Strange camaraderie between the barber and patrons, don't appreciate hearing the F word as often as I did from the barber in front of children. Don't think they like new customers here. When I walked in, there were two barbers sitting on their chairs reading and don't even acknowledge me. There was a third sitting in the corner who looked up but said nothing as well. All three looked unwelcoming for sure. First sign I should have left. One finally acknowledged me after I said are we open to have a seat. Still nothing...not even a hi. Then the other one tries to cut me down because of the question I asked. Really? I told myself no third chance, got up and walked out. The appeal was the old school look but after walking in, not the old school I was looking for. Not being from the area I was searching for a good place to get a good cut. I miss the old 'neighborhood' barber shop that was friendly but offered good service. I took a chance on this place, especially since I don't live on this coast (I'm from San Francisco). I walked in and took my seat. Waited my turn patiently and got the young fellow in the shop (sorry but I did not get his name). He did a great job and we had good chat during the cut. At the end he used hot foam and straight razor to finish off my cut. I just moved to the area and was in need of a haircut. I think I may have found my go-to place in town. I walked in on a weekday and asked if I could get a haircut, to which they said, "Of course." I believe the guy who cut my hair was named Scott. A younger guy. He was very attentive and thorough with the haircut. Even though I just get a standard #2 on the back and side, he was sure to go over my head multiple times in ensure that all hairs were snipped. He continually whipped out scissors to fine tune any strays he would see. It was definitely one of the best haircuts I've had and I will without a doubt go back for more. read more

PLEASE STAY AWAY IF... If you are looking for a quality modern barbershop this shop is not for you. If you are just wanting a trim then you are most likely fine. I have been a regular client at Sport Clips and tonight i decided to switch it up and try a more barbershop-style cut and I greatly regret doing so as this was arguably the WORST haircut of my life. I specifically mentioned to the barber (I will not say his name) that i would like a hair cut with a fade like the picture i had showed him (attached) but i did not want to cut any hair off of the top as i am growing it out. With (what i thought was confidence) the barber had began to cut but took a 0 guard and went straight up my head! No, I am not a barber, but i do know that when you are cutting a fade you do not cut a straight vertical line with a 0 guard all the way up to the hair line. If you are looking for some pretty good fades, tapers, or shape-ups stay away from this barbershop. With all this said the barbershop does close at 6pm and i arrived at 5:45pm so maybe they were in a rush? regardless if you chose to serve a customer you should do your best. (Also, this was not a problem for me but if you have young children I'd recommend going elsewhere. The barbers were cussing up a storm and talking about rebelling their parents) read more

How can anyone give this professional family business less than a 5-star rating. I've been getting haircuts here since I retired from the Army 14 years ago. Located in the heart of quaint downtown Bel Air, with a view of the major happenings, next to city hall, I'm immersed back into the days of Mayberry, RFD and the Andy Griffith Show. Jokes galore, guy tawk, business happenings, town gossip, politics, the national scene....and a great haircut‼Moms come in all the time with their children and we modify discussions appropriate for the clientele. I live in Delaware now and this is the only place I get my haircut! By the way, they know how to give modern cuts too and have a young hip barber who has been there for almost 10 years. This place is almost always busy, and you will probably have a wait, but everybody that works there, and visits here, are very friendly, and the conversation makes your wait a relaxing experience. Towne Barbers is for old men and children. If you're looking for something else, this is not the place for you. I just had my hair cut and asked for a fade. It was not a fade and lopsided. When I went back to have it fixed, he gave me a lot of attitude. He took three other people before he took me. After he tried fixing it, my hair was still lopsided.
