I visited Tracie Martyn spa for the Purple Ray Facial and my experience did not disappoint! First, the decor and sheer amount of space is something to be sought after. Tall ceilings with ambient light in all the rooms, chandeliers galore, friendly staff - my surroundings very much impact my mood and they nailed it with their interior design. Second, the service itself was fabulous. Marius (owner) is so friendly and has some of the best technology around. I highly recommend a treatment using the Resculptor, which is similar to kybella, minus the recovery. If you're looking to treat yourself, this is the place! Can't wait to go back! read more

For 16 wonderful years i have been coming to this amazing place for facials and products! Once you have the Rescuplting Facial or their Red Carpet Facial you will never ever ever go anywhere else! It takes at least 10 years off, makes your skin look vibrant and regenerated. The client experience for all these years has been outstanding. Always polite, warm and always accommodating but never pushy. Plus their space is absolutely gorgeous so its a seamless experience from the reception area to the rooms. I wanted to wait about a week to write this review to observe my skin- omg. I am Definitely coming back every three weeks. I was on a time crunch so I got the 30 min Express Absolute Purity Facial- the results are amazing. My skin is clear and glowing, and fresh. They use a crystal free (less aggressive on the skin) diamond tipped microdermabrasion- and at the end of the treatment is a peptide enhanced oxygen treatment which did WONDERS for my skin, my skin felt so tight. It was incredible. I'll be back in three weeks to try the 60 minute treatment- the only critique I have was my estheticians table was rather messy- empty orange juice bottles and Starbucks cups, not the best look / adhering to a sanitation standard expected at an establishment like this. read more

This actually may have been one of the worst facials I've gotten- and not only compared to the high end spots I've been (Peninsula is my favorite facial in Manhattan) but even compared to those cheapy ones I got when I was in my early 20's. Worse than all of them. I am so confused by the other reviews- but if you scroll to the bottom you see there are negative reviews that are hidden- and those are the only one's that seem credible and honest to me. Not sure why they aren't showing up... Anyway, I am 31, have normal to combination skin, no real skin "issues"- but my skin can congested from living in the city and it gets dried out in the fall - so I like to pop in and try nice salons to get pampered when it needs it. So I decided next on my list would be Tracie Martyn- and was so excited. I called to book my appointment and get some advice on which facial would be best since I hadn't been- and ended up with the resculpting facial. It was a bit unclear to me what exactly this facial entailed but I had told them about my skin over the phone and this was where we ended up. The idea- which I found out mid treatment and of course didn't actually work or I wouldn't have given it 1 star- is that they zap your face in little areas and it's supposed to sculpt your face it in some way. I don't have Natasha Polys cheekbones by any means, so I thought- this could be fun. It will give my face some shape and train my muscles which will make my face look tighter. I literally- for $375 plus tax and tip- cannot possibly tell you one difference this facial made to my face. Not only the shape of my face- but my skin. No difference whatsoever. I understand (now) that this isn't supposed to be a traditional facial- but for some reason i assumed they would still do a deep cleaning and maybe a mask of some sort? Or at least when I left that my overall skin would look better in some way? I just expect that from expensive facials no matter what. But 2 quick stories for context: Half way through the facial- after the esthetician had cleansed my skin and dont who knows what (they don't walk you through the steps there like they do at other salons) she goes "so, what type of skin do you have", Now keep in mind we're already half way done. If a) she has been doing who knows what to my skin for 30 minutes without knowing what kind of skin I have and b) she needs to actually ask me- that's a pretty big issue in itself. I said "well, what kind of skin do YOU think i have?" I can't remember her answer- I am not sure she gave me one. Then she did the zapping and then put something else on my face- and I was done. Still no idea what had just happened. So I paid (425 dollars, mind you). And called my husband to vent and then realized I actually really didn't have any idea what exactly was done or what was on my face at the moment. So I called back and said, "Sorry to bother you- but I'm just wondering if I am able to put make up on tonight- typically after facials I let me face breath but I have no idea what's on my face right now..if anything at all" and she said "you can definitely wear make up! you just have moisturizer on. so you're totally fine". Huh? What did you guys just do that whole time? I have