Charged way more than what they quoted...should have called. Over $2000 and then they say we should just trade it because the transmission is going out!! I see several other reviews similar to this, and I wish that I had read them before taking it there. read more

At Smith Mountain Lake for the week skiing. Went to leave on Saturday morning and my daughter's 1996 Toyota Camry would not start. Started asking around, ended up towing to Town Center (which took AAA towing 3.5 HOURS) but they were closed by then. Robert the owner was there when I called Monday. He said it threw a P1300 code, needed an ignitor, distributor. It took a few days but he ended up fixing the ignitor and ECM. The original quote was $700, he charged $800 and I know he and his crew put in way more hours than that. I have no complaints with the work that was done, the car is out front now, a 3.5 hour drive from this shop. In my opinion, Town Center (and Robert) was fair, communicative, answered any questions I had and for someone that did not live there, I did not feel in any way taken advantage of. And, it is fixed and good as new. I highly recommend Town Center and hope you had as great of an experience as we did. read more

if I could post no stars, I absolutely would. This place is a joke. they broke my mirror on my Cadillac last year doing a simple inspection sticker and we had to come back 3 times to get it fixed. we'll ok, we'll give the benefit of the doubt... we go back again to get another inspection sticker this year and they say they are "out of stickers". so we go back again the next day and they now say they can't do it because their bays are currently full. We'll sounds like someone got their license revoked and for good reason to me. Donot come here! read more

I love these people. Explained everything to this senior woman and both my vehicles are running great now. I've been back for small items and have been pleased each time. As for expensive? I am unsure why they charge 5 bucks if you use a credit or debit card. The fees posted at the window seem rather expensive, $80 for diagnostic etc. Parking outside is crowded, appears cluttered. First impressions not that great. I would not recommend. read more

We had a horrible experience here to say the least (and I would give it zero stars if I could). After receiving a quote for repairs of $450, we later were told the cost would be $800. Naturally, when the price goes up by almost half, you have to ask, "Well, what does the additional charge entail?" (especially when there was no call in the meantime giving a heads up that additional work was required or an additional part was required). That is a natural question that a customer is well within his or her rights to ask. The owner and another employee were very rude (as in yelling) when asked to provide this information. Personally, it's been my experience that when folks gets that irate when asked these types of questions, it's telling you something.... Ultimately, we paid $700 as the owner refused to turn the car over otherwise. However, I hope this review helps others so that they don't have the same experience. I certainly do not recommend going here. (And quite frankly, the only reason we did is because we were out of town and in a pinch to take it to the closet place.) read more

First off let me just say that when we first moved here almost 2 years ago Robert was amazing. We wouldn't go to anyone but him. However, as of lately, he has become rather shady. I took a car to him because I wanted to have freon put in it so the ac would work again. He did it and didn't tell me that it would take the majority of the horse power to run it after that. So I left and the car stalled out in the middle of the road. I had to roll start from 2nd to get it started again. Got the car about 1 minute down the road to the Wendy's to get food for my children who were in the car with me and the car stalled in the drive thru. I had to get help that time from the employees to push the car around and they got it started again for me. By this time I thought it might be the ac so I cut that off thinking that would make it work. I got it out on the main road again and again it stalled. I had to get it towed back to his shop where he then told me that running the ac would take over half the horse power of the car. I was charged $30 for something that didn't work and actually put me and my children in danger. The next time I had a car problem, my husband had replaced the battery the night before and I drove it the next day and that car just cut out on me at a stop sign. I had to have it towed to his shop. He told me that it was the alternator. Which was true and that was fine. The problem with this time was that instead of taking the battery that we just bought out and having me take it back to Advance to replace it since the alternator killed it, he just went ahead and got a new one himself and put it in and charged me the $120 for the new battery in addition to the cost of the alternator. I don't have a problem with the cost of the alternator. I have a major issue with being charged for something that I should not have to be charged for. I could have easily gotten someone to come and take me to exchange the dead battery for another one and he knew that. I will never go back to him and I don't recommend him to anyone anymore. He says he can get parts a heck of a lot cheaper than we can because of his "status" with Advance. When I can find parts (new parts) for a crap ton cheaper than what he can. I also witnessed him quoting someone one price for something and writing a price that was about $20 more than what he quoted them. He had even told them that the price he quoted them was with labor and all. I had to get 2 new back tires and he told me $150 for labor tax and all and when I got it done and went to pay it was $175. I am highly unsatisfied with him and his business. I feel like because I am a woman he felt as though he could take advantage of me. If you have money to just literally throw away, then by all means take it to Robert. He is good at what he does. He's just shady about how he goes about things. read more

They said they fixed my hvac system so I coukd have AC and heat in my dually. I paid for it to be fixed. I had a cross county trip in the summer. I left that evening after closing from the garage, it was working, but once I got over the TN line it went back out. I called them immediately. They said they would fix it when I got back. Me, another person, and an Alaskan Husky had to drive cross country and back in horrible heat. I go to get it fixed when I get back. I gave them notice several times, they tell me to bring it in such and such day. I call them ahead of time because I've moved from there and it is a long drive for an all day thing. I set this up last week. I call this morning, and the go pro guy was not scheduled to come in today nor has the motherboard been ordered!!! I was assured today would work. I took time off from a busy schedule! They are so unorganized! The left hand does not speak to the right. I asked for a refund from the last job and they say that was a temporary fix and it lasted atleast 24 hours right? Really??? No...it lasted maybe 15 hours!! Who would pay all that money for that? This is atleast that one guys mentality I spoke with on the phone. I would think very hard about using this garage. Im a veteran, I appreciate a mans word and a job done right! And to make an alaskan husky ride in heat that far and not even care? What sort of people would do that? I had to buy a portable AC for the truck to plug in for Gunner! Cross country and back!!! I want my refund processed or I will be notifying the BBB. read more

I called to see if they could fix my flat tire. I ran over a large nail on the way to SML. I drove right over to Town Center and I was in and out in less than 15 minutes on a Saturday morning. Great service and I was back on the lake enjoying my vacation in no time! read more

It make me so sad to come on yelp and see the previous review from 2014 being so negative, because I had nothing beyond an awesome experience here. Tony was extremely kind, knowledgeable mechanic who knew exactly what he was doing. Being a female it's always nerves wracking going to auto places because so many of them try to take advantage of you. However, Tony was not that way at all and on top of changing my oil and doing my brakes (he found that the last place I went to didn't even change the oil filter and only did the brake pads and not the rotor which gets the wear), he figured out why my steering wheel and front seats where vibrating so badly. Even though I had gone to get this fixed twice before at two other places with no success ($600 and a new set of tires later), he discovered that all of the tires were out of balance, especially the front right. After he was finished with it my car drove so smoothly after months of horrible vibrating! All in all a great experience. Highly recommend Tony!! read more

He has diagnosed baffling problems, re-diagnosed previously mis-diagnosed problems (by other shops) and generally provided outstanding service on 4 different makes and models of cars from a '98 Cadillac to a 2010 Nissan.
