Love this place. Affordable, wide-range of options...it's very neat. The only complaint I have is that some of the cashiers get too chatty with me, which I'd rather not entertain but whatever I guess they're just doing their jobs. I also wish that their reward system gave me coupons for the brands I typically select not these off-the-wall choices I wouldn't be caught dead drinking...or better yet, let us get a free bottle every few purchases. That's what Starbucks does with their reward system and I think it would be a lot more popular than the confusing system they have in place now, which coincidentally, none of the cashiers seem to be able to explain to you. I used to love this place and sent many friends there but a series of bad experiences has made me defect. I buy a lot of wine , beer & booze and always loved the selection (still do) , pricing , and service. Their service used to be excellent and one of the only places I know that when you asked for a recommendation would actually down sell you in price. That is an amazing thing and made me buy even more . However something has changed . The English guy who works there pretty much insulted my taste when I said I preferred one wine over another ( I'd had both and while both were good one was significantly more expensive. A fact I knew and he didn't). Then another salesperson tried upselling me , and then proceeded to lecture a woman for 10 mins about wine to the point where she had to cut him off and say she just wanted a recommendation of a Pinot not a lecture. I studied viticulture so I appreciate his enthusiasm but come on this is a liquor store. So with a bad taste in my mouth I started going to Bottle King in Dumont. They lack the diversity in the wine selection but I found their beer and booze the same and in the case of beer the selection was bigger and cheaper. Gave Total another chance once they moved to the new store. The wine area is great but I noticed again that Bottle King was cheaper on many items. Shame read more

The wine selection is great the prices are also great the customer service sucks BIG TIME when you speak to them on the phone. In person the people on the floor are a big help. But don't call in with a problem with wine they are crazy stupid. The first time I called in they took my info and the number off my check my phone and name and the total of the recipe so they could look up the recipe and she told me they would call me back. LOL still waiting. So I called the next day and talked to a girl well rather listen to her, everytime I tried to say something she was so RUDE she cut me off untill I just hung up the phone, I was getting no where with this person. She needed to learn how to listen than open her BIG mouth. So berore you leave the store check your recipe to make sure it's right. Also if they give you coupons in the e-mails it just a joke, they always have the same prices there is no discount it's just the same with or without coupons don't fall for a bigger savings it won't happen! p.s. We visited the new place after they moved across the street. It looks great! Feels like I'm in a supermarket of liquor! Ah heaven! So nice and clean and very organized. The employees are very knowledgeable. I especially like the description of most of the wines they have...very helpful when there are thousands of different wines to choose from. Went in for the first time tonight! What a great selection they have! I was in Wine Heaven!!! It doesn't get better than this. Only one thing to watch out for. The sales associates recommend wines on kickbacks to TW&M. They will try to "steer" you to the winerydirect wines and "their" choices. Usually they have not been as good as the wines I originally wanted so I do not let them recommend anymore. Other than that this is unbeatable. And on busy days they have guards directing traffic in the lot. A super nice touch. read more

I have been a fan of Total wine and more for a while now but I do not see any sale or valid coupon to use each time I shop. They tell me I can only use the coupons on series of bottle ending in certain numbers. This is not me, I like wine a lot and I prefer to buy it in bulk so I do not keep coming every day. Stopped in yesterday to stock up for the holiday season. Best wine - liquor store I have been to in awhile. Great selection and very good prices. The highlight was asking Tawfik for help. I was just looking for a particulate wine and had no idea he was the Assistant Manager. Let's just say I lucked out! Unbelievable wealth of wine knowledge who was fun to shop with. This place is huge! The staff is helpful if you have any questions. It seems like they have basically every bottle of alcohol in the world, so if you're looking for something interesting, you've got a good chance of finding it here. I'm not really sure if it's more or less expensive than bottle king, but definitely avoid buying other things like snacks here, they definitely overcharge for those. read more

