I went to ABTRS in 2016. I have been to several rehabs over the last decade (this is.a testament…read moreto my issues with substance not an issue with the rehabs themselves). ABTRS was the ABSOLUTE worst. I watched the Drs belittle and humiliate one patient that they then 'kicked' out of rehab that night who left and od'd in an alley... oh and did I mention she was 17, SEVENTEEN never should have been allowed to leave without an adult Supervision. Many years after I left they sent me to collections with a 24,000 bill even though my insurance ALSO paid out everything that was billed to them. Then several years later as we were filing for bankruptcy they sent their shady attorney to my bankruptcy lawyer spouting some action they were taking against me that if I didnt pay them would result in me not only NOT being able to file bankruptcy but NEVER being able to file bankruptcy again... Unfortunatley my bankruptcy lawyer sucked and came to us telling us we had to do pay them.... we had to take out a 401k loan for $17k (again they were PAID BY MY INSURANCE)... to get them to go away... oh and then in my next bankruptcy hearing (of course after they had received the $17k)... the Judge was LIVID and went OFF on their lawyer... saying what they did to me was highly unetchical and immoral and who the HELL *judges words to them* did they think they were that none of my other creditors were getting anything but due to bullying, immoral and REPREHENSIBLE behavior and bullying (again words of judge) they received a check for $17k. The judge said that he was disgusted by their immoral tactics and bullying preying upon people that were vulnerable searching for help. Yep, ABTRS is money hungry... and AWFUL to their clients.... I would NEVER recommend this treatment facility.

You can tell immediately that this side is newer. The unit is unique in that the rooms are mostly all shared. It appears that space is limited, and that may explain why. We chose to stay at Barrow, despite shared rooms, because this is thw place with the most specialized rehab for spinal cord injuries. Thankfully, hubby had a room of his own for the entire stay. The rooms, because they are shared, do not have a sofa like other rooms. But they do have a tall cabinet, a dresser, and a really big t.v. on each side of the room. There is a curtain that separate the two spaces. There are two gyms--a physical therapy gym and an occupational therapy gym, which had a robotics gym. The PT gym has a small indoor track, a short set of stairs, a life-size model car front end, a ride of padded tables, and many machines to work out muscles and practice balancing. The OT gym has a couple of padded tables, a table to sit and do activities for fine motor skills, a weight and stretching machine, and some really cool state of the art machines to help with balance and coordination. Hubby got to use a life-size video game in which you use your legs to move a basket to catch the balls on the big screen. Very cool! There is a real "home" complete with a big kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and laundry so that people can learn how to safely function in the home with their new limitations. The staff here is top notch. All of them. From the nurses to the therapists to the PCT's (many of whom are RNs in the PCT role for the day) to the doctors. They are attentive and really rooting for everyone to get better. I can't give them enough praise. Nobody wants to have to be a patient here, but if you need a Neuro rehab center, this one is great.

When I was researching options for my wife's post-surgical recovery, I found very little detailed feedback about the inpatient rehab facility. I hope this review helps fill that gap. Let me start by saying: the treatment my wife received was phenomenal. That's not a word I use lightly. I come from a professional background that emphasizes planning, execution, and a pursuit of excellence, and I was genuinely impressed at every level. The medical care was outstanding. Dr. Bliss and Dr. Linke were not only knowledgeable but also deeply attentive and responsive. When a few complications arose, both physicians intervened promptly and with skill, leaving no room for doubt about their commitment and expertise. The nursing staff deserves praise as well--they were consistently helpful, kind, and ready to go the extra mile. But the heart of this review, and the true stars of the experience, are the physical and occupational therapy teams. Simply put: wow. Whether it's their training, their personalities, or a combination of both, the PT/OT staff at Barrow are compassionate, driven, and remarkably effective. Their ability to connect, motivate, and produce tangible results made a real difference in my wife's recovery. They don't just go through the motions--they care, and it shows. No hospital experience is without its challenges, but this one came remarkably close to faultless. And I say "almost" only because perfection is such a subjective, elusive thing. To the entire Barrow rehab team: kudos. You exceeded expectations in every way. ---

All the staff, from Teresa at the front desk to TJ, Rae, Zoe, and Dane -- are all fabulous folks who really want to help their patients get better. They are all practice patience, kindness and are healers to the core. Scheduling and even moving appointments around is easy-peasy. Their automated appointment confirmation system that comes to me via text is better than most doctor's offices. I don't get multiple texts, emails, phone calls, etc. like I do from so many other doc offices. Also - it comes to me in plenty of time to perhaps make a change in schedule if something comes up where I need to tweak the timing on my appt. Further, and mostly, I am getting better! This is the third physical therapy place I've been to in my lifetime -- and it will be the only one I trust from here on out. They Care! They Help me! What could be better? :)

I do not recommend this Arcadia location at 4840 E. Indian School Rd. with these two awful therapists.

