This was my second time coming here. Both times, the guy at the front, Kevin Gilbert (I hope I spelled your name correct), was very polite and friendly. I asked if the pastries on offer are their typical inventory, and Kevin said they were and that they don't really change it. That's not a complaint as they 1) have a good variety of things on offer and 2) that means they can get really good at the pastries they make. I did ask if they ever sell pies by the slice since I saw they sell cheesecake slices, but they only ever sell whole pies. Again, that's not an issue. The first time I came in, I got one of their filled donuts (the one that's topped with pecans or walnuts and is filled with like a vanilla frosting), which was really good. This time, Kevin let me try their tea cookies (or thumbprint cookies), which I was told is one of their most popular items. It is a good cookie (I think it was a pecan sandie with a sugar frosting), but I ended up getting 3 mini Danishes (1 cherry, 1 apple, and 1 cheese). The Danishes were much better than store bought ones, and if I were to rank them from least to most favorite, it'd be apple, then cheese, and then cherry (though all were really good). Never a disappointment! This is the 3rd year I've ordered a carrot cake from the Town House for my wife's birthday. I called on Tuesday to have it ready for Friday and as usual, it was ready for pickup at 1pm. I also picked up 3 dozen thumbprint cookies and a couple sugar cookies for the kids. The Town House Bake Shop has been a staple in Cleveland for over 50 years and I have no doubt that they will be around for many more. read more

This is a great family home owned bakery. The foods are so good . Best thing to do is try one of each to find your favorite. The owner there was so friendly. He gave a few sample donuts to my daughter and they were all amazing. I love supporting a local business rather than going to Dunkin doughnuts where are the donuts were frozen the day before. My husband stopped in for the first time & was greeted by a friendly helpful man. My hubby came home with my favorite, coconut custard pie. It was totally delicious!!! He said they had a variety of baked pies, cake's & cookies. The price was reasonable for the size of the pie, can't wait to try some other goodies. We'll be going back! read more

Townhouse Bakery is the best thing about Cleveland! I live in Chattanooga and whenever I drive to Cleveland to visit family I always stop by the bakery to treat myself to a Creme Horn pastry. This little bakery is absolutely one of the very best I've ever experienced! It's just a small nondescript shop, not fancy but it houses the most amazing delicacies anywhere. I've eaten at renowned bakeries from New Orleans to Disney World's Epcot Showcase, none better than Town House. It's always so fresh, so very light, just perfect. The staff are very friendly too! We've been coming here for years and usually have a great experience but today was the day that this place put a huge bad taste in my mouth. Since I was at work and the shop is closed on sundays I sent my mother to get 6 assorted doughnuts for my fiancé's birthday tomorrow (I know it's not much but that's all your need for 4 people). When she brought me the doughnuts I noticed how small the box was. When checking on the doughnuts I was horrified. They were all piled up on top of each other, icing transferring onto other doughnuts, two were the same and one was smashed by the box. I couldn't present these for a birthday breakfast so I called the store and asked to speak to a manager. The lady kinda laughed and said, nobody is here so no you cannot. I told her the situation and how messy my doughnuts had become and she began to question me. She kept asking me if they came from there and when I said yes she was quick to tell me that they do not package their doughnuts that way. Well obviously you do. She told me I could bring them in for her to look at but I had to get there in 30 minutes. I'm working in Chattanooga......both going to happen. I guess I'll now have to scratch this idea and will not longer rely on townhouse for any form of function. I've used them for personal and business reasons to introduce their goods to people all over Chattanooga but I guess I can't anymore. read more

I'm not sure if they don't continue baking throughout the day but I can't understand how you have 6+ more hours left until closing & are out of your main staple item. I wasn't too impressed with their cinnamon rolls because it was a bit hard & maybe sitting out for too long. Town House is off the chain - Hometown bake goods with hometown customer service. You just cannot match it at a chain store.

Ordered a cake from them. It was pretty and the flowers were nicely done. So from a decorated perspective I believe they did really well. The part that was the worst, was the cake. A vanilla cake and it was dry. Very dry. The only saving grace was the frosting and globs of ice cream that we served with the cake. Will never, ever order a cake from here again. There are other bakeries around who deserve a try.The frosting and the decorations were the only saving grace for the cake. read more
