The town pump is a neighborhood bar in a strip of energy. It had a nice atmosphere, and you could tell that there was a sense of humor in the decoration. I liked the various Yoda memorabilia. I was mildly annoyed by the cash only policy, but as noted, there is an ATM with a $2.50 surcharge. For Ft Collins, I don't think that the tap selection is that great. Okay, they have Odell & New Belgium, but so does everyone else (aside from the town pump pale, which is only at the Odell brewery otherwise). Basically, I thought that it was fine, but I was underwhelmed, and there are places I would rather drink. read more

"Where the locals go" should be the tag line. This place is tiny, and usually packed. Great for a fun night with atomic cherries, jello shots, and sometimes specialty brewed beer from big names just for them. A little known fact, also the first place to ever serve Fat Tire. Why the 3 stars? well its not my cup of tea. The place is crammed and loud, usually only one or two bar tenders, and some of the tenants can be a little rough around the edges. My best friend & I are on a road trip through the west. We stopped in Fort Collins, not really knowing anyone in town, found the town pump and were immediately greeted with kindness by the bartender and the locals. We stayed the whole night and went back the next! The bartenders were all awesome women & I would go back just for them! What a great bar this is, small cozy, right in the heart of old town Fort Collins. They even serve Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine. The only way this little gem could be improved is if they replaced all of their staff with robots...or monkeys, either one. The staff that they have now is soooooo entitled. Came in here on a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't busy at all. As soon as we walked in, the blonde bartender was quick to make us feel uncomfortable. We heard about their great ever-clear soaked cherries and ordered some of those just to get laughed at by this blonde bartender. We felt so uncomfortable that we had to finish everything we ordered and get out as fast as we could which is a shame since we had such high hopes for this bar. But good thing plenty of other friendly bars are just around the corner. read more

The one and only reason we visited was for the Everclear soaked cherries which I will say is an experience, but not a good one. It's cash only and we didn't order anything else so I'm unaware of their drink selection. It's small but that was expected based on our research. The "patio" allows you to sit in a chair but don't expect to be able to easily move around. I don't mind checking out dive bars but this one will not have return visit for the future. read more

It's claim as the "smallest bar in Colorado," the Town Pump feels like a familiar and comfortable old coat. Not much room in the pump, so find yourself a seat at the bar and go through the moderate selection of local taps and some strong jello shots. The bathrooms are a trip, about like taking a piss in your coat closet, and are usually covered from floor to ceiling with drunken quips. One of my favorite watering holes in the Fort. Usually playing non-stop Widespread Panic bootlegs. Also, remember to bring cash: no checks or credit cards. read more

What a place, I have been in bigger phone booths(a place to make pay phone calls, for the younger crowd) in my life but that's what gave it so much character. You are crammed in next to each other drinking and having a great without a care in the world. My first visit into this place I had a couple next to us handing me Alcohol soaked cherries about every five minutes. We met a couple of other dudes that ended up taking us out bar hopping with them. You can't find much better people than that at a bar. If you like a dive bar with a great mix of friendly people this no doubt your spot. read more

I spent many many hours at The Town Pump way back in the 70's. I loved this place. One of my best friends was the evening bartender. The same group showed up every evening. Made some great friends there. I live in the Phoenix suburbs now. I've been fortunate enough to find a great neighborhood bar here, but nothing like the Pump. read more

It's a tiny dive bar (It's the smallest bar in Colorado). It's cash only and the ATM fees are outragous. Other than that, They're the only place besides the Odell brewery that you can get Town Pump Amber which makes this easily one of my favourite bars in town. read more

I just recently moved to Colorado, and have been searching for a good dive bar. Tonight, I searched, and found this nice little bar in the heart of downtown Fort Collins. It was (to say the least) an excellent place to be for warmth, friendliness, and an overall superb atmosphere. It was a little more crowded than I had hoped for, but it was also the end of finals week, as well as Friday. What more could I expect? I am certain however, that this place would be a great gathering place to meet old friends, and create new fond memories. The door man, bartender, and bar back were wonderful, and I hope to see them again soon!! By the way, the cherries are WAY stronger than you may think at first, so be careful!!! read more

Hands down my favorite bar in Old Town. They're very diligent about carding everyone - college kids, grandmas, whatever. They've got a decent selection for such a small bar, and some specialties that are all their own. Toxic cherries and oranges (soaked in everclear), several flavors of moonshine, the famous Town Pump Pail Ale, and they're single-handedly keeping the jello shot alive. Yes, it can get very crowded on the weekends since there's not much space to begin with, but ride it out. Most of the crowd is usually groups of people that just come in for cherries and jello shots, then leave, so there's usually a pretty good ebb and flow of people. The staff is great - always friendly no matter how busy they are. The Happy Hour prices can't be beat, and they have rotating specials each night (I'm very fond of Moonshine Monday). Also important to note - Cash Only! But they've got an ATM machine there in case you forget. read more
