I had to look it up online to see they actually sell books as it strongly resembles a library. There were a few older women behind the counter, not one offered any help or asked if we had any questions, that would be a nice thing to do especially if you're coming in with young children. We ended up with a few kids' chapter books for $3.50 so that was a pleasant surprise as I didn't realize the prices were marked on the inside pages. They had an issue with payment and accepting Venmo so I ended up using a credit card and were offered a sheet of stickers upon leaving. Great concept, except for the mother who was reading obnoxiously loud to her child inside the store, I feel like we should all be using indoor voices if we're trying to simulate a relaxing library environment. Other than that, if the employees/volunteers had offered any assistance throughout our visit, it would have been 4 stars.

I've been here a few times, but this year was my first time attending their Free Comic Book Day…read moreevent. Granted, it was later in the day, but there was still a line out the door. Despite that, Ryan's Comics had a Very organized system for getting people their oh so desperately needed free comics. Their organization made what would've been an utter hassle (I hate lines), into something that resembled a fun experience. Fans were dressed up which lent to the fun atmosphere and the security guard they had on hand could've easily been a jerk, but instead was pretty nice while maintaining order in the line. I got my free comics, took a look at the line to purchase stuff, and left thinking to myself that I would return... and return I did. The shop is really neat and clean. They make good use of their floor space to make different merch accessible with out coming off as cluttered. When I came into the store, there were 3 guys at the counter playing some ccg. I needed to ask a question about a certain comic, so I approached the counter. I've done this in the past at other comic book shops, so I was fully expecting to deal with half-covered sighs and rolled eyes for daring to interrupt their game. Boy was I ever wrong! They stopped their game, gave me loads of information on the TPB I was looking to get, and even told me to check in on Yelp for a discount while remaining friendly the whole time. Now that's great service! Even though it's a little out of my way, I'm pretty sure I can find more than a few reasons to make my way over to Ryan's Comics.
