Bought my truck from Toyota year ago, and absolutely love my truck. But I dread having to bring it into service because of the service drop off. One occasion I waited two hours to drop off my vehicle even though I had an appointment, and on another occasion I booked an 815am appointment and I was not checked in until 845. They could fix this by when they accept cars into the service lines make one line for appointments only and other line for a walk-in customers, because it's very aggravating to see cars who arrived after me get serviced and assisted before me even though I had a very early appointment and now I'm running late for work or my next obligation. Other than that everyone is so helpful, knowledgeable, and respectful and I will always be getting a Toyota in the future! read more

I brought my 2020 Toyota Tundra to Toyota Chula Vista for regularly scheduled maintenance, including an oil change and tire rotation. A few days after getting my truck back, I noticed the steering wheel starting to shake. At first it wasn't terrible, but it progressively got worse. After a couple of weeks, it became bad enough that I called Toyota to explain what was happening and asked them to take a look at it. I spoke with the service advisor, Enrique, and unfortunately this is where my experience became extremely disappointing. I found his tone condescending, and there seemed to be very little willingness to actually help. He explained that Toyota only rotates the tires and doesn't balance them, and told me that if they looked at the truck and determined the problem wasn't related to their tire rotation, I could be charged a $90 diagnostic fee. What frustrated me the most wasn't even the $90--it was the attitude and unwillingness to help. The conversation almost made me feel as though I was somehow at fault because I waited a couple of weeks before bringing it back. The vibration wasn't severe immediately; it progressively got worse until I realized something clearly wasn't right. My truck did NOT have this steering-wheel vibration before the service. Toyota rotated the tires, and shortly afterward the vibration began. I wasn't asking them to diagnose every possible issue with my truck for free. I simply wanted them to check the work they had recently performed and see if the tire rotation could be contributing to the problem. I ended up calling a local tire shop and explained the exact same situation. Without hesitation, they told me to bring it in and that they would check it out and re-rotate the tires FREE OF CHARGE to see if that resolved the issue. That's what really bothered me. A local tire shop that had absolutely nothing to do with the original service was more willing to help me than the Toyota dealership that actually performed the tire rotation. I have no problem paying for legitimate repairs or diagnostic work when necessary. What I do expect is reasonable customer service, professionalism, and a willingness to stand behind the work that was just performed. Unfortunately, I didn't get that experience here. Based on the way Enrique handled my concern and the overall lack of customer service, I will not be returning to Toyota Chula Vista for service. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from Toyota Chula Vista after being a loyal customer for more than a decade. I purchased my vehicle from this dealership in 2013 and have consistently returned for service because I trusted the Toyota brand and the relationship my family had built with this dealership. Over the years, my family has purchased two vehicles from Toyota Chula Vista and remained committed customers. Recently, I brought my vehicle in because my horn was not working. I was initially charged $599 in diagnostic fees and then quoted an additional $798.46 for parts, bringing the total repair cost to nearly $1,400. Concerned by the price, I contacted two independent repair shops, both of which quoted approximately $400 total, including parts and labor, for the same repair. When I questioned the large price difference, my service advisor, Carlos Carrillo, explained that Toyota uses OEM parts and suggested the higher price was for my safety. While I understand dealerships typically charge more than independent shops, a price difference of nearly $1,000 for the same repair was difficult to justify. Things became even more frustrating when I received a text message offering to reduce the total cost to $1,000 because, according to Toyota, I would already be spending approximately $600 to retrieve my vehicle and another $400 elsewhere to complete the repair. However, when I asked Carlos whether everything would be covered under the proposed $1,000 figure, I was told the actual total would be $1,112.98. When I then asked whether any additional adjustment could be made to the labor costs based on my family's long-standing loyalty to the dealership, the offer was immediately withdrawn. Instead, I was told I would need to provide a written estimate from another repair facility using OEM parts and that my vehicle would be reassembled and made ready for pickup. I left work early and drove to the dealership to speak directly with management. After waiting approximately 30 minutes to meet with Alejandro, the service