The hotel itself is very worn. The doors do not look very secure--we had to ask for a different room as the first room had a door that looked like a squat team had bashed it in at one point. However, rooms themselves are large (for NY) & well maintained. Cleanliness was iffy--the cupboards had some empty & unopened cans of alcohol, but beds and elsewhere were clean. Best point of our one night, two-room stay? STANLEY. His polish, professionalism, & warmth! He ordered a taxi for our morning flight, gave us insights on dinner, and handled our room change request without batting an eye. Truly, he is a gem & was a better concierge than some we've had at European 4 star hotels! Marriott, if you read these--Stanley deserves your attention! read more

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at this Towneplace Suites. We normally frequent Hilton Hotels but all the Hilton's in this area were very pricey ($300+ per night). I am a Marriott Rewards member, so we decided to stay at this hotel. It was in the area of Long Island we needed to be, and it was in the mid $200's per night (the best price I could find). Why the lower score? The hallway and room had a strange smell. Our room was dusty. The doors to the rooms were scuffed and beat up. The furniture in our room was old and needed to be updated. Some of the fixtures and surfaces felt sticky. Luckily they provided a couple of free antiseptic wipes in the room. The price was very expensive for what we experienced. The positives? The staff was fantastic. They were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. The breakfast was very good. There were egg sandwiches, pastries, fruit, and yogurt and everything was replenished on a continuous basis. I liked the free toiletries in the room. There were a number of good restaurants very close by. This hotel backs up to a small airport, but it was quiet. ***Update: I received a lovely email from Jessica, the Front Desk Lead, addressing the housekeeping issues, in response to a survey I filled out about this hotel stay. She is going to let housekeeping know of my concerns. She also offered a discount and free breakfast at their sister property, Courtyard by Marriott, which shares the same parking lot. The front desk discriminates against people with disabilities. If you don't get one of the two handicap parking spots and you're in the back of the building , you could have unsafe dangerous encounters with height of the back door with luggage (big problem because I was washing and Moving my Mother things to storage) cart to the back parking lot with lifting through the unleveled door . Often aggravates the sometimes Ride front desk staff. This management policy limits and counts special requests and can clearly hold handicap special requests against you . Sad because I'm trying to move to Long Island and need a little extra help. I recommend the front desk staff training on Disability accommodations topics, and training to retain their needed staff to accommodate guests with special needs. Left hotel so wet with shame and sadness beyond belief from this front desk punishment philosophy. It's not what I expect from a Marriott. First off - the staff was very attentive and friendly, what we expect from Marriot. 2 bedroom suite is not suitable for people who might need to do business, there is no desk, just a kitchen table, and lack of outlets for the modern traveler, let alone those traveling together. The place stinks of cleaning products when you walk in. I thought my chair at the table was wobbly, until I realized the floor was warped! Some of the flooring was loose and presented a trip hazard to those of us with mobility issues. The door to our bedroom was warped / misaligned, to close it we had to shoulder it hard enough to make noise, or try to lift it up and still shoulder it to make less noise. My daughter found MOLD in the freezer on the wire shelf - how does that happen? They had to bring a replacement shelf. Staff was very concerned. 4 people, 3 nights. Provided with plates, glasses, utensils for 2. Oh, and 1 ROLL OF TOILET PAPER!!! None stocked in the room, we had to chase it down at the front desk. read more

Decent place to stay if you're traveling with kids, dogs or just need semi-affordable accommodations with full amenities (kitchenette etc) Price for one night stay for 2 adults & 3 kids was $329 including tax on an August Sunday, so given all that... it was reasonable. Not up to the usual Marriott standards, but also no real complaints. Experiences may vary! Everyone working there was super nice. The app worked great! Housekeeping brought extra linen & pillows for the sofa bed within 10 minutes via the messaging request. The suite was roomy with 2 bedrooms and windows that opened (!!!) although the weird artificial smell is why I was so glad the windows all opened. Definitely a bit on the dingy side for a hotel, but still nice enough for a young family group. Free breakfast was a plus, especially given the 5 of us. All in all, I don't think we could have gotten a better price for what we got. Plus the noon checkout made the morning relaxing. read more

