I do not get the poor reviews... maybe it was a good day, and maybe because I don't usually need a lot of help in a liquor store, but when I *DID* ask a couple of gents about a Washington wine I have been searching for, they diligently checked the shelves, suggested other locations to see if it was available and failing that, checked he computer for me. I struck out on that wine, but they were very helpful. As it happens, we arrived here on the recommendation by a gentleman from Walmart. Yup. You heard right. My other half asked the gent where he could get some local beer, and he suggested the back of his store - we have Keystone, Miller, Bud. Um, no. When pressed for "locally brewed, craft beer" he suggested visiting Total Wine & More - which was ever so conveniently on our route home! Lucky for us. We walked in and I heard angels sing. I literally stopped dead in the entrance. I have NEVER seen a wine store quite this size. It was packed to the rafters with cans and bottles, wine and beer cider etc. Accessories, coolers, wine charms, MORE accessories, giftware, AND a filler station for your growler. The beer section was organized alphabetically... and so too were the ciders. Wines were grouped more by varietal of grape than by country or vineyard - a little more challenging when you know the country, the vineyard, but not the varietal. I picked up some fantastic Ciders for the trip home. Thank you customs for allowing me to claim my cider as cans of "beer" since I can't drink beer, and I wasn't looking to bring home the gluten free beers, just as much of those delicious apple ciders legally allowed. SINGLES! YES, we picked up a bunch of beer (for him) and cider for me in singles so we could try more than one, since we were restricted on our allocations for customs. Be warned, it's by can count, BUT if you are bringing back oversized cans, calculate the litres/volume and then break it down by 355mL can for the count. Yeah, math. GIANT parking lot - thank heavens we were travelling in the RV, and wasn't looking for a skills challenge on our journey home! read more

Holy Sh*# this place is great! The size and selection at this place was amazing. I was hoping to pick-up some local craft beer before we headed back home to Canada. I had tried several on our trip and there is a ton of excellent US craft beer out there now. I thought I may have to make a few stops at each state we were visiting to get a good sampling of local beers from each area but Total Wine really hits it out of the park! They have a massive store with a ton of wine but they also have huge selection of craft beer and ciders from the local and other states. I was able to pick-up some great Washington and Idaho beers to try. I bought a few six packs and a whole bunch of singles so I have a good selection of ones to try. My only hope is that Customs at some point ups the number or beers you can bring across the border as it isn't big enough to bring a good sampling of so many good beers back home. Make this a must stop if you are looking to find some great local beers, ciders and wines! read more

They have a great selection of liquor and wines, but came off as super rude while I was checking out. I am young, but am definitely over age of 21. While the cashier was checking my ID she never really talked to me just straight to the point, but very uncomfortable experience when she had someone else come and look at my ID with them both staring at me making me feel like I did something wrong by being there. I think this place suits older people just fine but seemed kind of judgmental of a younger person being there. I get making sure you're not selling to someone underage, but their customer service when checking me out was extremely uncomfortable. read more

