I went to Townhall for my friend's birthday recently and they took the absolutely amazing roasted cauliflower vegan dish off of the menu and replaced it with a "roasted beet plate." It was literally like 3 full pounds of beets stacked on a plate. No person in the world, including a vegan would ever eat that many beets in one sitting. It was honestly funny because it was so unbelievable. Everyone was passing the plate around in total awe that I was served a plate that looked like this at such a nice restaurant (for the area). I paid $16 for a serving of beets that could've served 5 people. It was insane. I wish so badly I had saved the picture. I put it on my Instagram story, but it didn't save. Came here for our anniversary dinner. Had a very good atmosphere for a date night. We had a couple drinks from the drink menu that were unique and reasonably priced. We each got steaks for dinner. They were very well prepared with delicious sides. We got the beignets for dessert and they were amazing. Overall a very good experience, just a little overpriced for the area. read more

Chef Kelly V. prepared our meals to perfection (hanger steak and collard greens, scallops), Nick makes the best consistent cocktails, Melinda was knowledgeable, friendly and professional, John the Director was energetic and considerate. We were greeted pleasantly and seated immediately, though it was a busy dinner time on a Saturday night. The restaurant was nicely appointed with a lively bar area and a separate, quiet, dining spaceOur server was pleasant and accommodating. The menu offered a variety and everything we were served was delicious. I had filet mignon and steak fries, both à la carte. It was nice to be able to select entrée and side dishes separately. My meat came with perfectly cooked asparagus spears that I had not expected but thoroughly enjoyed. Our table also ordered the shrimp appetizer, which was a perfect starter for the meal. The other meal ordered for our table was the half chicken, which came with a particularly delicious, dirty rice. We ordered the side of black-eyed peas and it was perfect. The only complaint I had about the entire evening was my cosmo martini. It tasted a little bit like a sweet soda. Florence was a stopover on our way South and , once again, Yelp nailed it. Downtown is going through a renaissance, with trendy restaurants and bars between boarded-up retailers. Town Hall is a spacious restaurant with tables distributed in cozy areas separated by clever use of furniture, so your experience feels intimate. We shared the octopus appetizer. We just loved the presentation. The tentacle was cooked perfectly. It's easy to overdo, so it's like eating a tire, but this was the texture of scallops. And it's served with a tangy salad on one side and a delightful chorizo and bean medley. The range of textures and flavors, from the tangy dressing to the buttery octopus to the piquant salmagundi made every forkful unique and refreshing. Excellent. For the entree we both chose the seared fish of the day, in our case redfish. The shallot strings intrigued us. Imagine fried onion strings, with shallots! Again, the presentation combined contrasting textures and flavors. Wafer thin cucumber slices with anise and yogurt (?) dressing. Delicious ravioli-like pasta and, the seared redfish. As you slice the elements combine in unique ways, so each forkful is unique. Delicious! For dessert we tried the peach pastry, which is an empanada with ice cream. Service was attentive but discreet. Perfect for date night! This restaurant sits on the corner of two main streets downtown. The large windows give view to a modern interior with some rustic touches that remind you that you're in The South. The menu changes seasonally, so there's always something new to try. If they ask if you want the cornbread, SAY YES. Perfectly made and served with a yummy honey butter. We started with the House Made Sausage (whole grain mustard, house pickles, and grilled bread). I've now been here twice which, given the exceptional experience both times, warrants a review. I travel weekly for work and eat at wonderful restaurants all over the country, mostly in major cities. The small town of Florence, SC doesn't know how lucky it is to have such a wonderfully thought out menu executed to James Beard levels in their small town. Everything from the "Simply Grilled Menu" is absolutely jaw dropping incredible - I've enjoyed the swordfish and pork chop alongside the creamed pearl onion and Swiss Chard. One of the best sides I've had anywhere. Prince Edward Island Mussels we're absolutely slam-packed with flavor and surprisingly topped with crispy string fries and aioli sauce - which was not disappointing. Highly recommend this place - and sit at the bar. Jamie provides an experience and wealth of knowledge on the menu thats tough to match. Personable, kind, and although I always stick to the Slingshot Cab, I've watched her masterfully whip up some stunning cocktails that rival those in the underground lounges in New York. The food at Town Hall was worth the 9.5 hour drive from NJ. Upon approaching the doors a friendly server opened the door for us. Then the 2 hostesses were happy and smiling. I was a bit late for the reservation and it was no issue at all. The food was as good as it gets. Kelly, the executive chef is on pointe with all the dishes. I had the pork chop, which was the best pork chop I have eaten. Cooked perfectly and locally sourced. The whipped potatoes were perfect and the snap peas were the perfect side to accent the dish. Justin was fantastic and had the perfect blend of advice and being at your side when needed. Wonderful atmosphere -- warm and welcoming but also fresh and sophisticated. The food is delicious, although potentially pricey for Florence. I would definitely recommend, however. I decided to take my girlfriend out to celebrate myself getting a new job. Upon arriving at Town Hall we were not even acknowledged by the two host at the door until about 5 minutes. This was only because I had to interrupt both of them as they were looking at the screen in front of them. After seeing 7( I counted) tables open, they told me the wait was 1hr and 45 min. I asked if we could get one of the open tables and they said they are reserved for reservations only. I get that you have tables for that but the ignoring and blatant attempt at turning us away really threw the night sour. I've been here once and the food was great but after this experience, I'm not sure if I will ever return, or ever recommend this to anyone without a reservation. read more

