This Total Wine store is huge, very popular among locals, always has lots of foot traffic. We went on Sunday noon to get some drinks for a house party. The look is designed beautifully. It's also tidy and well maintained. I almost a get feeling of an upscale liquor store every time I come here. As I walked around the store, I saw huge collection of all sorts of, beer, wines and spirits. It takes a while to explore each of the sections that has huge number variety. Some had really good sales on them. There were also multiple wine/spirit tasting stations where customers were served a variety of drinks. In the beer section they had some amazing options. There were a lot of local beer names listed on the wall above the coolers. I bought a mixed flavor pack of Smirnoff ice. Price was decent for a 12-pack, checkout was a breeze. The guests loved the different flavors of original, mango, apple and orange at the party. Previously I also had bought champagne and other spirits for gifts and occasions. I took help of the staff on multiple occasions as I am no expert when it comes to liquor. They have been always friendly in assisting and suggesting per my situation. read more

I place an order today. Not their fault door dash. The driver forgot one of my items in the car. Gave me somebody else's order. To my knowledge, I didn't even know what it was.My niece looked it up and she says, this is eighty five dollar order. This is rum. I don't drink them. Doordash reimbursed at me the money for the six pack. That was for my dad. I drink wine and I brought my neighbor a case of beer and some wine because he cuts my grass and he takes out my garbage, he's such a good neighbor. This place is huge. They have several different aisles of wine and beer. They even have a dedicated aisle full of ready to drink alcohol beverages. In the back they have individual cans of alcohol beverages, as well. They have a very vast selection. I'm pretty sure if there is an alcohol beverage you need. They will have it. read more

While I love this store and its wide selection I HATE being lied to by the staff. I went in to find a particular wine - Daou Cabernet they only had one bottle. That's okay it happens. However the sales rep approached me and I said they only had one. He then told me that the owner got out of the business and the new wines were called Surpaso. Well it's not the same wine. I went home and tasted it was very disappointed in this wine. While not terrible it is a totally different flavor profile. Less tannins( which I look forward to ), sweeter and less mouth filling. The person said "it's the same wine new name, I'm not going to lie to you but he did. I went online and Daou is still being produced as Daou. Just new owners. I can put up with a recommendation that does not work for me but this was a blatant lie in order to sell their own "winery direct" brands. I will never ever ask for help again in this or any of their store and I will make an effort to find someone smaller and honest to shop at whenever I can find what I want somewhere else!! read more

As you can see from my last review in 2020, this was my favorite store when I lived in Bergen County. As a Total Wine member I would usually shop here every week for my 20% off direct wine and other discounts. I still use Total Wine in other states. I was recently visiting the area. I had a 20% off 8 bottles of direct wine discount. Therefore I stopped here to stock up on some of my favorite brands of wine. The store was pretty much the same when I last visited in March 2020. Have been to this store for more than 10 years on numerous occasions with no issues I came yesterday to buy a bottle of wine, and asked a clerk where to find it. he didn't even bother to get up to show me where to go, but waved i n the direction and said it was in the back somewhere. Couldn't find the wine and went back, and clerk, again too lazy to help, referred me to his colleague who had no knowledge of where anything was and called on several occasions on her walkie talkie, and no one answered. After wasting 20 minutes, when I asked why it was so difficult to get help, I was screamed at by the second clerk who said "they were trying" at which point i walked out, went to Bottle King,where competent staff was present and was able to make my purchase and be out of the store within 10 minutes. Total Wine needs to better supervise their rude, incompetent, staff and teach them manners and about customer service. No managerial staff was present throughout the encounter. Will not be going back to this store read more