I love Total Wine and More for three main reasons: First, when I feel like drinking beer that is a step up from water, my choice is Miller 64. Seriously. I like the stuff when craft beer seems too heavy. TW&M always has Miller 64, and for a great price. Second, there are a LOT of craft beers here, and I love trying the ones I have never heard of. I have tried huckleberry ales, a couple of stouts, some ciders; you name it, if it catches my eye, I am likely to grab a six pack and try something new. The frequent tastings they have also help in this regard. Finally, the service is almost always great here. I particularly appreciate the efforts and recommendations of the folks working out on the floor. I am usually greeted with a smile, and they are always willing to share their knowledge or preferences to help me make a decision. If the cashiers are not always chipper, well, have you ever been a cashier? I have, and I can be patient with someone who has been doing a mind-numbing job on their feet for six hours. There is a decent wine, beer, and liquor selection. Compared to other Total Wine locations, however, this location is a bit lacking. This does not make up for the terrible customer service that I have consistently experienced here. I actually stopped coming here after a slew of negative experiences and just recently tried to go back. I was reminded quickly why I made the choice to stop going in the first place. I'll go episodically to try and explain how the service is so bad. 1. I am looking for a very specific beer from Germany. It is not very common in the states, but I have gotten it before and Total Wine boasts having a variety of international beers. I go to the counter and ask if they have it in stock. An annoyed looking gentleman turns to his computer types in something and tells me that it doesn't exist. Not that they don't have it, but that it doesn't even exist. I ask him if he's sure, maybe its spelled wrong, but he is adamant that I've made it up. I did find it at different store. 2. It is the weekend and Total Wine has an open wine tasting. We came to get some liquor, but thought we'd do the tasting since it was open to the public. There are two other people there at the time. We go to ask to try some and we are ignored. The woman doing the tasting looks at us then calls over another couple who were passing by and invites them to do the tasting. I say "Excuse me." she looks at us again and precedes to serve the other customers without saying a word to us. We left the store and bought our liquor at Costco. 3. We have a few bottles of liquor and wine and we are standing in a rather long line. The cashier is discussing a party she went to with another associate. She is not paying attention to any of the customers in line and when the next person is being rung up she doesn't say a word to him. Instead she continues to discuss the party. We leave. 4. We come in to get a bottle of wine to have that evening. We were looking for something specific so go right to the section. Immediately we are accosted, not greeted mind you, and asked, "What are you doing here?" I remember the wording because we were so taken aback by it. We said what were were looking for and were pointed to the cheapest item and the woman "helping" us would not leave until we said that we would get the bottle she chose. We go to the tasting section hoping there would be a better item there than the swill that was pushed on us. The same lady is doing the tasting and she is continually rude to us. I'm not sure I have mentioned all the customer service blunders and insults, but hopefully this gives others an idea of the kind of service they can expect. Needless to say I will not be returning. read more

This was my second visit to Total Wine & More, both times were a bust. My first visit was to their North location...I was super impressed with the variety and some of the rare wine and liquor (especially some hard to find expensive scotch). However I was dumbfounded when my friend and I were offered to taste some wine and the employee serving the wine had no idea what he was talking about. I am in the service industry and I do not know everything, but I am extremely familiar with all wines....this man admitted that he was not familiar with the wines. What is the point? I thought tastings were to provide knowledge and expansion? I know it is not this gentleman's fault, but Total Wine should know better. My second visit was out of necessity so we went to their valley location. I was having a large party and needed a variety of beer, cider, liquor and champagne. There were two older gentleman in the sparkling wine department that were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I found everything that I needed and more, again...I am always super impressed with their inventory. Upon checking out...the red head at the register couldn't and wouldn't stop talking about how "big" her liquor cabinet at home was and her upcoming trip to Reno. Both were unwarranted and unnecessary jib jab that came off as being overly narcissistic. It was a real turn off...enough of a turn off that I most likely will not return. Again...being in the service industry I was dumbfounded with the lack of customer service. It's so upsetting that Total wine lacks such basic skills in customer service. They have such wonderful products, hopefully they'll get it together. read more

This place is called Total Wine but I'm not reviewing anything but their beer here. First off, Total Wine has probably the largest beer selection in the region. However, it's seriously lacking in variety. IPAs dominate while others styles like sours are seriously lacking and often completely sold out. The staff on the floor is not very knowledgeable and the checkers are slow. I'll likely continue buying the build-you-own six packs whenever I'm out in that part of the valley, but I will also likely end up getting the same beers I can find at craft beer minded shops. Maybe I was just spoiled by Binny's Beverage Depot in Chicago. read more

I admit to being a Total Wine honk in every sense of the word. If some says, "Let's go to Total Wine", I'm the first to yell, "The car is started, why aren't you in it already????" Since I'm trying to drink beer that isn't Bud Lite (my fav!!!!), I thought it'd be exciting to venture into the growler world and get something they had on tap. I hit the help button and waited 5 minutes. Mind you, I was gonna buy a growler and beer so this wasn't just a $4 sale. After 5 minutes, I put the growler back and walked away. While making my way out of the store, someone asked me if I needed help and I said I did but lost interest. The employee apologized and soon after, I left Total Wine with a new Ninkasi growler kinda full of Ninkasi something (a longer story that I care to address). My tip on this trip is don't visit this location before noon otherwise there will be no employees to help you timely. read more

I really like the store and what it is to offer. However when we went to check out Marrisa was our cashier and was completely disrespectful. It was the worst customer service I've had a a store yet. Huge selection, especially for wine and beer. It's awesome you can fill growlers there, but be sure you keep an eye on them as we had ours given to someone else once. The staff is not quite as knowledgeable at this location, but the convenience of the location makes up for it.