They have big selections on most of things and you can get for example some beers they don't sell elsewhere. Still a little overpriced. I find cheaper (20-50%) and great selection of wines in other stores (Trader Joe's). Once I was carded for non-alcoholic beer and seeing the menacing sign "we arrest minors" I felt like a criminal (I am over 21). You don't arrest anyone guys, you are not the law. You may refuse to sell but not arrest. They told me I would be checked even for buying peanuts because they are liqueur store. I rather go somewhere where they don't threaten people in advance. Oh yeah, and their prices are usually the lowest around, although you do have to be cognizant of other places if you're looking for the basics. Have I died and gone to alcohol heaven? I am not an alcoholic but I just have those days, like everyone when I want a nice cold beer or whiskey. They have every craft beer you can think of sold by the bottle. So when you're feeling a little experimental, just purchase one of each, Netflix and chill! Now, that's my kind of night in. What is better then beer and good movies?? Some potato chips?? A nice cold, IPA sounds good right now. I might be able to make a trip there as it's so conveniently located in my town. Also, they have a huge selection of whiskeys and wines so I have definitely been expanding my home bar. I've been to this location countless of times. Normally, to purchase my usual. However, on this visit, I needed help choosing wines for a wine tasting I am hosting. Elijah was beyond helpful. He provided me with so much information on each bottle he suggested based on what I liked. He was passionate and knowledgeable when describing the product. My fiance & I went in to purchase a bottle of wine for a family occasion..when we reached the register so my fiance could purchase the bottle they asked for his ID (understandably) but then ask for mine.. which made no sense because I'm not purchasing anything..I didn't have my ID on me so the manager kicked me out.. The manager is rude & unprofessional!! She made me & my girlfriend feel very unwelcome!! We went in to buy 2 bottles & when we got to the register (I'm the one buying both drinks I had both bottles in my hand ready to pay) I told the cashier (manager) that I wanted to pay for each item separately (using cash & debit). Before even asking me if I'm a member she went straight to asking us (both) for our ID's. Mind you I come into this store almost every weekend with someone and not once are we asked for (both) to show ID.. I told the manager that I had my ID on me & I was the only one buying yet she aggressively said that because we (both) don't have our ID's she cannot allow me to purchase. We felt very Insulted and unwelcome!! We went back to my car then I (alone) came back into the store to speak with a manager (not yet knowing she was the manager) I then asked her how is it that I come into this store all the time with my mother & they never ask us both for ID's?! she then stated "well of course if your mom is with you we won't ask" yet I told her that we make separate purchases so they don't know that she's with me. She then stated that "the store's policy" is that if you're under 30 they ask for ID's. 1; she contradicted her statement because I never told her if my mom was over 30 or not. 2: When I tried to show her my ID at the register she refused to look at it so therefore she assumed my age without even confirming how old I am. I told her that none of her other employees ask for ID so they should be fired because I come into this store all the time with no problems. I then asked her since I am by myself now can I purchase the drinks? She again aggressively said NO raising her voice & made a scene. I walked away and said wow that's crazy and she deliberately showed me the exit. I thought that customers "come first" but I guess her ego was more important. This place is amazing. First of all, they have the most complete inventory of alcohol I've ever seen - far surpassing any competitors. What really makes this place special are the very helpful, plentiful and knowledgeable employees. Whenever I need help I can find an employee just steps away. To a person, every one has been extremely pleasant and helpful, without hovering. Every time I have asked for recommendations they have been spot on. Every. Time. Everyone gets a dog once in awhile, but I've yet to have that happen here. The most recent experience? I left my phone (and coupon code) in the car and parked my cart near the service counter. When I returned, the employee had looked at my cart and pulled a wine for me to try based on what I already had planned to purchase. Hear I am now, with my first pour from the recommended wine and loving it. These guys are so well-trained, it's just so nice to have customer service that knows what they're doing. Selection is great. Prices on wine are very good. Cigar humidor is well stocked and well priced. However, while their selections of beer and spirits are plentiful their prices on these items are fairly poor to downright awful. Every bottle of bourbon they carry ranges from a few dollars more to literally double the price of their competition. Same with their other sprit selections as well. When pointed out to their staff they say they will check and adjust their prices accordingly but weeks later the overcharging continues. Their beer is priced at the high end of the spectrum and they don't offer discounts when buying a full case like many other stores in the area. In the end I'll sacrifice some of the selection to save the money I do by shopping elsewhere. read more

Total Wines was highly recommend to me by a friend who knew I was having a party, needed to buy large amounts of liquor, after telling her about my online experience with another supplier with high prices which I ended up cancelling. I went online and started to compare prices and could not believe how much cheaper Total Wines was. I even took it one step further and called because I wanted to speak with someone to get recommendations and good prices. I spoke with Bianca who was very knowledgeable and gave me some great recommendations that saved me hundreds of dollars!! I placed the order. I live in Westchester County NY and paid tolls to drive to River Edge because of the exceptional customer service I received over the phone. Upon entering the store it got better as i was greeted by enthusiastic sales persons who were eager to assists one in particular was Barry who was phenomenal!!! In addition to me picking-up my order I needed to buy several cases and magnums of good Champagne. Being a connoisseur of Champagne and informing Barry of the brands we like he immediately made some great recommendations that were cost effective and left us with come change in our pockets. Barry stayed with me during the entire shopping experience, packed my car up and sent me off. He was delightful to work with. I have never been so impressed with the outstanding customer service we received that I would highly recommend TOTAL WINES to all my friends & family 100%. I ordered a keg for a birthday party I was having. I picked up the keg, no problem. I come back to drop the keg off and they say I need a deposit receipt otherwise they can only give me a gift card. The lady who checked us out never gave us a slip or a receipt of any kind and never said that we needed to bring anything with us when we dropped the keg back off. Clearly all of their employees don't know what they are talking about and they're customer service is subpar. Also if you're under 23, they can't check you out without a manager coming to enter a code. I understand that it's their store policy but standing on line for 15 minutes waiting for a manager when it's busy is just ridiculous and so frustrating. Not to mention, I hold the whole line up. Great selection. Probably the most expansive selection anywhere. Most selections have a review tagged on the shelf which is really helpful. Great deal when you buy six bottles of wine and get 10% off. Most of the price tags already show the discount as if you'll be buying 6. But be prewarned, the sales staff are very helpful, they know wine but they always recommend the winery direct brands and often try to steer you away from your favorites. Which leads me to assume they make a far better profit in their winery direct brands. I've tried many of their winery direct brands and some were good, others were not. If i could rate this place 0 star i would. This place went to the gutter. The staff here arent pleasant any time you ask them for help they are bothered. What happened to old fashion customer service? They feel as if they are better than you always pushing no name bottles of vodka or wine that doesnt taste good. My last visit the guy was trying to push some cheap bottle of wine that was HORRIBLE. I dont know who is worse the people from dealerships of these salesmen. Best Wine/Liquor outlet I have ever seen. Their selection is seemingly endless. I purchased about three bottles of wine for about 18 bucks. That's incredible.