This place is like an old nursing home. The rooms are dated the mattress squeaks so badly and the air conditioner is noisy. There were gnats and ants everywhere! I complained and they sent an exterminator. I really would like a refund because it wasn't a good experience at all. If you leave after five you can't find a parking space. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. Not even for free! Unfortunately my home caught fire and the Residence Inn Garden City was booked and this was all that was available and now I know why. Solid hotel conveniently located by Republic Airport on Route 110. The room was small but smartly designed so we had plenty of drawers and closet space. The queen bed was comfy and really nice pillows. Bathroom was nothing great, but the shower worked perfectly so no complaints. The room was very clean. Halls had new looking tile so suitcases rolled perfectly Courtyard across the street doesn't have breakfast included, but our hotel did. Coffee, tea, breakfast sandwiches, fruit and oatmeal. Nice! Rates were reasonable for the area, so we'd definitely stay there again. read more

Decent hotel if you need to be in this area. The staff are not overly friendly or eager to help. They seem to lack basic customer service abilities and personality. I had to stay in the area and I booked this without realizing that there is a Courtyard Marriott right across. Nonetheless, I arrived to the hotel with a positive attitude. The hotel is located in a non walking friendly area so you will need a car. Since there are not any restaurant options in the hotel, I used Ubereats delivery and Uber to get around during my short stay. Also, the tv stopped working on the last night of my stay. I didn't bother to call the front desk. The interior grounds are not exactly the cleanest. The room was a decent size but very dated. The air/heat unit is loud when it turns on and off. Convenient for hosting overflow people during a family reunion. The upper floors, east side, can get a view of the small operational Republic Airport. Nearby shopping and food. Filthy, tired and worn. Upon entry to the suite you could see the dirt on the floor. For the duration of our stay neither of us would sit on the sofa or club chair. Both were old and so used. You could see where the fabric was worn and about to tear. Amenities were minimal and the kitchen set up looked like it was cobbled together from a yard sale. Lastly on two occasions the maid and engineer walked into our suite without a knock or announcement. I surprised the maid only to catch her holding my husband's billfold. While she did apologize she had no reason to touch personal items. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

Local, affordable. In close proximity to a number of eateries (from fast food - sit down dining and everything in between). Close to main drag of the 110 and many parkways and highways. Internet stations to print the days itinerary or boarding passes. Lounge that opens later in the afternoon and keeps decent hours to get a night cap after dinner and a movie. Stayed here for week four of a five-week trip for work and enjoyed my stay. From check-in to check out, I had no problems the week I stayed there except for the sound of a barking dog the first two nights I was there. Slept well all week and never heard an airplane engine after the sun set. Hotel staff is friendly and engaging- especially Melissa at the front desk. Hotel shares a shuttle bus with the Courtyard across the parking lot that will take you anywhere with-in a five-mile radius of the hotel. There is also a Wal-Mart in the shopping center next door for those who want to fix a meal in their room. There are lots of dining options within a very short drive of the hotel. Word of advice- stay away from the fast-food restaurants in the Wal-Mart shopping center. The health department needs to pay them a visit and possibly shut them down. read more

