He's been honest and open about the health of my teeth and that of my family's teeth as well. Dr. Long was very friendly and took the time to show me my teeth with an intraoral camera. After two previous dentists told me I needed multiple fillings, Dr. Long said I had no cavities -- I really appreciated his conservative, no-unnecessary-work philosophy. 1 Star - First Time Patient Experience Today I visited Tracey Dental in McKinney, TX, and if I could give this office 0 stars, I absolutely would. This was easily the worst experience I've ever had at any doctor or dental office. When I first arrived, there was no one at the front desk, so I waited for a while before the receptionist finally came out and asked me to complete my paperwork. That part was fine, and I didn't think much of the delay. Things quickly went downhill from there. A dental assistant came to the door, looked at me, and barely acknowledged me before ushering me into a room with no greeting or professionalism whatsoever. Once seated, she simply said she would be doing my X-rays. She began using a handheld X-ray device and gave little to no direction while repeatedly shoving the equipment into my mouth. I tried to explain that the top of my mouth isn't hollow enough for me to comfortably bite down on the device, but she completely ignored what I said and continued. The way she handled the equipment was rough and careless, and it became painful. I eventually had to stop her because she was literally hurting me. At that point I told her, "I don't know if you're having a bad day or what, but it seems like you don't want to be here." Her response was defensive and dismissive: "I'm the dental assistant. I know what I'm doing. I like my job and want to be here." I responded that her attitude clearly suggested otherwise, and she then tried to flip it around and tell me that I had the attitude. That was the moment I decided I was not going to tolerate being treated like that, especially as a first-time patient. I removed the bib, got up, and walked out. I explained what happened to the receptionist on my way out and she apologized. After calming down, I called the office and asked to speak with the office manager but ended up speaking with the dentist himself. He was understanding, apologized, and even offered to still clean my teeth, but by that point the experience had already been ruined so I declined. The point is this: patients take a risk when trying a new dental office, and being treated with disrespect and carelessness by a staff member--especially someone performing a procedure--is completely unacceptable. She's clearly in the wrong profession!!! I sincerely hope the office takes a hard look at their staff and addresses the behavior of employees who are bringing down the professionalism and reputation of the practice, because this experience was a terrible reflection of the business. I would not recommend this dental office. Save your time and money and go somewhere that values patient care and basic professionalism. read more

First the front office staff was amazing! From listening to my concerns and what we needed done they acknowledged all and made me feel comfortable. When we went to the appointment, it was an easy check in process and then the dental hygienist and dentist their care was top notch. There was no mom shaming, no making us feel bad about the repairs to our daughters teeth needed just put in a plan of action. This office committed FRAUD!! Upon first visit I was happy, until I got the statement of services from Cigna. They sent two claims for orthodontics... billed twice to my insurance!! They also took the $1,500 ortho benefit. Upon discovery one year ago- I reported it to Cigna and they investigated it. The dental office refunded the two claims but over a year later I discovered the ortho $1,500 was never returned- so my ortho benefit is USED UP!!! I can't get braces until this gets resolved. Great local dentist! I wish I lived closer but I make the drive because of the great service and care. It is a very clean and aesthetic office. They have Netflix streaming for when you are getting your teeth cleaned. Friendly dental assistants, and Dr Long does all of the cleanings himself, and personalizes solutions based on what you are trying to accomplish. Definitely doesn't pressure you to get any services that are cosmetic and does his best to get you the best pricing possible. To say this office has changed my life is an understatement. Trust me when I say I am not a person who writes reviews... especially for a dental office but once you READ this review you will understand why I felt the need to share my experience. As I walked in for my initial appointment, I was impressed, everything seemed brand new. The employees were super friendly. Diana the receptionist was so welcoming, greeted me with a huge smile and even said my name before I had the opportunity to introduced myself. I felt like I had been a patient for years. Shortly into my wait the dental assistant Rita called my name and we walked to my exam room. Rita was super knowledgeable and very patient with me as I explained my history and my dental concerns. My x-rays were taken, and the process was very quick and easy. Afterwards, I was introduced to Dr. Dorian Long. Surprisingly Rita had already prepped him, and he was up to speed on my history. I was given an exam and we then discussed a game plan on how I could achieve my ideal smile. I can't even begin to express how appreciative I was of Dr. Long's professionalism and bedside manner. Dr. Long took the time to get to know me as a patient without having to skim through my file. Most importantly he took the time to educate me on my treatment plan for veneers and made me feel confident in knowing the plan was the right move for me. We began the treatment that day and the procedure was completely pain free. A few weeks later I returned for my final procedure. The treatment was completely pain free. After the procedure I was handed a mirror and that moment I will never forget. I did not recognize myself. My smile had completely changed my face. I couldn't even believe that I spent my entire life self-conscious and avoiding my smile and showing my teeth. For the first time in my life I couldn't stop smiling. I can't even put into words how I felt in that moment. All I know is that was a moment I will never forget, and I have Dr. Long to thank for that. A few months before I walked into his office as a woman who lacked self-confidence and self-worth but that day, I walked out a new person. The equipment they use is updated state of the art. I can see my X-rays and images on the TV screen. Great atmosphere all the way around. Let me start out by saying that I.AM.TERRIFIED. of dentists. Like... so afraid that I consider the cost/benefit of letting every tooth painfully and slowly drop out over the course of the next 40 years over going to a dentist. But eventually, pain wins. I saw his Facebook page a few years ago when he first opened up. He posts some cheesy jokes, talks about his dog, mom, aunt... normal things that Lords of Pain don't generally get caught up in. I thought "if I absolutely HAVE to go, I will go to Dr. Long, with the cute dog that named his practice after his mama. And then it happened. Pain. Pain so unbearable that I was dreaming of knocking my tooth out with a rock like Tom Hanks in Castaway. I looked at his website. I sent a desperate "help me" plea. It was after hours and I didn't even think he would see it, really. Who checks those things? This morning, I had a message on my phone before I even settled into my office. It was Dr. Long. Not his assistant, front office... nope! It was the actual dentist. I walked in, heart pounding, shaking, and about to cry. He was at the front desk when I got inside. Wow. What a difference. He didn't give me a list of $25k worth of terrible things that I have to get done. He figured out the problem, gave me 3 possible alternatives to fix the problem, and spoke to me like a friend that I have always known. He said what he would do if it was his tooth... and the crazy thing is he didn't pick the one that would have made him the most money. So we have a plan. I'll take my meds, and then two appointments later it will be permanently fixed. No pain. No anxiety. I am so glad I saw his Facebook pace and I can put the sharp rock back in the garden.
