This was my first time at this restaurant and I was excited because I had already looked at the menu and there were lots of exciting options. They seemed to be short-staffed, but everyone was really friendly. The music is a little loud, but we got a table outside and it was a little bit better. I only had the chicken and goat cheese salad, but it was amazing! The chicken was tender, the pear was ripe, and the goat cheese melts in your mouth. I tried several of their items from a tomato bisque, turkey wrap, nachos, and an iced matcha. It's very important to note that they ask if you want to add milk but they don't tell you that it costs extra. The same goes for other items such as lettuce and tomato which don't cost extra at other places. The soup was not warm, the turkey wrap was wet for some odd reason, and the nachos were not as crispy as others I've had. The service was friendly and amiable and the place was relatively clean. It's unfortunate the quality of food was not good and there were too many hidden fees that should be clearly laid out in the menu. read more

My son got the BBQ burger again. Today he let me have a bite. And I have to say the meat quality is very good. They even perfectly cooked it medium rare. A little bummed we had to sit outside when it's 112 out, because you could only sit inside if you had a reservation. Who knew this lil spot did reservations. SO MAKE A RESERVATION. lol Although they do have a good fan misting situation happening I got the fish tacos and they did not disappoint. They looked so good my son stole a whole taco from me. Hello Everyone: This review is for the Tryst Cafe location in Phoenix off of Tatum. First, I would like to mention Rachel "C" was our waitress and was very attentive. Smoothie: I was in the mood for a smoothie, and saw on the menu they had them, but found out their smoothie was a powder they reconstitute so I skipped that. If you are someone who prefers fresh fruit smoothies, I only write for you to be aware of this when considering. The smoothies are $10 if you order one with any add-in ingredients adding to the cost (outlined on the menu). I ordered the Thai Shrimp Lettuce Wraps which are a combination of shrimp, cabbage, carrots, cherry tomatoes, mango, avocado, cilantro, mint, pomegranate (in season) and crispy wonton strips served with lettuce, a peanut and a sweet chili sauce for $18.75. Pros: Plenty of food to put in the lettuce wraps. This is almost enough for two people for a lighter lunch. Ingredients were fresh. Cons: The shrimp were a bit overdone because they were very small and it can be tricky not to overcook very small shrimp. Also, the shrimp were warm, but the rest of the ingredients were cold which made for an odd combination. The sauce/juice the main ingredients were served in was very spicy. I did not see on the menu there was any sauce/juice on the ingredients, but there was plenty of it on the bottom of the bowl. Therefore, the peanut sauce and the sweet chili sauce were not used because there was no way one would taste either on top of the flavors already within the ingredients. I don't mind spicy, but I draw it to your attention. If you don't care for spicy food I suggest you order something else. Overall, I would give this dish a 7 out of 10 only because of the shrimp being tough and the spice level of the wrap ingredients which the customer has no control over. My husband ordered the Chicken Tacos which consist of grilled chicken, grilled red and green bell peppers, grilled onion with a chipotle ranch dressing on top for $16.75. As you can see from the photo, this is a decent portion for anyone who is really hungry. But, hubby did not have any trouble eating all three of them! He said they were an 8 out of 10 for overall flavor. On the side of the serving plate was avocado, sour cream and a salsa to add to the tacos which was a nice touch. I recommend if you order the chicken tacos ask for the chipotle ranch dressing on the side. Hubby felt it was a little bit too much for him and he would have rather have added his own with the amount he preferred. What would have made this a five-star experience? 1. Cook the shrimp less time if continuing to use small shrimp. 2. OR: Cook the shrimp ahead of time and chill them so all the lettuce wrap ingredients served in the bowl are cold. 3. Find a balance between the spicy sauce/juice with the lettuce wrap ingredients, so the peanut and the sweet chili sauces can be enjoyed as well. 4. Serve the tacos with the chipotle ranch sauce on the side. I realize this changes the presentation because the sauce adds to the visual appeal, but if someone does not really care for the sauce, it is served over everything and in a decent layer, so it can be disappointing if one does not care for this particular sauce. 5. Have the smoothie base be fresh fruit instead of a powder. Overall, I recommend Tryst Cafe and encourage you to also try one of their breakfast entrees which we have in the past and found enjoyable. read more