manager, I spent roughly 20 minutes explaining my concerns. Unfortunately, the conversation was dismissive and unproductive. The only resolution offered was that I needed to pay approximately $600 or my vehicle would not be released. What made this even more concerning is that my horn was never repaired. After paying nearly $600, I left with the same issue I originally brought the vehicle in for. In addition, I was repeatedly told that technicians spent three hours diagnosing the problem, despite receiving a call shortly after dropping off the vehicle with information about the diagnosis. I also discovered that Toyota Chula Vista's website advertises complimentary inspections. Despite this, I was initially presented with a $200 charge and later an additional $400 charge, totaling nearly $600. To the best of my knowledge, I only signed paperwork authorizing the initial $200 amount. The lack of transparency regarding these charges was extremely troubling. I have retained receipts and text messages documenting these interactions and the changing explanations regarding pricing and authorization. What disappointed me most was not simply the cost, but the complete lack of consideration for a customer who has supported this dealership for over a decade. Instead of transparency, accountability, or an effort to preserve a long-standing customer relationship, I was met with shifting prices, withdrawn offers, pressure to pay fees in order to retrieve my vehicle, and a repair that was never completed. After more than ten years of loyalty to Toyota Chula Vista, I left feeling unheard, disrespected, and taken advantage of. I made the appointment last week Thursday, or Friday, and I wish I had been told that Monday's at 9:00am are extremely busy. Or, they should just block that time off completely. After an extremely disappointing experience with Toyota Chula Vista this morning, I ended up deciding to take my vehicle home with the Safety Recall service failing to be completed. Highly recommend Toyota Chula Vista. My battery died for my 2015 Prius C. I wasn't sure if I just needed to charge my battery to full capacity or if it needed to be replaced. I wasn't sure if there was something going on with the charging system or that I just hadn't driven my Prius enough because I had it garaged for quite some time. I was served by a gentleman named Mario in the parts department. Mario is very knowledgeable And he explained to me all the options and possibilities regarding the situation and that it was imperative to do a series of tests to find out whether it was a battery issue or there might be something going on with my charging system. I personally will never go to any other Toyota dealership from now on. When I arrived a very tall nice salesman offered to carry my battery core back to the Parts Dept for me. The salesmen did not mock, make fun of me, snub me and turn their backs on me when they realized I wasn't there to purchase a vehicle from them. When I arrive to the Parts Dept. Mario was very professional, polite, courteous, and above all thorough. He explained to me how my Warranty works if I was to purchase a battery from him he also explain to me the testing process and allowed me to leave my battery core behind to have it tested to see if it could hold charge. Because it was a little time-consuming there was a nice waiting room with coffee and the TV was turned to the sports channel, which was quite refreshing as I waited for my turn in line as I am handicapped and it is necessary for me to sit. The place was clean and the staff was very friendly. I filled out the proper paperwork. I was allowed to leave my old battery over the weekend in order to accommodate my work schedule. I was in route to other appointments and my battery also required additional charging time in order for them to thoroughly test my battery properly. Mario wanted to make sure I had all the information necessary in order to make the right decision incase I might have to purchase a new battery. these gel filled batteries that go under the seat of the Prius C are very expensive. This was not gonna be an easy decision and if it wasn't the battery and the charging system, I needed all the information I could get to make the right decision for me and my budget. Another reason I prefer this dealership over the other Toyota dealerships is because in the past when I arrived at the other dealerships, I was driving my 2014 Honda Accord. I own a 2006 Toyota Highlander as well. In the past, I've pulled up to other Toyota dealerships in my Honda and have literally been made fun of and ridiculed by the salesman for driving my Honda to the Toyota dealership. I was also treated poorly when asking for directions to the Parts Dept. when the salesman realized I wasn't going to purchase a vehicle at that time. The funny thing is the Honda belongs to my daughter, and I personally love Toyotas' and would buy nothing but a Toyota. When I picked it up, I discovered they'd added repair work I never authorized, disguised as "warranty" work. I was charged a deductible and labor fees for something I never agreed to. I waited a couple of times to put a review on the service center for this dealer. Their check in process for the service