It's hard to find a decent and consistent barber and I feel a little guilty writing this since this place is black owned but after four chances I feel forced. I've sat in three different barber chairs at this shop in order to find the right match. Each time I left with a fade with no blend (not sure if I can even call it a fade at this point) and an insane amount of enhancer to hide the mistakes made on my shape up. I've watched people get up from their chairs with lines used to fade the hair still there. It shows a lack of skill and care for client satisfaction. If I we're being charged 15 or 20 bucks I would understand why the cuts were bad but to charge 30 or 40 bucks for barber school cuts is insane. I will not return and I DO NOT RECOMMEND this barbershop. It's disrespectful at this point. read more

Take note that the reviews for this place are old, like 2+ years. Things have changed. I'll be out here for work for 6 months so I wanted to find a good reliable barber. My previous experience with a haircut in this town was not so great, but this place? Wow. I just wanted a trim. Quick scissor cut. That's what I said. The guy literally shaved my head, leaving about a half inch on the top, and I'm balding at this point so it's pretty bare in spots. I went from the typical local weatherman cut to senior drill sergeant in minutes. I felt like I was in a prison barber shop and a rival gang member drew the shortest straw. He never faced me towards the mirror and was persistently removing hair that was cut. Never said a word to me either, instead shouting colorful language at his coworkers about random celebrities and their forays in debauchery (there were children in the waiting area, too). He not so much shaved my head, but rather jammed the edge of the clippers into my skull over and over and over until there was nothing left. This was topped off with getting rubbing alcohol in my eye, followed by using a pressurized air gun to clean me off. I'm not even sure this guy was licensed to cut hair. Two stars for seating me quickly. Do. Not. Go. Here. Especially with children. read more

My son's have been going here for 4 years. We use to live closer and have moved in the last year and a half. My kids wanted to keep the same barber. So we drive 40 mins just to get they cuts. However he keeps making appointments with them and when we get there we still wait hours. They are kids so obviously someone is bringing them. To leave ppl waiting like that is insane. I get appointments are not always on time. But it's been everytime for over the last year. But 2 hours later is ridiculous, I had to sit with 2 little ones in the car . This is ridiculous Unprofessional, and selfish. People have jobs kids and other responsibilities to waste hours waiting when an appointment is made. So needless to say my children will now be finding a new place to go. Plus they messed his beard up and pushed his hairline back so was easy to talk my son out of going back. read more

I stopped in looking to get a medium fade. The first thing at noticed was that the establishment seemed cold and bit barren. I sat down in the back and saw that there were a few people ahead of me so I buried myself in my phone. A few minutes and I have a guys calling out to me "hey is this your first time here?" I confirmed to him yes this was. Apparently, one of the other barbers was trying to get my attention in Spanish. I don't speak Spanish at all sorry. So I was pointed in the direction of Mike who I soon realized was not a professional barber. My cut lasted about an hour because he kept having to be corrected on his mistakes. During this time I realized that this is the kind of establishment where if you do not have a rapport established you're probably not going to be put into priority. One other observation I had made was that the guy that tried talking to me in Spanish seemed like he was talking to himself. I soon found out that he's speaking into his Bluetooth in his ear. Which is not professional at all. After some time of going through with critiques Mike is finished. He insisted on the gel for my look which I feel I don't need but I take it. $18 for an hour from a noob barber and not-so-great service. I asked for my undercut to be redone with a logo put into it. Ruben apparently heard "cut all my hair off". He was behind me and did not have me facing the mirror so I didn't even realize he had scissors in his hand until after he snipped all the hair on my left side off with one clip. It's not like you can undo that. Then with the logo (it's a word), he got 6 of the 8 letters in and said he was done. When I asked if he even put the whole word in my hair he said "No, there's not enough room. I'd have to shave more off". If you aren't completely sure you know what your client wants then you should ASK THEM TO CLARIFY. And if you don't think you can get a design to fit you should mention it BEFORE you start cutting. The only reason this is a 2 star review instead of a 1 is because after I left (I refused to pay for the disaster Ruben created), the owner, Selwyn, followed me out and offered to reimburse me for any costs I might have trying to salvage my hair into something presentable. This is not something many places would offer and I respect that he did, but paying me back is not going to get my hair back. read more

I go to Selwyn's Barber shop every other week for almost 3 years now. It's a great experience. Selwyn runs a great business. He is very flexible with appointment times. The haircut is affordable. Their shape ups are with straight razors which many shops don't do. Never a bad haircut nor a dull moment at the barber shop. The atmosphere is always a welcoming one despite the fact that I'm a Giants fan and Selwyn is a Cowboys fan. Keep up the GOOD WORK Selwyn!! read more

Awesome place. Was greeted when I came in. Thought it was going to be a long wait for walk-in (there were about 5 people already waiting), but with the 4 barbers on a Saturday afternoon, I only waited about 5 minutes. The guys played music, and chatted with the clientele. Overall nice atmosphere. Really pleased my haircut. Next time im in town for work, I'll stop by again. read more

These gentlemen listen to what you want and deliver. 3. The staff is very hygienic by wearing new non latex gloves between customers. 4. GREAT! I as on a business trip and needed a cut. I strolled in about 5PM on a Wednesday. There were a couple of people in front of me but they had three chairs working. I 'm not a regular but they treated me like they had known me for years. I explained what I wanted (a different cut then I walked in with), my barber asked a few more questions and he went to work. He was obviously very particular. He spent a good 25 minutes working on me. I got exactly what I wanted, he trimmed up the brows, gave my neck a great straight razor shave, and only charged me $18. I wish I lived closer. As crazy as it sounds, those of you used to old time barbers will get this. 1) The guy across from me was getting a straight razor shave. It looked like they were doing a great job. 2) they never come out and say it but a lot of shops are either "white guy shops" or "black guy shops". This place was cutting both and everybody came out looking sharp. Well done guys (and gal) - you seem to run a great business. read more

I walked in a few weeks ago with my sons a day before we left for Florida. They were able to be seen right away. I was a little nervous since two different barbers took them. Not knowing their skill-level or work. Not to sound funny, but one of my sons was seated in Chip's chair and I didn't know if he was familiar with African American hair textures. Well, he was amazing!!! The other barber (whose name is escaping me right now) had to correct 2 things that I noticed on my youngest son's hair. (He fixed them with no issue). Today I called for an appointment. I took both of my sons to Chip and he totally rocked their hair out! We will definitely be back. My husband is never cutting their hair again and they're very happy about it hahaha! read more

I've lived right down the road from this barber shop for about 7 months now and haven't been inside and checked it out until today. I definitely regret not coming here sooner. I've never been to a barber shop before, just chain "Hair Cuttery" type places. The difference in quality of work and customer service is night and day. As soon as I walked in the door, Selwyn, the owner and barber, had me laughing. No fake smiles or forced personality here; just a person whom seems genuinely chill. He also ended up giving me the best haircut of my life. I had no idea what I wanted done and he hooked me up. His level of detail is not only impressive but masterful; it felt like he treated my scalp like a canvas. I could not be any happier with my hair. Selwyn is the man. read more