never felt so scammed in my life. So anyway, I am beyond disappointed and so upset I wasted time and money there - but at least I can (hopefully) prevent a few other women from making this mistake. I see a few people didn't have good experiences here. The key to this place is acting like the star that you know you are. Saunter into the private salon and dramatically lounge on the sofa. Leave on your sunglasses and enjoy the offered tea and petite cookie plate while you think of Monte Carlo. And if you have a bad experience - make sure you call and ask for Marius (Tracie's biz partner) and tell him about it. As long as you were not rude to the staff and paid your bill you deserve the full (and fantastic) TM treatment. They will surely make it right! As far as the treatments and products go - they absolutely get results. The rooms are clean and comfortable - but relaxation is sometimes hard depending on the level of traffic outside on Fifth avenue. The facialists are respectfully friendly and go about their business in a clinical, precise manner. If you don't like something (you are cold, uncomfortable, whatever) speak up and they will accomodate you. The oils, cleansers and serums are heavenly ( I have also used the Enzyme Exfoliator and Firming Serum at home and loved them, though the Serum can be a bit heavy depending on your skin needs) I don't know how effective they are if you need some major rejuvenation - but if you just want to look incredibly glowy, less puffy or more toned after a weight loss they are definately the ticket. Ok, so there is a slight smell of burning flesh and the regime is costly (they recommend a session of 3 or 4 treatments in a weekly succession and then follow up treatments every month.) I did go thru the 3 treatments and a few followups before some major events and (if I do say so myself ) looked quite starlike and stunning! Not a part of my regular beauty program but definately a nice treat several times a year if you can swing it. My husband still teases that I could get the same effect with some oils and an electrical socket at home (ain't he lovely!) but if you are either looking for some super pampering, about to be presented to society or just want to throw money around take a visit to Tracie's place. read more

They are 15 minutes late to my scheduled appointment and I am very frustrated because I moved around work to accommodate this facial...which wasn't cheap. So I suppose i am a little disappointed. I went to Tracie a month ago and had the best facial I have ever had, everything from technique to relaxation to results were amazing. I require a lot of TLC and extraction hence why I don't mind paying for 'the best' and the technician was outstanding. However I went back for the 2nd facial in my package of 4 that cost me just shy of $1,000 and was told on arrival that my technician was not available and that I would be having someone else. I wasn't that put off as i presumed the same level of expertise and care would be taken. I was wrong. I left with a semi-average facial that was no where near as thorough or executed with the same talent as I would expect for the price. I will be insisting on my first technician when I go back to finish my package, if she is not available again I will simply rebook or ask for my money back. I would move into this spa if they would let me. It's an absolutely beautiful, peaceful, airy loft in the heart of Flatiron. The staff there are really kind and perfect advertisements for the services there. They all have flawless but natural (no frozen surprised expressions). There is one very special and perfect for a depressing NY dead of winter treatment that I absolutely adore: the Ruby Ray. It looks like a tanning bed, which appeals to the Italian Queens girl suppressed inside me, but what it does is the exact OPPOSITE of a tanning bed- it literally heals and perfects the often neglected skin on the body. I've had about 8 weekly sessions and my skin has never looked better. I have tons of scars from animal rescue related adventures and they are all significantly lighter if not gone completely. My skin is a lot tighter too. All this in 15 minutes. And it even gives you a healthy dose of SAD therapy, perfect for when you work so much that you miss the sun entirely. The facials are an investment, yes, but they PAY OFF BIG TIME. I highly recommend trying just one and seeing the changes for yourself. I'm not sure about these negative reviews... I have experienced the best facials and care here. I've had facials at the top spas and facialists in NY and have found Tracie's team to be the best. Their approach and products are all natural and noninvasive. I also use their products at home and found that my skin glows and is all around more healthy than before. You cannot go wrong with their services or products. The salon is peaceful and I always feel like I am the only guest there due to their attentiveness and fantastic customer service. This is my favorite place in NYC, and the best facial I have ever had. After my first treatment at Tracie Martyn, I knew I would never go anywhere else. I could not believe the