What a beautiful location. The boardwalk was just redone last year. Great accessibility and a beautiful walk over to the beach. The beach is rocky, but it is beautiful. Not too many people here. Entry is $20. They have porta potty's a single at both ends of the boardwalk. read more

Amazing at low tide. Water is very nice on a hot summer day it cleansed my soul. Low tide provides nice and sandy sand bar and it was perfect for play games. High tide is good too but only for jumping off the boardwalk. read more

Perfect beach on Cape Cod in Sandwich. Clean, lots of parking, boardwalk over the dunes. This beach is particularly rocky if you like that, not too sandy at all. My son loved throwing the rocks into the water. A lot of people also make towering rock sculptures in the sand. Great view of ocean and canal. Boardwalk over the marsh is right next door too. Large rocks there for erosion control are fun to climb on too, especially for kids. read more

This beach is not a beach. It is extremely rocky, don't come without water shoes. There is no nice sand to sit or lay in. And the water is knee deep. Great for kids (with shoes), but not worth the $20 parking. read more

The winter seems to have dealt the boardwalk and Town Neck beach a serious blow. The board was is closed and most of the walkways over the dunes were damaged. The Town of Sandwich has not maintained the beach park over the past several years and it certainly shows. Currently the parking lot is blocked with Jersey barricades. Doesn't look good for this summer. read more

This beach ain't bad. It's not amazing by any stretch of the imagination, but it's solid. I checked it out on memorial day weekend, and it was far from over crowded. granted it was early in the season. Nice beach to walk around, with a cool, long break water. Also, make sure to check out the boardwalk. Really cool. Stretches over the mashes into the dunes, giving a really cool experience when walking from one end to the other the estuaries. If your in the sandwich area, and don't feel like traveling too far, and dealing with traffic and crowds, this is a great beach. read more

We were here with three children, aged 12, 9, & 8. They weren't entertained by our forced walk across the narrow boardwalk. For one way traffic, the boardwalk might be adequate, but this is two way traffic over marshlands. Did I mention we were doing this with three youngish children? Although the scenery was beautiful, and I would have loved to take more pictures, I spent much of the walk trying to ensure that my children weren't accidentally bumped off the boardwalk. There's a small beach at the end of the boardwalk, but the real gem is up the stairs at the end. A long, empty beach with beautiful views. The beach is a little rocky and covered with bands of shells and other sea life that the tide brought in. I wouldn't attempt to lay out in the sun there, but there's so much more!! We were there as the tide was coming in. We watched the various sea plants that had been in the sun all day slowly return to the ocean. We looked for hermit crabs, skipped stones, played on the rocks, collected shells, and had a wonderful time. read more

I am basing my rating on overall experience, not just the "beach". There is a parking lot closer to the Town neck beach off Wood Ave. to avoid a haul over that boardwalk with beach gear. $15 for a clean lot, friendly attendant, a mini snack shack and portapotties. Sign me up. The scenery is amazing and many people obviously agreed as they stopped randomly on the boardwalk to take a pic. Keep it moving people! Prior reviews said this was a rocky place - and I didn't quite believe it. However with watershoes it is still hard to navigate into the water, slipping and falling on rocks. However, the inlet going over to the footbridge is a fantastic place for a dip and plenty to entertain the kids. While timing didn't work out for too much swimming or jumping off the bridge since it was low tide, it was really entertaining to see so many people with their homemade crab catchers - Rope with a piece of raw chicken attached. Much more effective than the hot dog. Bring the floats here as that tide goes in and out - its not your typical beach day but its a lovely one all the same. read more

At least once a year we travel to Sandwich to walk the boardwalk and spend a few minutes on the beach. This boardwalk isn't what you may expect from a commercializes boardwalk (food, games, ect.) but it is a quaint boardwalk with the occasional neighborhood child selling lemonade in the parking lot. What I enjoy the most about this boardwalk is the fact that this area lends itself to some amazing photos. We ended up doing a maternity shoot at the boardwalk which came out nicely. When it comes to the beach, it isn't as rocky as others in the area and it doesn't pack up like some of the other beaches on Cape. read more

People were calling this place rocky? Head on over to Sandy Neck in Barnstable, then get back to me. Nice beach. Soft sand, and the water is not completely reminiscent of melted polar ice caps (for New England, that's warm). The walk along the boardwalk is very visually appealing and calm. Kids like to jump off the boardwalk at high tide. The boardwalk is narrow, though, and only a few parts have railings, so not always the best for the elderly or for very small children. There's lots of tidal pools and the marsh area is good for crab catching. Fun for the kids and marine life enthusiasts. read more

Went with my grandkids for about an hour during low tide. We saw crabs, fish and birds diving for fish. My grandson found a snail shell with a hermit crab inside. Being from the city you NEVER see this kind of natural habitat except on TV. My grandkids voted it the best beach ever!! If you bring a float you can float with the tide for quite a distance - like being on the lazy river in a water park only waaaay better. You can also walk the length of the marsh during low tide with The water being about up to your knees or mid thigh depending on your height. Definitely bring water shoes. read more

Just the walk along the wooden walkways to the beach area are worth the visit alone...not big crashing waves...but lots of little tidal pools for the kids to explore. read more

Great place for scenery/walking at any time of year, not a great swimming beach though. There is a long boardwalk over the tidal marsh that is part of the experience but it is narrow (2 person wide) and has no railings so beware on windy days. read more

Quintessential Cape Cod. You'll find families with a long history of jumping off the pedestrian boardwalk bride at high tide. Check the high tide at the Sandwich canal entrance and go within an hour on either side of high tide. Go to the mouth of the creek where it meets the ocean. Jump in and let the incoming tide carry you swiftly to the bridge. Climb up the ladder and jump all over again. Listen to the kids and noobs egg each other on and decide who is going to be first to brave the cold, invigorating jump. There is a modest fee to park in the lot off of Jarves St. in Sandwich. Follow Jarves to end (1/4 mile) take left. Follow a 100 yards to end take right and follow road around to park. Or grab a spot downtown Sandwich and walk a couple miles or bike over. And the town has repaired much of the storm damage. To post a 1 star review and complain of freakish natural disasters is not fair. read more

Park in the lot on wood ave, closer, bathrooms & slushie truck(sooo good). Amazing beach/marsh area near the boardwalk & open ocen beach over the dunes on town neck side. We loved both for different reasons. Kids loved jumping off bridge at high tide. bring boogie boards/paddle boards/ noodles to float around in the marsh area. My new fave beach. Under an hour drive from the city- can't beat it! read more

I never swam here so my review is just on walking the beach. Great beach to stroll off season or in the early evenings of summer. The boardwalk, the scenery, and site's close proximity to Sandwich Center (shops and restaurants) and the canal makes the visit a leisurely but memorable time on the Cape. read more

Beautiful beach. We went "off season" so it was nice that it was not crowded and we didn't have to pay to park. The waves are small but the water is cold. It is fun to walk on the boardwalk over the marsh and get some great pictures. read more