Located near the desert ridge mall this place is up for all those healthy choices we make! We went in on a busy thursday, we were seated outside and there was space heaters which helped us keep warm. The service is slow with just two ladies but how wonderful are they! I went with the jackfruit bowl, my friends picked a veggie omelette The serving and presentation is really good! I didn't waste any time in diving in. The jackfruit tasted fantastic, it was saucy and juicy at the same time. The quinoa was really good too! Overall a very delicious bowl. My friend said the the omlette was decent and had a good flavor. We ended with a chocolate ganache cake, it was the best. It was warm gooey and perfect way to end a meal. A friend of mine is gluten free and had chose to eat here for lunch. I am not gluten free but was impressed to see all the items on the menu that she was able to enjoy. The service was not the greatest the server did not come to refill our glasses of water or offer refills on soda at one point my friend asked for a refill. I ordered the Creamy Pesto Penne and was very disappointed, my noodles were very over cooked and mushy and the pesto/sauce was very bland. We had a girls lunch at Tryst today. It was our first time and we all agreed that we would go back. One friend had breakfast, which is served until 2pm. One had the pita sandwich and fries. My husband, son, and I came here for dinner last night and it was really good! I think I had been once many years ago but hadn't been back. So many of the desert ridge area restaurants get crazy busy, but Tryst is more low key! We sat on the patio and it was nice, they turned on the heaters. This is the 'New York' Venue that I have been searching for over my years in Arizona. Based on very positive word of mouth, I visited Tryst on a Saturday late morning in July. After a rocky start, it took me half an hour to locate, it is amongst Businesses. However, after having 'landed' I was greeted warmly, and thereby began a truly seminal experience. I, Vegetarian, my Wife not so, found a plethora of interesting choices. I went with the Kale, Avocado, Cheese Omelet, She with the Spanish Omelet. Both superb. Her Chorizo was first rate, as were her French Fries, Wheat Toast. My Kale was not overcooked, and the English Muffin, an option, ($1), was quality. The Coffee was fresh, with an excellent 'mouth feel' of an expensive blend. The Service was first rate, Sasha, kept my coffee filled, and warm. I have been dining at Tryst Cafe for years. I cannot believe that I have not written a review yet! Honestly this was a great experience while other visits were perhaps not entirely positive. I stopped for a happy hour cocktail, snack and takeout. The place was empty at 430 on a Friday. Although it's December 23rd, there is sunshine and 67 degrees on the sheltered patio. Margarita, beer battered green beans $7HH with chipotle ranch (excellent) and a nice dose of AHHHHH. My server was friendly, knowledgeable and apparently also my bartender. Margarita $8HH was strong and classic reposado. Server checks back to I can bask in the sunny patio and enjoy my margie and snacks She answered several menu questions then took a takeout order for a Bacon BBQ Burger, medium, with sweet potato tots. I asked for the bun, bacon and sauce on the side so travel without sogginess. And later I added a small salad with their cilantro ranch dressing. Server happily accommodated it all. Check was handled promptly so the hot takeout food didn't wait for me to pay. Packaging was very careful and the bag was sturdy. Server asked if I wanted utensils. Got home with everything intact. Salad was spring mix with carrots, charred corn and tomato. Very fresh. Cilantro ranch is drinkable, it's so good. (On previous visits I have enjoyed it with the excellent steak walnut and blue salad) Burger was cooked just right for reheating at home to medium as ordered. Order was prepared exactly to my request, with the bun all nice and toasty dry on the side for assembly at home with the bacon and sauce. The sweet potato tots are the bomb!! The BBQ sauce was fine and burger had good cheese balance. Thick tomato, generous lettuce and fried onions on top. Beef quality can't be beat, and this one fed two adults at home. I also brought home a few green beans which held up surprisingly well. I thought about ordering more of the delicious Chipotle ranch dip but I refrained. Yum!! Server recognized immediately that I was a ranch gal. Lol. Other visits over the years have revealed a heavy tortilla soup, not crispy buffalo cauliflower but amazing breakfasts and coffee. First time at Tryst Cafe for a friend's birthday dinner. Quiet Sunday evening, nice patio and inside dining. It was still happy hour time so we had buffalo cauliflower and riblets. Hands down, the riblets were perfectly cooked and seasoned with a slight kick. The cauliflower was roasted and served with buffalo and other dipping sauces. Split a sweet potato veggie burger as an open face sandwich with onion and avocado. The other half was the bison burger with gorgonzola cheese, crispy onion and a bourbon sauce.