A great experience. While home for the holidays I was able to catch up with my friend over one of the best meals I've had in a while. Being an avid foodie I tend to get overly excited about new dining experiences only to be disapponted by sub par customer service or blah food. Town hall superseded all of my expectations. To top off such a great experirnce the general manager stopped by our table to greet us and was super personable. I hope to make it back on my next visit back to SC. Went in for dinner with family for my brother's birthday. Deion gave us great service. The cornbread they bring to the table is so good. But try not to fill up on it! I had the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and the brussle sprouts. Really good. My bothers sirloin was as big as a roast! Everyone was happy with their meal. And the beignets are amazing. Really disappointed...we have been regular customers since moving to Florence a year and a half ago and recently this place has gone downhill. I'm not sure what changed, but they went from serving some of the best scallops we've had anywhere in the world to serving three small burnt scallops. The other plates in general have also been a let down. Potatoes came out cold and the filet mignon was undercooked (ordered medium rare). Further, even the service has declined. We were served one glass of wine and over the course of two hours, we have yet to be asked if we'd like another. To put things into perspective, we typically order at least a bottle..more than that if we are a larger group. It's truly sad because we had high hopes for Town Hall to be the start of a trend of reputable restaurants coming to Florence. read more

Six of us went to dinner here for a family celebration. From the moment we walked in it was amazing. The lighting, the ambience, how welcome we felt, were top notch. And the food!!! We were in Florence SC to visit family before Christmas, and they suggested Town Hall which was right across the street from where we were staying. Jason, our server, did a great job taking care of us...how great you ask? So great that 1 1/2 week later I still remember his name - and I'm usually awful with names. All in all everyone had a great time. The drinks were spot on, and the food excellent. They do a smaller "farm to table" menu, but what they do they execute well. The home made sausage and deviled eggs with the pork belly - fantastic! Main courses included Bouillabaisse and the Surf and Turf - equally fantastic. Honestly the only bad thing I can write is Town Hall is 400 miles from us. That said, it is a "must" during our future visits to Florence SC. read more

We tried the deviled eggs (they have a fried oyster on top), the smashed burger, rabbit and dumplings, crawfish okra stew and last but not least the bacon steak!! Please understand that the food is AMAZING! The bacon steak is RIDICULOUSLY FABULOUS! I can't wait to visit again. The signature drinks were delicious. One being peach tea and the other a sangria. My friends and I went down for a ladies night out. They offered complimentary valet upon arrival which is great since parking can be difficult downtown. When we went in we had not made reservations for our Party of 7. It was a Thursday so we didn't think much of it. However, next time we will. We arrived at 7:30 and we were not seated until 8:45. While we waited we had a drink. The Peach Tea beverage was delicious. Once our party was seated our server was great. She was knowledgeable and super friendly. I ordered the Smash Burger and truffle fries. Both amazing!!! The burger was so good with wonderful flavor. One of my friends ordered the half chicken and she said it was wonderful. Another ordered the steak and she too enjoyed it. Nothing we ate during our main course we would discourage. That being said on to dessert. We tried the peach cobbler, beignets, blueberry cobble, chocolate pie. The peach cobbler we all agreed was not good at all. None of us would recommend it. The chocolate pie and beignets were the favorites at our table. Those we would recommend without hesitation. This is a great place with a wonderful atmosphere and some delicious food. However, expect to be there awhile. We didn't leave until 10:45. On a side note of its after 10. The hostess stand will have your car keys!! read more
