I was very nervous to sign up for physical therapy. I've never played a sport before and didn't know what to expect. I had a lot of anxiety. I went to the Tempe location, and as soon as I walked in, I felt comfortable and was greeted by the front desk, everyone up there is so kind and welcoming. They helped answer all my questions (I didn't have many, they explained everything very clearly!). Fate aligned for me and I was set up to work with Allyson. I am beyond grateful for her. I've had issues with my knees since I was younger and always thought it would just be something I would deal with. After our sessions, I can confidently walk and use my knee and it is such a huge relief. She truly is a wonderful person who is incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely looks to understand what the problem is and not only guides you on what to do, but empowers you. I trust her with all of my physical therapy needs and will absolutely revisit should anything else come up for my body. I never once felt judged in the office or by anyone there. Unexpected hamstring pull prior to traveling to care for grandbaby. Told Allyson, the physical therapist assigned to me, I'd be climbing up and down 3 flights of stairs the following 2 weeks and I could barely put any weight on the injured leg. She scheduled 3 sessions immediately and gave me detailed instructions on which muscle groups I needed to engage to minimize the pain and strengthen the hamstring. After returning from the trip, additional sessions were scheduled to prepare me for all the group exercise classes I go to at the local Y. Results were amazing! I was able to resume all of my workouts (step aerobics, strength and power class, Pilates, Zumba, rowing, yoga, pickleball) in less than a month. Allyson listened to my concerns and provided me with different exercises and very helpful recommendations. I have a shoulder impingement that I've been working on with Allyson--it came up through rowing but was seriously affecting my everyday life and not getting better on its own. Cleaning and getting dressed were difficult, and I was having to alter my workouts significantly. After immediate strength, mobility and other therapies with Allyson, things got better quickly. I've worked with Ryan Denny primarily, but the whole office staff here is great! I've brought many a problems to Ryan; repeated lumbar strains, tennis/golfer elbow(pronator teres), and he has always done a great job on the therapy work. Does a great job mapping out a rehab timeline, explaining what is going on and recommended course of action. He is also good at reading when and how much to push you during exercises. Also their portal is helpful for accessing and reviewing recommended regimen. Tried the dry needling here as well for the first time. read more

Not sure who looks forward to Physical Therapy, but I sure have the past couple months.. and this team changed my outlook on this type of treatment as a whole. A shoulder injury landed me in the office and under Cole's care since the beginning of August. Four months after that injury... I was able to overcome the exact obstacle without re-injuring myself... am stronger than pre-injury, and have more confidence in my workouts than before. I was taught not only techniques and form with different workouts and positioning but also how different muscles work and the importance of recovery. Working with a provider 1:1 makes a huge difference, as they're able to pick up on your needs, work out a personalized care plan and modify it as needed. The team also has been able to work with my crazy scheduling needs. Alyssa will greet you with a smile on her face and remembers small things about you, is ready to offer a laugh. I tore my ACL and wanted to return to sports ASAP. After a quick search, I saw this place had so many positive reviews I knew I had to check it out. I worked with Cole and JJ, both of whom are fantastic and extremely dedicated. The sessions are one-on-one, and they really take the time to understand your goals and help you succeed. If I was having discomfort doing an exercise, they'd target it and stretch it out until the discomfort was gone, whereas at my previous PT they'd just have me switch exercises :( They provided a variety of exercises / running for me to do at home, which really helped speed the recovery process along. Even at my last session, Cole gave me some (forever) homework to ensure I wouldn't be back. I was worried about scheduling appointments after work, but they are quite flexible and know time is of the essence during recovery. Wow love this place. I have chronic neck pain and I am finally getting relief with the one on one!

