated descriptions if it's one of their favorites. Staff not only asks if you need help, but asks specific questions in case you really do need help but are too self conscious to admit it. If they're out of something, they're happy to see if it's in another place in the store. The prices are lower than just about any store but Costco, and they have a very wide selection of very good wines in the $8 - $15 range. read more

Received a call from someone claiming to be from this store inquiring about my custom order. When I explained that I didn't place a custom order they verified the phone number. The phone number they were trying to call contained my phone number but apparently the first three numbers of my phone number are also an area code and they weren't pressing a '1'. So they were getting my phone. When I tried to explain this I was abruptly hung up on. I immediately received a call again from this same number, and again the same gentleman challenged my phone number and again as I tried to explain I was hung up upon. This time I even requested they not hang up on me. I called this location and asked for a manager. When the manager came to the phone I expressed my frustration at being treated in this manner and was abruptly told that it wasn't that location based on their area code differing from mine. When I inquired as to why I was being spoken to in that manner, I was told that it was impossible and I was made to feel as though I was wasting time. It's too bad this location has such terrible management and such a terrible general culture as the chandler location has never been anything but polite and accommodating. read more

Great beverage depot with a large selection of wines, beer and spirits. We spent a good amount of time and money here this past weekend going to various dinner parties with friends around Phoenix. The layout is really easy to work and we found quite a few of our favorite wines at very reasonale prices, including the Bodega Norton Reserve Malbec 2006. Not the 2005, but still a darn good wine! They carried some familiar Livermore Valley wines and we even took a chance on a Sav Blanc from Chile called Anekena. At $8 a bottle it was tough to beat. They offer wine tastings in the center of the store on the weekends too. read more

I've been here two times; my first time here was a good experience. The second time not so much. I'm pretty used to getting my ID checked and the cashier/security person thinking its a fake because I look young but today was absolutely ridiculous. First off my cashier was some rude old lady with brown hair. My boyfriend made a joke saying "its because you look like you're 12" because she was taking forever to check my ID and had to grab the manager & the old lady says "its because she is". Excuse me? I don't care if it was meant to be a joke it was rude. Then her manager comes over and checks my ID for literally a second lol. She pulls out her little binder and starts writing down my birth date and my state like ITS REAL YOU SCANNED IT SHOWING ITS REAL. GIVE ME MY ALCOHOL AND LET ME BE. THEN to make it better as she was bagging my items she hands me the bag and says "you can carry the glass" and says to my bf "you can carry the bottle" like i'm 2 years old? This place is amazing. The selection is excellent. This place is second only to Hi Times Wine Cellar in Costa Mesa California. They have a great craft beer and wine selection. They also have free wine tasting going most of the afternoon Friday through Sunday. When I went they had some free tasting for some flavored vodkas as well. read more

There's not much to say about this store that hasn't already been said, but let's just say this is my favorite place to shop in all of Phoenix. I stop by here every Friday after work for one of their complimentary wine tastings. Total Wine has done so much to educate me on wine and help me discern what I like and why. Every weekend they offer a selection of 6 or 7 wines to taste, and on many weekends there are also tables set up to sample beer or liquor as well. It's nice to be able to try before you buy, and even nicer to discover new favorites along the way! The also hold (about once a month or so) a "Meet the Winemaker," where the actual winemaker comes to the store to pour their wines. While the Total Wine employees are always incredibly knowledgeable and friendly (and happy to offer recommendations based on your palette), there's just something fun about meeting the actual winemaker. I've found some of my all time favorite wines through the Meet the Maker tastings. In addition to ALL of that, they host more structured/detailed classes for a small cost. They choose a theme and teach you about French wines, or Oregon wines, or IPA beers. They teach you what to look for when tasting it, how to do it, and teach you a few things about the background/growing process of that particular beverage while sampling a selection. And while what made me fall in love with this store (and not just this location...the staff at all 3 Phoenix stores know me by name) was the education/sampling aspects (ok, and let's face it, the Cheers-style atmosphere...where everyone knows your name!), it's the selection and the prices that keep raving about them. Their selection is vast and impressive (and if they don't happen to have something, they most likely can order it for you). Their prices are always, I mean ALWAYS, less than anywhere else. Certainly far less than grocery stores or specialty stores, and nearly always even less than the deepest discounts/sale prices at the grocery stores. Even compared to the BevMo famous 5 cent sale, the regular price at Total Wine is cheaper on those same two bottles. This has literally become the ONLY place I buy wine, beer, or liquor and the only place I ever recommend to anyone else. read more

It's interesting how many reviews this location has about the rude customer service, because that's exactly why I'm giving this location 1 Star. I typically love shopping at this Total Wine, but today I had the worst experience. My friend and I went to this Total Wine to purchase a wine key, and a glass as a gift. I am 26, and so is my friend. We looked for about an hour and finally when we found our items and go up to the front, the woman asks for our IDs. I had mine, but my friend had accidentally forgot hers in the car. They have a store policy that prevents hem from selling to minors which is COMPLETELY understandable, but the way the associate and the manager handled this situation was beyond rude and humiliating. My friend agreed to leave the store to go find her ID in the car, and I handed the associate my ID- not only did she take my items away from me, but she refused to sell to me saying in the most inappropriate and rude way, "you cannot purchase anything on this store if you are not 21, you can't even enter this store." Keep in mind- I wasn't even purchasing alcohol! I gave her my ID (which obviously states I am 26) and she just yells to her manager "Don" was the name I heard. Don just looks over from the other isle and says "nope should have came into the store by yourself." I tried informing the associate that my friend was grabbing her ID to prove that she was of age, and she rudely interrupts me and YELLS, "You cannot purchase anything because she was with you and she doesn't have her ID!" A store policy is a store policy, and I understand that. But the way this associate and the manager handled that was inappropriate and unprofessional. For someone who has worked in customer service for 10 years- this location really needs some customer service help- or new management! I still love Total Wine, but this location just lost another customer. read more
