Thank goodness friends recommended Town 22 Restaurant. Best food and service I've had in the lake area in a long time. Rod was a phenomenal server, and the food delivery and clean up of plates etc. was top notch. Really cool French southern cuisine but all around just delicious menu. Our table enjoyed escargots, ahi tuna, ribeye with chimichurri, lamb rack, and chicken parmigiana. Wine and cocktails were perfect as well. Save room for dessert - crème brûléé and flourless chocolate torte were wonderful. The restaurant has an upscale French bistro vibe and was very busy on a Saturday night. Reservations recommended! My one suggestion is to have gluten free bread and pasta available. read more

Excellent service and food. Husband had the ribeye and I had pasta bolognese. Soup and salad were great. Dessert (cake) was big as well as very good-we took it home to finish. Enjoyed a nice glass of Malbec and fried green tomatoes as well. We had a lovely table by the fire on a chilly night. read more

Excellent service, food and ambiance. Our server was very patient as we spent a lot of time catching up with friends. He was also very helpful in suggesting items on the menu. We started off with the sweet potato/Brussel sprout appetizer. It was delightful! They serve fresh bread with butter as well as oil/vinegar dipping sauce- so good. For dinner we ordered French onion soup, wedge salad, blackened shrimp Caesar salad and pasta bolognese- everything came out fresh and full of flavor. I would highly recommend Town 220. This was our first time visiting this Gem in Madison. Our friends at LakeOconee highly recommended... Well! It over achieved on every level. Beautiful building, overlooking a beautiful garden and our server told us there was a creek in the back. The food was outstanding. My husband and I each ordered a Caesar salad, we could have split it... Delicious, with fresh aged Parmesan slices.I ordered the swordfish special, which came with a peach chili sauce. They paired it with sticky rice and fresh vegetables. It was perfect. My husband had the ribeye, and he said it was one of the best steaks he has ever eaten. Again portions are large. The location was nice. The restaurant was beautiful and felt warm and inviting . Our server was charming yet very efficient. The chicken parm was amazing and the stroganoff was tasty other than some difficult to cut pasta that felt like it needed a minute more in the sauce pan. We chose the carrot cake and their specialty dessert which had puff pastry with fresh berries, custard, and caramel. We really enjoyed it. Had the most wonderful dinner on a Saturday night while visiting the beautiful town of Madison. The restaurant is just a few steps across the parking lot from the charming James Madison Inn which is how we ended up dining here. For starters, we had a basket of warm bread. I opted for French Onion soup for a starter and it hit the spot. My friend and I shared a generous portion of Chicken Parmesan, which was definitely plenty for two people. The food was very good and our server was EXCELLENT! Sierra gave us an over-the-moon dining experience that both my husband and I are so grateful for. She was such a joy and a pleasure. The food was good. Our group of three shared mussels as an appetizer. We also had chicken parm and shrimp over linguine and both were good. Drinks and desserts outstanding A few negatives: mussels were served without bread. The chicken parm came with a tomato based pasta and no parmigiana cheese was offered. The atmosphere is great, wide open dining room with a full bar. There were 14 of us in the party and I'll say our waitress did a great job by handling us and a couple other tables. Only a few times did we have to wait a min longer to get our drinks. Now onto the food. For a nice place like this I expected more out of the flavor department in the food. It wasn't the best but wasn't terrible either. If paying 30+ a plate you should expect to be blown away with flavor. Other than that it was a great experience. read more

I was there on March 29th to celebrate my SIL's birthday. We had heard really good things about this place! We had a reservation at 11:30 for lunch. They called about 30 minutes prior to confirm our party of 5. When we arrived we were the only patrons there aside from 1 other table and were told to sit anywhere we wanted. They did NOT have a table of 5 set up for us so why the need for a reservation? The server had an attitude from the get go that was certainly not warranted from the quality of his service, the atmosphere or the food! He even argued with us when we told him we had seen an item on the menu on their website. We had to show it to them (he and another server) and then we were told that's not the real website but one under development. The food was mediocre at best, especially for the prices charged. My "quiche" was about 1/2" thick, all dough, hardly any filling and was not even warm when served. The only bright side to the meal was the crème brûlée. It was delicious! Everyone else's meals were simply ok. The fries were a sickly gray color but did taste ok. At least the other meals were served hot! I will not be dining here again. And would not recommend you spend your hard earned money here either. There are much better options! read more