I have worked with Dr. Ryan Denny, PT, twice in the last year. I first visited the center for a sore shoulder which limited my strength and movement. Ryan worked with me and I am happy to report that my shoulder has a twinge now and then, but the strength has improved in my weight training. Previously the weight training showed a significent decrease in strength due to the shoulder soreness. Recently I visited Ryan for a knee injury that was very severe at the onset, but now is progressing back to "normal." There are several issues with the knee confirmed by an MRI, but nothing to seek surgery at this time and hopefully none to come. Gradually the movement and loss of pain brought me back to my normal weight training ability. The injured knee does not have the full angle flexibity that one might desire, but it moves without any major complaints. Thanks Ryan I also give great kudos to Tracy the office manager for her diligence in the important "office stuff." This place helped me heal a "shoulder" injury I had for over 10 years!!! Honestly, I didnt think I would ever be able to fix it or find a solution, but this place made me believe in miracles. I had been to 2 other PT who told me I had a shoulder problem and tried to treat it as much. On my first visit, after my assessment, JJ looked me in the eye and told me I actually had a neck problem. Honestly, I didnt believe her, since the pain was always located in my shoulder and arm. Then when she told me she thought she could fix it in 5 weeks, I balked and was very skeptical. But I was desperate because I was in so much pain it was inhibiting my work/job. And also JJ and the whole office (including the receptionists) seemed so lovely and sincere, I decided I'd give it a shot. Lo and behond, in 5 weeks, the pain was gone and I learned so much about my body and proper posture that other doctors never told me about. I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE IT. Of course, I was VERY diligent with my exercises, and re-configured my whole desk situation as they instructed me to. After all, as the patient, it's still up to you and you have to do your part. But Pat and JJ fixed me and for that I will forever be grateful. They both have magic hands and gave me massages unlike anything I'd ever experienced before. I am so grateful to this place. My really great experience with Orthopedic Sports Therapy started before I even walked in the door! I reached out to several PT places via email to inquire about cost for services both with and without insurance. Alyssa got back to me quickly and answered all of my questions. She sounded like she was happy to help me (which isn't always the case when you reach out to places)! I decided to go with OST over other places because of Alyssa's friendly and quick responses. Other places were difficult to get in contact with/we played phone & email tag and I don't have time for that. Upon attending my first appointment, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facility as well as with the mask requirement due to COVID-19. I met JJ who completed a very thorough initial exam and made me feel at ease with her laid-back vibe. I felt hopeful about recovery from my injury for the first time upon leaving that initial appointment. Another thing I love about this place is my entire appointment was spent with the physical therapist! In my past experiences with PT at other places, I spent time with an assistant, got limited time (at some point) with the actual PT, and the appointment took anywhere from 30-120 mins, depending on many factors. Who has time for that?! How can you plan your life around that?! I actually thought that must just be how PT is, but nope! My appointments were focused, they started and ended on time, and I was with the PT the whole time. JJ knows her stuff and I felt like she was very motivated to help me get back to being able to participate in physical activities I enjoy. I got stronger and stretchier and know what I have to do for the next few months to continue to heal. I ended PT feeling confident with my progress and knowing I have a plan of action that will get me back to my activity level pre-injury. I cannot thank OST enough for everything! These physical therapists really know their craft! My experience with JJ was AMAZING - she listened to me and worked to figure out the cause of my plantar issue and wasn't just treating my symptoms. Functional practices over conventional practices is what sets Orthopedic Sports Therapy apart from any other physical therapy place! You are treated with respect by a REAL Physical Therapist - not just someone who is on their phone or talking to a co-worker more than they are talking to you. Their front office staff is professional and thorough and I knew up front what the costs associated with the treatment after they contacted insurance. JJ was an amazing PT! I can in due to an injury lifting and it was limiting from working out how I wanted to so I decided to try physical therapy. JJ is very knowledgeable and she has an amazing personality. The sessions felt catered towards me and it felt like we worked on a plan together to resolve the root cause of my pain. She is very patient, as I can imagine how difficult I was. I would say I have a higher pain tolerance than most and most of my symptoms were subtle during day to day activities, so it was hard to pinpoint things that helped. JJ was able to figure it out and now I am back to lifting weights again! She is an amazing PT and you are blessed if you end up with her! I found this place online and after going to 360 physical therapy, which was no where near as helpful as this place. The doctors here at Orthopedic Sports Therapy are so much more knowledgeable and professional. The receptionists care about you and it's easy to make appointments. The facility is very clean and organized. Dr. Cole is who I was working with for knee pain, has tried such a variety of methods to reduce pain. Most importantly, he is a great listener and will not give up until you are rehabilitated. I never feel rushed. I feel most comfortable at this therapy place. I am on my third week of visits to Orthopedic Sports Therapy and I am loving it!! I have suffered from lower back pain from years, sometimes worse than others, and on my first visit here Amy (my physical therapist) answered a lot of questions I had about my body and bone structure. I have been going 2 to 3 times per week and I am starting to see a difference, each week adding a new exercise and stretch to my routine. Orthopedic Sports Therapy in Tempe has been a godsend. I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in 2021. Injections, stretching exercises and a splint helped somewhat, but I needed a long-term plan to deal with the pain which was often intense. My podiatrist agreed and referred me for PT. I had previously received treatment at this facility after a knee replacement and was very satisfied. I especially like Orthopedic Sports Therapy because you work directly with a physical therapist - no PT assistants. I have been working with therapist JJ and PT Intern Dusty. They have shown me how to stretch and strengthen muscles and within two weeks the pain in my left heel/foot was decreased. My legs feel stronger and yesterday I was able to walk two miles on the canal bank with no pain. Dusty especially has been very creative with the exercises that he has assigned and works with me to modify them when necessary. By the time I complete PT I feel that I will have the tools to manage the plantar fasciitis. I would highly recommend this facility. read more

I saw JJ for my elbow pain. She was really thorough in her evaluation and treatment . Rather than focusing on just the immediate elbow area - she did a complete evaluation of my upper body to figure out all the possible reasons causing the issue. Every session was taken care of by JJ herself - never by just trainees/attendants. Setting up and rescheduling appointments were so easy. I really liked that this facility is open so early - makes it so much convenient to visit without affecting work. I randomly started having pelvic/prostate issues my pcp/urologist couldn't figure out the source. I grew tired of paying $$$ for meds etc that didn't seem to help. Started looking up pelvic floor physical therapy and my urologist said go for it. Found Pam's place online when looking for a specialist in male pelvic floor therapy (what? That's a thing?) Cole was able to diagnose my bulging disc and prescribe exercises and dynamic stretches to address it and get me healthy again.