I was transferred to this facility from the hospital after…read morean accident at the end of 2025. My primary goal in coming here is to regain strength in my legs through physical therapy and work toward walking again. Upon arrival, I was placed in a room with a roommate who initially seemed pleasant. She was forgetful but otherwise not difficult. However, the room itself was extremely small, and my bed was placed in the corner directly next to the air conditioning unit. The walls are damaged, dirty, and in poor condition. My overhead light would not turn off, and instead of fixing it promptly, staff covered it with blankets directly above my head. I was repeatedly told that a work order had been submitted. After requesting repairs at least six times, I was finally informed that maintenance likely would not address it until the following day because it was the end of the workday. When the light was eventually repaired, the fixture was apparently so old that it broke apart and spilled debris onto the floor, requiring yet another day before I finally had a functioning light. At the same time, my roommate's behavior became increasingly disruptive. She keeps her television at an extremely loud volume and regularly conducting phone conversations late into the night while speaking at the top of her voice. I raised these concerns and was offered a room transfer. Unfortunately, I second-guessed myself and declined, believing I might be overreacting. That turned out to be a mistake. Since then, the situation has become unbearable. My roommate's television has stopped working, and once again I was told that a work order had been submitted, but no repair has occurred. As a result, she repeatedly demands access to my television. She yells constantly, insults both staff and residents, comments on everything I am doing, asks questions about what I am eating or watching, and frequently pressures me for attention and favors. If I do not engage with her, she often becomes angry and disruptive. I have not had a single full night of uninterrupted sleep since arriving here. I came to this facility to focus on rehabilitation, not to spend every day and night managing another resident's behavior. My greatest concern, however, is physical therapy. I came here specifically to improve my mobility and regain the ability to walk. I receive approximately 25 minutes of physical therapy per day, and even receiving those 25 minutes requires everything to align perfectly. I must already be transferred into a chair and be at the therapy gym when staff arrive. Therapy times are not scheduled with residents. Instead, therapists simply arrive, and if you are not completely prepared at that exact moment, they say they will return later. In my experience, that often does not happen, forcing me to repeatedly advocate for the therapy time that I am supposed to receive. This is not a minor issue. My ability to walk again depends on consistent rehabilitation, and it often feels as though obtaining the therapy I need is a constant battle rather than the purpose of being here. The food is another serious concern. Meals consist largely of processed carbohydrates, sugar, and the cheapest available food options. Portions are often small unless the meal consists of inexpensive filler foods. On multiple occasions I have been told that drinking water was unavailable because it was "locked in the kitchen." Then, around 8:30 each evening, residents are offered snacks consisting primarily of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, pudding, crackers, and bananas. This facility serves a large bariatric population, which makes these dietary choices particularly troubling. Many residents have limited alternatives and rely entirely on the meals provided. The quality and nutritional value of the food appear inconsistent with supporting the health and recovery needs of the population being served. When I attempted to discuss these concerns with the physician, I was told that the doctors are outsourced and therefore have no involvement in the food provided by the facility. When I raised my concerns with admissions, I was asked whether I had ever been to other facilities. I have, in fact, been to five other facilities, and none were as problematic as this one. Rather than addressing the specific concerns I raised, the conversation shifted to general statements about how opinions vary and how strong the physical therapy program supposedly is. My concerns regarding food quality, rehabilitation access, and living conditions were never directly addressed. I came to Osborn with the goal of recovering and regaining my independence. Instead, I have encountered poor room conditions, inadequate maintenance, constant sleep disruption, difficulty accessing the therapy necessary for my recovery, and nutritional concerns that have repeatedly been dismissed rather than addressed. In my 5 days here, I have been told from the nurses a completely different story of what my game plan is with medication and discharge, compared to what the DOCTOR, has advised. And when I brought it up and told them the plan I'm comfortable with, they didn't listen, still discharging me a day early when the doctor specifically said he wanted to keep me for that extra day just in case I have complications with getting off withdrawal medications for opioids. And on top of that, there's a new set of rules with every staff, they are not on the same page and it's very frustrating trying to navigate what I can/CANT do depending on which crew is in. You'd think, with the amount of money they're making from either the client or the clients insurance, that you can do laundry as much as needed. Especially considering you dont always plan to go to detox snd you might not be well equipped with clothes and you RUN through clothes when you're sweating snd detoxing off drugs. If you want a nice detox.... I don't think Scottsdale Detox is it.