Their coupon strategy can be a good value if you stick to their website"exclusive" selections and use with every purchase. Cons: if you ask for help they want to steer you towards their "exclusive" selections. The only problem is they aren't exclusive and they are a bit more expensive. I have no problem showing my license but I don't feel that this company has the right to scan and then save all my info . When I called all the lady said was that is what we do. What a gem! You can get everything from wine, beer, spirits and cigars here... and your typical boozy snacks! I came here looking for some help with a bottle of wine, and I was met by one of the employees, Tarik. He was AMAZING in his knowledge and help with guiding me to a nice bottle. I wish this was more closer to my home, but will definitely venture out just for the customer service. Besides that great help, this store has a HUGE inventory of alcohol with competitive pricing. (I do believe I'm the only person to ask Google one autumn Saturday morning, "Where can I buy a bottle of 99 Bananas liqueur?" and they pointed me in the direction of this Total Wines.) Eureka! I do believe I found my new favorite liquor store. (I used to hit their West Orange location but that's completely out of the way and inconvenient.) I don't think I've ever ventured into the town of River Edge before but by 9:30 in the morning it definitely felt like more than half of its residents were already here to stock up. (Perhaps that has something to do with the antiquated Blue Laws that still mess with Bergen County?) You might think you keep up on what's new in the world of slops and gatter (guilty as charged!) but then you start to drift through all the aisles here and realize you don't know diddly-squat. I went in for one (oddball) bottle and left with one of their mini-shopping-carts filled with all sorts of curiosities that looked too good to not buy. Favorite moment from my first visit: one of their 'sales associates' (rocking the shirt and tie) was trying to organize and bring in all the shopping carts in front of the shop and he was already at wit's end and blasting all sorts of vulgarity to himself through his face mask. (It wasn't even 10am and he was this mad already?! Yikes!) Favorite moment on my second visit: the lady at the register actually carded me. (I'm just a few years shy of having to take Tom Selleck up on his offer for a reverse mortgage so my ego was over the moon having to pull out my ID for the first time in about thirty years!) Holy Moly, I made a wrong turn and I see this strip mall with 'Total Wine' and I say why not, am I a Yelper or not? Well, first off they should change the name to Total Everything because that's what they got. If you can drink it and it gives you a buzz, then you will find it here. Not only that but like Costco, they also got taste stations where instead of cheese or a pizza rolls you get to sip some wine for free. And compare to other places I been to the prices here are discounted on many common items like Hard Sizzler, 14.95 vs 19.95 at my local ShopRite. But they also carry the $$$$ bottles here to when money is no object occasions like Tantalus Banff Scotch at $1500 a bottle. On top of all that they got an app where you start to get special offers and deals and can just have them delivered to your house. read more

There is a parking lot but this location gets quite busy so be prepared to park further out or wait for parking. They have a very very wide selection of wines and alcohol. Be prepared to be overwhelmed, lol. We were looking for a specific wine and tried to maneuver the aisles on our own. It took a good 10mins but we found the bottle, which was actually a couple bucks cheaper than it was at another store we went to. If you already know what you want/are looking for, it is best to ask an employee to help get you in the right direction -- unless you want to spend your time walking up and down the aisles to locate what you want. Bottomline, it is very unlikely that you won't find whatever alcohol you're looking for here, and at pretty competitive prices. They also carry gift sets, mini bottles, cups/glasses, and other items to help keep the fun going with the alcohol. So sorry to give this review, for the tall black gentleman with black nail polish, and sorry for looping in the white woman with a gray bob ( at the sampling table) section. They were amazing and extremely kind and sold us multiple bottles.. go figure after what I experienced at this location. My wife had been raving about this store for a while so we came in to purchase some wine after a long day. We live in Queens, NY and drove over an hour to come here. Just to walk into what came off as a skit on reality tv. There is a gentleman white, potentially Italian, wears a walkie talkie about 6'3 who I saw get into a beige Acura, who is not really a safe coworker from what I saw. He questioned an older man who works there and has been there for a long time about taking his break longer than he should. He questioned him loudly on the floor as every customer could hear. The older man seemed to be either denying or mistakening how long he took ( which people do all the time ) and the younger gentleman started raising his voice at him. Telling him not to "bust his balls" . He walked away and the older gentleman went back up to him to say I have no idea what. But all I know is this escalated into the younger guy trying to fight the older man! He's about double his height, and was seriously pushing the older guy as if this older man was any kind of threat to him. It was absolutely terrifying. I couldn't imagine that someone his age, his height, his ability would even think to put his hands on an elder let alone another coworker. It was so aggressive I thought it was a skit. Until he later pushed the older man on the floor. I don't know what goes on in this location but it seemed to be normal behavior only the two employees I mentioned seemed concerned. I saw the older gentleman go up to the manager to get help after being pushed and the manager walked over and said "we'll looks like he's gone now" prior to him ending up on the floor which I believe could have prevented the whole thing from happening. It was disappointing to see the manager not handle the situation and to see that this younger man (older than myself, but younger than the other employee) have the audacity to even challenge someone physically he knew he could harm severely. It showed very bad customer service and has kept me concern for the well-being of the older employee. Sad to say I will not be coming here again.. but they really need to look into training their staff on what is harassment. read more