center does not run smoothly. It takes quite some time to get a Guest agent to check you in and get your information. You have to make sure you are not in a hurry and have time for this. The dealer inside looks brand new and you have a nice big waiting area. My recommendation is that you xall before going back to pick up your car in service if they told you a time because it usually is not ready on time. First time getting service here. Found a coupon on their website for $69.99 doesn't include tire rotation. I get rotation with balance for free at discount tire so it's all good. The wait was 2 hrs so I just asked to uber home. He gave me a $50 uber voucher and helped me book a ride because I didn't know how. Dealership usually does all that but he said it changed. When he called me to tell me it was done I was going to uber back but the voucher didn't work anymore. He forgot to tell me that it was one way only. There was a situation where I left without signing a paper and I told her that is exactly why I asked the worker TWICE if I was good to go and they told me yes. We scheduled an appointment to get an oil change on our Toyota Sienna. We arrived at the appointment and waited for about 30 minutes before our assigned agent showed up. There were other customers who had arrived after us and were quickly taken care of but we were told our agent was helping another customer. She finally arrived and was trying to sell us some type of package when all we needed was an oil change. After about an hour of waiting and the agent trying to sell us on buying other things we didn't ask for, we asked them to return our keys and we left. We drove to PepBoys, they took us in right away and our car was ready in a couple of hours. I've been coming to this dealership for a few years now. I bought my car here and have always come here for service. Until recently, I never had an issue. DO NOT COME HERE. And if you do, DO NOT get your car serviced with Vanessa Santiago. When I dropped my car off, I had an appointment at 11:30 AM and still had to wait an hour before she was finally available. Communication was extremely poor. I needed information about getting a rental car and went four days without one because my calls were not returned. I wish that had been the worst part of this experience. I brought my car in for a tire and rim repair that was covered by my warranty. Before dropping off my vehicle, the tire pressure system was working perfectly and showing readings for all four tires. After the dealership replaced the tire and rim and returned my vehicle, my dashboard started showing dashes instead of tire pressure for all four tires. When I contacted the dealership about it, they told me the sensors were "not registering" and that the car would need to be reprogrammed for around $265. What's frustrating is that the system was working fine when I dropped the car off, and the issue only appeared after the repair. Despite that, they told me it wasn't their responsibility because they only worked on one tire. It's hard to believe that all four sensors would suddenly stop registering immediately after the dealership serviced the wheel. I would have expected them to at least investigate further or offer some type of goodwill assistance, but instead I was told I would have to pay for the fix. They had my car for FIVE DAYS, and the issue appeared the minute I turned the car on in their parking lot. Yet somehow I was told it was unrelated to the repair. Even though they worked on my tires. I brought my 2022 GR86 to this dealership after it began making terrible squeaking noises. It turned out the engine had been starved of oil due to a known manufacturing defect. Since I have a warranty that covers internal issues, I didn't think this would be a big deal. Unfortunately, this turned into one of the worst service experiences I've ever had. For the first month, I had to call the dealership every few days just to get any information, no one ever reached out to me first. Each time, I was told the same thing: "We're still looking into it," or "We need an inspector to confirm whether it's covered under warranty." My service advisor, Carlos Muñoz, even told me I'd receive an update in two days, then went on vacation without any follow up. After an entire month of waiting, I was finally told the inspector had approved the repair. Only then was I given a rental, and it was only for 10 days, even though the repairs were nowhere near complete. Another month passed before I was told my car would be ready "in a few days." That turned out to be untrue. More parts were needed, something that could have been communicated weeks earlier. What made this whole process so frustrating wasn't just the delay but the repeated misinformation. I was constantly told one thing, only to find out later it wasn't accurate. My father and I eventually went to the dealership to speak with a manager. After that, Carlos sent an apology and began giving me updates, something that should have been happening from day one. After nearly three months, I was told the car was undergoing final tests. Then more bad news: the manifold was cracked, and I was expected to pay $3,600 out of pocket. How it took three months to discover that is