Dear Town 220, Well, aren't you just a Georgia peach if ever there was one? The most beautiful setting that entices diners into a culinary experience that is both creative and delicious. The pre-game show included the French76, the peachy keen, the Lapis Luna, the NZ Sauv blanc, and some Bulleitt rocks for the purist. (The appetizers of champions.) Mix in some green salad and French onion soup and it's the feel good starter of dreams. Follow that with shrimp pomodoro, sirloin steak, cioppino, and the shrimp lover's and each dish became the protected no-share domain of the recipient pretty quickly. Wrap it all up with the creme brûlée (adequate but you can do better) and the cheesecake dream cake chased with 43 and cream (order off menu-- think retro 50/50 ice cream bar). This place is unique! Upon entering the building your eyes are drawn to the uniqueness of where this restaurant is locales. They have indoor/outdoor seating. The menus is simple but elegant . They also have specials daily. There were 5 of us and we all enjoyed our choices. They have everything from seafood to braised chicken. The service was attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable. Dinner with my sister on 3/22/25. The server was less than satisfactory. He was dismissive and short with answers. This is not the service we have received in the past. When asking menu questions, his answer was, "I don't know, you would you need to ask the Chef". Dessert that should have been served warm was cold. What a pleasant surprise this restaurant was. We came in on a Saturday night as we were passing through town on our way to Augusta. The restaurant was full but a place was made for my husband and I to eat at the bar. We had the lamb and filet mignon and it was seriously outstanding. It used to be so good. I went here this weekend. I've been here before, several times and loved it. But since then, something has changed in the quality of food we received. No longer do they have lamb chops--that were incredible-- instead they have replaced it with a much lower quality and worse tasting lamb loin. Maybe it's just my taste, but it was very bland, and very expensive for something so mediocre. I also had chicken Parmesan which you'd think would be difficult to mess up. But it was so dry, I think it had been left under a heating lamp in the kitchen for a while. Once I asked for more sauce, it helped a little bit, but the dish was still hardly a step above what you'd get at Olive Garden. Which honestly was how most of the dishes felt to me. Like a chain restaurant but for the price of something that is supposed to be much higher quality. Our appetizers were much the same. The only one we received that we enjoyed were the oysters. The service was somewhat descent but left a little to be desired. Our waiter seemed very confused about a lot of things, which to me speaks greatly about the type of management running this place. Overall, I'm very disappointed in the changes to this restaurant. Me and my party had been several times before and loved it. But for the price of four people dining, it simply is not worth it anymore. I will not be coming back unfortunately. read more

I still give Town 220 five stars. Food and service were wonderful as always. The space is beautiful. The only disappointment was being seated at the table directly in front of the kitchen door and the elevator even with reservations. Super high traffic area. We were celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary and brought guests who hadn't been to Town 220 before. They still enjoyed the meal and our server was attentive and kept the coffee and drinks coming and made nice suggestions on the menu items. We will be back. read more

Not very ethnically diverse or welcoming. Entree Food was meh ,just ok. Not bad but could use more seasoning. It doesn't look awful but needs more flavor. The Calamari was good. My water glass was dirty. Nice esthetics for the area but the atmosphere was very unpleasant. From the host stand to the service staff, even the patrons were visibly disturbed when we walked in. You could here a pin drop it got so quiet. We even overheard a male waiter say that he wasn't going to wait "their table ". It's a shame because we actually quadrupled out waitresses tip because she was pregnant and went above and beyond without any signs of prejudice like her coworkers. Where to start? The Filet Mignon my wife ordered was supposed to be medium well but came out extremely well done, so much so it could have been used as a hockey puck - a huge disappointment after so many good reviews of the restaurant. I did not know of the problem until after we had left the restaurant because my wife didn't want to be a problem. The appetizer was escargot which was fairly good but could have been much better. Normally served in a tureen that is covered with a flaky pastry crust, this dish was served in an escargot snail plate with very little of anything else except butter or vegetable oil, which I don't know. It would have been much better if sautéed with unsalted butter, parsley, and white wine the taste of which was absent with my escargot appetizer. At any rate, it was good, just not great. The saving grace of our meal was my lamb chops. They were cooked to a perfect medium-rare with a balsamic-mint sauce that was truly delicious. The lamb chops were awesomely succulent and plentiful. The vegetable medley of carrots and yellow squash was a nice al dente, but the caveat of the vegetables were that they were well seasoned throughout, some thing that is often rather difficult to accomplish. And then there is the bread served before the meal. It was lightly toasted on both sides and served somewhat warm. When you took a bite of the bread you thought it was just bread but then came the explosion of flavor. It seemed that the more you chewed the bread the more flavor you found. With the real butter served with it...too good! read more

Visited Madison for a long weekend trip. A local recommended Town 220, and what a great recommendation it was. The Pros: The industrial chic atmosphere was wonderful. The bar had a good selection of liquor and a great selection of wine. The steak was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. There were many options for daily specials as well. The service was fast and friendly. The Cons: I always find it a bit off putting when restaurants include disclaimers in their menus that they will not allow any changes or substitutions. The customer is paying for the meal and should be allowed to make small, reasonable changes. read more