The handles in the bathroom were sticky and the lotion had been used. Handle to turn on the shower came off when trying to turn the shower on. Hair on the sconces next to the beds. first time trying the TownPlace. These hotels are better than motel 6 but are subpar for the Marriott name. How can Marriott make this place when across the street is a Marriott Courtyard with much better quality?!? You built a space that occupies the same amount of land and you build a subpar "cheaper" version? Why? Basically the attention to detail is not there. Such as the doors have these black marks on the edge as you look at them when you get to your room. In the bathroom, the furniture is like cheap style furniture. The molding has poor caulking work. I want to first state that this hotel received two stars because I'm self-proclaimed Marriott brand snob - there isn't anything wrong with this hotel at all....but the two star description of "Meh, I've experienced better" nailed it for me. The hotel staff, upon check-in, were super friendly and chatty. They asked me about my drive in (6 hours) and were able to maintain courteous pleasantries. The hotel room is nice - has a good amount of space and nice layout (see my pictures for a view of the queen bedroom suite). Where this hotel fails me is in the bed comfort level and the free breakfast. The bed is ok - but it is a bit firm for my liking. I am used to the pillow top mattresses typical of standard Marriott hotels. I also like a thick comforter covering me - the comforter here is pretty thin - so grabbed the blanket meant for the pull-out couch to give me a little bit extra heat and weight (I know, I know. I could have turned up the heat on the thermostat, but I don't like to sleep in a stifling hot room). The breakfast also leaves a lot to be desired (again, comparing it to the hot breakfast you'd get at say, a Residence Inn). They had cereals, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal and pre-packaged muffins and bagels. There was also a stack of Ego Waffles, but they didn't look too appetizing (I'll eat most anything, especially if it's free. This is saying something :). All in all, its a fine hotel. Not luxurious but certainly many many steps above a cheap motel/hotel. If you want a clean middle of the road hotel, you'll be very happy here. read more

This place is a dump. We're a Marriott family so we almost always stay at a Marriott property whenever we travel. My family and I stayed here for a weekend stay to attend a wedding. The staff was perfectly nice, everything worked, location was great, etc. Why the 2 stars...this property is woefully outdated. Everything was just old, dank, dirty, outdated, and just needed to be refreshed. Thankfully we won't be back here, but given the hotel options in this area, I'd say this is an okay option. However, for a Marriott property, this place is just sub-standard. Hopefully it gets updated, it sorely needs it. read more

Choose this place for a one night stay for my sons birthday. Thought it would be nice to have the boys enjoy the indoor pool at the courtyard and the night in a hotel. BIG MISTAKE!!!!! From the moment we got there they complained about them talking in the hall walking to our 2 rooms we reserved. The next thing I knew 4 cops show up and to their surprise it was because of boys being a little loud in the room. It scared the little ones tremendously and sent us home 1am in the morning. I was beside myself. That an establishment such as the Marriott would do something like that. A simple can you keep it down would have done the trick. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. This is my go to hotel in Farmingdale when I am staying on the Island. A few management changes took place this last six month and its really upped its game. The rooms are always clean and not so expensive as everything else in the area. They are across the parking lot from the Main Marriot which has a bar and swimming pool and there is a gym in both - not that I every get may fat ass in there but at least its there should I ever get up early enough in the morning to make it there. Breakfast in the Townplace is continental and included in the rate, if you want a hot breakfast then the restaurant in the Marriot is a good bet or a local diner. The is WIFI throughout which works well and they offer a free shuttle to anywhere within a five mile radius so you don't have to work about cabs. If you are on the island and looking for a clean and reasonable place, and the Marriot is a bit pricey for you then stay here and use the Marriot facilities and save a few bucks! read more

I stayed for 3 months straight after hurricane Irene. This is not a luxury hotel, nor does it claim to be. I found the 2 bedroom suite we had to be very clean and comfortable. This property, unlike the Marriott Courtyard across the parking lot is pet friendly. This was great because we had a small dog. Amenities were sufficient. There was complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available 24/7 in the lobby. There was also a free complimentary breakfast every day which offered basic items such as cereal, oatmeal, eggo waffles, bagels, and muffins. On some mornings when we wanted something more we would just walk across the parking lot and get the paid buffet breakfast at the Courtyard property which offered a bigger selection. This hotel also offers an on-site laundry room which was very convenient since we stayed there for so long. There is also a computer in the lobby for guests to use, as well as free WiFi in the rooms. The staff was always friendly and accommodating. The Courtyard property across the way definitely is a step up, but since we had a pet with us, our options were somewhat limited. We would definitely stay here again. Additional info: There are two movie theaters and a bowling alley within 5 minutes away by car in addition to a bunch of restaurants and stores. There is also a Walmart right next door that you can walk to. Also nearby: Starbucks, Houlihans, Chilis, Panera, Pizza, Chinese Buffet, Petco, Cheeburger Cheeburger, Stu Leonard's, Republic Airport, and more. I see some other reviews gave less stars than me, but I feel that they definitely exceed the bar when it comes to a non-luxury hotel. My expectations were far exceeded. read more