beyond me. I decided to take the car home and fix the manifold elsewhere. After driving it just a few times, I came home to see white smoke coming from under the hood. I checked the next day and discovered the car had NO coolant. Either they forgot to fill it or they did a poor job and failed to properly burp the coolant system, either way, it is unacceptable after such extensive engine work. I brought the car back in to get the cooling system burped, and a week later, all my oil leaked out because the rear section of the valve cover came loose. Because of this, I had to tow the vehicle back to the dealership out of pocket, adding even more cost and frustration to an already awful situation. Now, I'm once again waiting for an ETA on repairs. And just like before, I'm barely getting any communication. My messages are often left on read, and I'm not given updates, not even a simple "we don't have one yet." At this point, the lack of basic courtesy or transparency is extremely disappointing. This entire experience has shown poor communication, poor accountability, and poor quality of work at multiple stages. I won't be back to this Toyota. I typically go to Norm Reeves Toyota. Coming here, I called ahead and they quoted me $80 for an oil change. I looked online and called back and said, " online says oil changes are $70". He said, "oh yeah you have to mention the 'coupon' " (it's not a coupon, it literally has that price as an oil change). Okay cool. I made an appointment for 12:30 I get to the appointment and was helped my Vanessa. She quoted me $140 for an oil change. I don't know what changed that jumped from $80-$140... I "mentioned the coupon" and she lowered it to $70. Then she told me my Toyota Highlander takes one extra quart of oil and would make the oil change $80. (I've been getting my car serviced at different Toyotas for 3 years and no one has ever said this to me) fine. Then she proceeds to try to upsell me on all kinds of things, making my potential total $955 ain't no way. I declined and jus asked for the oil change. Lol understand that this is part of her job, but, BFFR. She said my car would be done at the latest, 3:30. I never received a call or text. I called at 3:45 to see what the update was. They said she would likely call me after she was done with the customer. They got a text at 4:00 finally saying that my car was done. I'm convinced that they only sent it because I called. I have dealt with a lot of great people that worked and some that still work there. The wait time for servicing a car for an oil change and tire rotation should not take 6 hours. It's not the first time. Maybe you need to hire more people to be able to service all the cars. I scheduled my appointment for 9am, thinking that I would be able to get out early. The scheduling page only allowed me to choose routine operations, but I added a note that the check engine and tire light were on. The first problem was that there was a significant wait in the check-in line. The service advisor, Jesus Salazar, was very patient and helpful. I asked him how long the service would take and he indicated it would not be long; however, when he ordered an Uber for me I got the impression that the car wouldn't be ready any time soon. After that everything went downhill. At home I waited to get a call back. The promised time on the paperwork was 3pm, after 3:30 I called and asked for an update - they transferred me to the advisor's voicemail, which was full. At breakfast the next day I got a message that the car was ready. When I went to pay I was surprised how much higher the bill was than I expected. The initial estimate had been $257 but with the request to check the warning lights the second estimate was about $995. The final bill I got was $1455, almost $500 more. When I went to pick up my car I walked over to talk to the Service Advisor but he was not at his station. The technical language on the bill was hard for me to understand so I called him again when I got home but the voicemail box was still full. I sent him a text three days ago but have not gotten a response. There is a note on page three of the bill that indicates I will be 'receiving a text with a video multi point inspection' and an estimate for any further recommendations after that. No text, no video. It is six days since I took the car in for service. The warning lights are still on. Also, the dealership charges a 2.6% fee if you use a credit card, which I think is strange. IF YOU WANT YOUR CAR TO BURN READ BEFORE YOU BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP! I STRONGLY recommend you look elsewhere! My partner (Law enforcement officer) bought a car from this dealership and not even a year later the car started having issues. Instead of fixing the issue properly they did half a** work and have him the run around on why they couldn't fix it properly every time. He followed up multiple times since they never updated him. And they wouldn't offer him a rental for the whole duration of the so called "work". 6 months later he gets his car back "fixed" and it sets on fire off the side of the road. Save your money and go elsewhere cause this dealership does not seem to care about fixing it right the first time ! read more
