This review is written to share an unfortunate and eye-opening interaction at my neighborhood dry cleaning establishment Town and Country Dry Cleaners at 704 West Lancaster Avenue in Wayne, with the hope that others may be aware and avoid experiencing something similar. I brought in two items for minor repairs last week.Having been a repeat customer for repairs, I was surprised to be asked for payment upfront as I had always paid upon pickup in the past. When I mentioned not having my wallet on hand but offered to return quickly with my card, the clerk told me that work would only begin once full payment was made. I returned promptly from my car to pay, still a bit taken aback by the change in policy and tone. After running my card, the clerk became visibly uncomfortable and, in an attempt to explain, said, "It's not you, it's not you. Other black people leave their repairs and don't come back. That's why we need pay ahead of service; it's not you." Her comments were shocking and deeply troubling. To imply that requiring upfront payment was justified because "other black people" didn't return and to frame this in conversation with me, a double minority (woman and person of color), was offensive and unacceptable. What made this experience even more disappointing was not just the racist undertone, but the idea that somehow acknowledging "it's not you" would make the comment acceptable. I expected professional service and respect, not prejudiced assumptions or insensitive explanations. It's disheartening to realize that such biases exist, even among individuals who themselves are part of marginalized groups. I share this review in hopes of raising awareness and encouraging accountability. No one should experience such treatment at any business and I sincerely hope changes will be made so that others are welcomed and respected without prejudice. read more

I found this cleaners to be overpriced with poor quality of both cleaning and service. They seem to pull their pricing out of the air, my items still had spots on them, they were not properly pressed-I had to repress them at home, and they were late for delivery. I found the staff to be rude and inefficient. read more

They do a good job for me and have always kept their promises on timing, adjustments and stains. I will use them again and again.

I dropped off a coral colored dress and when I picked up it was white but for the coral stitching. They told me "they remember it having white in it." I showed them a recent pic of me in the dress with the full color visible in the pic. The entire dress was faded white and they refused to show any accountability much less apologize. They even had the nerve to charge me for the cleaning of the dress. Designer dress ruined. Lost a good customer. Not how you run a business. read more

I've hopped around from place to place from the Philadelphia area to New York City to Connecticut and I have yet to find a place that takes out stains and cleans my clothes as thoroughly as this dry cleaners. The thing you NEED from a dry cleaners are machines on the premises (aka not outsourced to a third party). If you walk inside and try to take a peep in the back, you can see the machines running and the employees pressing and cleaning clothes. Pricing is what you'd expect from a GOOD dry cleaners. I've had my blouses dry cleaned at very very cheap places before and have had to get them redone because they never take out the stains. I'd rather get my clothes cleaned at a dependable shop like town & country any day. read more

So a little while ago, I brought my Marmot down jacket to 3 different dry cleaners - and only on my 3rd try, when I brought it to Town & Country, did it actually come back clean, with the down looking even puffier and more full than it did going in. I've been coming here ever since. If there's ever an issue with rushing my order, the very friendly woman at the counter (I think she's one of the owners?) does not hesitate to let me know so I can plan appropriately. In contrast to the other dry cleaners I've tried in the Devon area, this spot has never lost my clothes, missed a stain, or let me down - something I've faced routinely elsewhere. I have a tailor I trust for more complex alterations, but if I have something straightforward to do, I drop it off here - and have liked everything that has come back. All of the tailoring, dry cleaning, and laundering work even gets done right at the store - no outsourcing to some black box or random warehouse - maybe that's why they've never lost my clothes and have been able to get everything I've dropped off here done right, and done it at a fair price. It's usually easy to find something wrong to knock off a star, but in this case, it's quite merited - this place does exactly what a dry cleaners is supposed to do - all of my clothes come back fresh and clean with minimal wear - and always on time. They were quick, pleasant, and most importantly got a 5 year old stain out of a cocktail dress. It was absolutely amazing - like an informercial in real life. There's nothing else that needs to be said - I would return. read more

I don't normally get my shirts dry cleaned and I think they took full advantage of it. Charged me $6.50 for one shirt.

Asked to have a pair of pants sewed. Instead was charged for dry cleaning. I explained that I wanted my pants stitched and not dry cleaned, there must have been a misunderstanding and she told me I had to pay extra for her mistake! No thanks! read more

We've been going here for years for dry cleaning. The lady that handles the front is very efficient. When I need something rushed she is more than willing to help me in a pinch. I drop my comforter set here all the time and it looks and smells amazing every time. My only two complaints are that the pricing for women's stuff is a bit pricey and I wish they were open Sunday. They also do a great job tailoring and have a dressing room in the front to accommodate. read more

Took a huge bag of clothes to the Paoli location; they ruined 2 very expensive shirts. The woman and the Paoli store pretends to not understand what I'm saying and sends me to talk to the owner at the Devon store. I kindly walk in with my damaged items and explain what happened, and he proceeded to scream at me that it was not his fault. Way to take responsibility, dude!! BEWARE of this place!! read more