Expensive considering that manager explains (due to a less than enthusiastic review on Trip Advisor) "...Towneplace caters mostly to long term guests because all the rooms have kitchenettes ( reason for cooking smell) A lot of guests are either relocating jobs or have been assigned a long term project in the area, so they bring their families. We also have guests who either have had house fires, floods, renovating their homes, etc so they stay because of the two bedroom suites and being able to cook their own meals..." So, a big pricetag to stay in a less than desirable room. First time at a Towneplace suites hotel. Nice place for a week long stay on business. A step down from Marriott's Residence Inn brand but nice none the less. Hotel has a very friendly front desk staff-especially Wanda who was of great help in resolving travel issues I had had. Room was big and roomy with a nice big closet for hanging a weeks worth of clothes and the bathroom had a nice big walk in shower with better than average pressure. The kitchenette was perfect for preparing quick fix snacks and meals since there is no restaurant in the hotel. Don' let the sight of the airport scare you off. It's very quite with minimal noise to be heard. The shopping center next door has a Wal-mart for shopping convience. The shuttle that the hotel shares with the Courtyard across the parking lot is great for running guests around town and is free. The free breakfast in the hotel is okay at best. It could use an upgrade with more selections of hot foods. All in all a good uneventful stay! read more

Cleanliness was a primary concern when I booked our 1 week stay beginning 5/30/21. I agreed to pay the $100 pet fee, thinking particular care was given to cleanliness. I requested a suite layout that I had stayed in previously. Upon arrival I was told the type of suite I had requested was not available, there was no daily cleaning service and no morning buffet breakfast. The staff could not locate a luggage cart in the hotel for me. The kitchenette and bathroom floors were sticky. Areas of the carpet were burned, torn and hardened with stains that attracted my dog to sniff and lick. The water in the bathroom sink and shower was minimal. The paint was peeling. The bed was sagging. The staff was accommodating. After 3 nights, I decided to check out. My bill was over $900. To me, that seemed expensive for a hotel that is rundown. I suppose it is reasonable to the people who seem to be living there. read more

I really enjoyed my 10 day stay at this hotel. The staff is friendly, there's a courtesy shuttle that will take you up to a few miles away, the rooms were spacious, quiet, and clean. I got stranded at the Farmingdale train station one night because the shuttle forgot about me and the front desk person wasn't answering. Luckily, this property shares a shuttle service with the Courtyard next door and they were able to send out the shuttle driver. When I got back to the hotel, the desk clerk was sitting at the desk chatting away with another guest about nothing in particular. Still not sure why none of my 6 phone calls over the course of 30 mins were answered. Otherwise, no complaints here! I posted the phone numbers for the shuttle service in the photos. read more

Weekend stay was a huge disappointment! Booked three rooms for 2 nights for a family event and left extremely dissatisfied. Rooms were not clean, surfaces were sticky, smelled of mildew (which was probably related to the water-stained ceiling along the hallway). No clean linens and towels and lightbulbs were burnt out. The hotel staff were not welcoming, helpful or apologetic.The rooms cost me nearly $2000 and i spent the weekend apologizing to my guests for the sub-par accommodations. Really nice stay. The room was clean and neat. The suite had all the amenities you need for a studio style stay. The AC was a bit loud, The bathroom sink drain was a tad slow and the complimentary breakfast was "eh". If you want to eat the Bistro is nice and there is many places to eat right around the corner. Overall this was a good experience. Well worth the four star rating. If they tidy up the few dings I wrote of, they would easy be worth a five star review. First time staying at the TownePlace Suites. Only needed the room for one night. The exterior of this place looks very dated ( maybe even run-down), which gave me a sinking feeling once I arrived. That, along with the woman abandoning the shopping cart from Walmart right outside the entrance, was frightening!! - Nothing like the pictures. After trying to find a way in my mind to cancel my reservation ( also after noticing out of the corner of my eye that the hotel across the way was a COURTYARD- YESSSS!!!), but I dug deep & decided to take the risk anyway. Upon entering the lobby, I felt somewhat relieved as it was not as bad as it appeared from the outside. When I entered , there were two guests at the counter checking in & I was next. The woman at the desk was somewhat pleasant , however, another woman came out from the office & she was very unpleasant ( rude , in my opinion)- did not greet the guests in front of me , nor did she greet me- I just laughed & thought , ( can't say what I thought , was not pleasant though). As she walked across to the Courtyard , all I could think was " good riddance, glad I'm not staying there"... The hotel business is supposed to be about hospitality, but her attitude was less than desirable... After checking in, I was greeted by a few of the housekeeping staff members, who were very pleasant. Upon, entering the room I was somewhat surprised judging from my earlier thoughts of this place. The room was a nice size, clean & more than I expected for a one night stay. This place has basic amenities like a fitness room, laundry facilities & a small business center & a complimentary breakfast- good enough for the time I was there. This TownePlace Suites is definitely not somewhere I would stay again , but I would surely give another one of their location a try. read more

I've stayed in this hotel because I had a wedding in a Country Club very close. I usually look for this kind of hotels because they are very practical... in the room there is a kitchenette (full refrigerator, microwave and dish washer). The hotel felt new and very clean. The girl at the front desk received us with a smile and she was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are not huge but it has everything very nice organized. The movable desk, love-seat, lots of plugs and the 23 inch flat screen are definitely a plus. If you are wondering why I gave them only 3 stars after writing good things above, it is because they missed a very basic thing to make a hotel comfortable... HOT WATER. Yes, the temperature and flow of the hot water was very inconsistent. I would be taking a shower and the temperature would go up and down (not a good feeling), it hap penned to me two times, before and after the wedding. I don't know if I was the unlucky guess with the bad room because when I called to the front desk and they told me that I was the only one who had issues with the water. In general... a good hotel, nice room set ups and overall clean but they need to be more careful with the basics that a hotel should deliver. read more

A fine hotel, but not nearly as nice as other Townplace Suites you may have stayed in. Most notably; the breakfast area is small ... super small, which also means the selections are extremely limited because there's almost no counter space for the staff to set-up. Also, the outdoor area/BBQ seating area is lacking to say the least. Not a big deal, but if you've stayed at others you'll definitely notice these two areas if deficiency. read more

This evening I called to ask for some soap to do the dishes. They don't have any, so they are running out to get us some! Amazing service! We are so thankful we chose this hotel. 5 stars!! read more

Extremely upset with management at his hotel. Was there with a friend and young children on a Saturday night. Management told us we walk the hallways too loudly the moment we checked in and went to the room at 6:30 PM. Children are 5, 8, 12 and 13 year olds. All in rooms for bed at 11:30 after the pool. A couple of boys went down at 11pm for free popcorn then came back to room. A knock on the door at midnight saying they received a complaint from someone staying there, that the person doesn't want kids in the hotel, they asked us to leave. Tried to talk to management being that some children were already sleeping. They said 'NOPE". Needed to pack up at wake children at 1 AM to leave. Horrible. Disgrace. DO NOT STAY HERE!! read more