difference in my skin. It is no wonder people fly in from all over the world to go to Tracie Martyn. It is the gold standard in skin care. I booked an appointment as my skin had been dull and breaking out. After only a couple treatments, I had glowing beautiful skin. I also loved the beautiful space and the wonderful staff, who were kind, welcoming and created a perfect environment. I had an awful experience. Got the uber expensive resculpting facial and it turned out to be a half hour session with woman with really cold hands. She barely spent enough time on my face and then ushered me out. I called to talk to someone about it and the front desk told me they'll call me back. No one called back and when i called them again, I was told that they're off to the Oscars and therefore will take care of me the next time! Most facials I've had (I modeled for 15 years and got facials monthly) have been very relaxing and extraction-focused. Do not take this to mean I had a bad experience, but Tracie's Red Carpet Facial is neither. I don't know how to put it except that facials here are not to be taken lightly, these people mean business and business means hard work on your skin. Let me explain. The Red Carpet Facial includes the cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing parts that are typical of your usual facial. This facial, however, also includes a gentle diamond-tipper microdermabrasion done with a machine that feels like a cross between a cat licking your face and a vacuum. It made me want to giggle and take the machine home with me. What follows was the serious bit. Tracie developed a machine (or two?) which I presume has the end-goal of lymph drainage, which is both good for you if done on occasion an very slimming for your face and neck. I can only describe what the rest feels like: small rubbery pads reminiscent of those used in physical therapy (if you'e had it) are attached to your lower cheeks and later under the chin, and a very light current is passed through them. Some people won't feel this at all. However, I am incredibly sensitive to these things and immediately felt the faint buzzing and tingling of the current. Additionally, I tasted metal until the pads were removed. To me, this is a testament that something is happening (*not* a placebo as some have suggested). Then little rods are lightly touched to your face that also produce a light tingly feeling. Its really not strong, but I'm a wimp so it was slightly uncomfortable. The esthetician was very attentive and asked if I wanted her to turn down the machine a little, but I wanted to continue to feeling it. No pain, no gain, right? I left thinking "well, it looks like I had a facial..." but over the next few days of using the lifting cream I noticed my face looking brighter, contoured, my most visible sun spot fading and my broken capillaries are much less visible. The other day I went to a breakfast get-together without make up, something I don't think I would have been comfortable doing if it weren't for my experience at Tracie Martyn. So I started using the contour cream on my chest as well... and I'm not kidding there has been some lift there too!! So I'm a believer. Its a miracle product. The decor is whimsical, but elegant, the bathrooms are enviably large. The staff is polite and professional looking. I highly recommend the red carpet facial before a big event (shoot or wedding). read more

I attempted to order on line 2 cosmetics from Tracy Martyn web site. It is supposedly well known salon in NY and web site, used by celebrities. I had to sign up and to my astonishment I saw my password published, the products do not have the quantity next to the picture, and you can only see the price once you order it. On first attempt my good credit card was declined, then when I entered another CC, it said that "one of the items is out of stock". I stopped that order and attempted to order one of the product guessing which one is in stock. Turned out that that one was in stock, Lucky me!. Then I saw in my email: two orders confirmed: two product I initially attempted to order and the next one: one of the same products. I called customer service and asked to cancel my account (due to published password) and both orders. I was promised it will be done, next day I noticed shipping confirmation on both orders. Several phone calls later company rep stopped the shipping, I am waiting for credit to my cc account. Very poor web site, slow customer service requiring numerous phone calls to take action. Honestly don't know what all the hype is. My daughter treated me for my birthday to a facial at TM. I thought it was very good and the esthitician was sweet...however...They were all buzzing at the reception desk because someone "important" was coming that day and they could have cared less about anyone else. The man who works there, I think is one of the owners and the most put on pretentious person...should not be in a service industry!Such attitude and just rude. Negative energy exudes! The girls at the front desk were lovely, and the facialist was charming and really talented. And days after I ran into an old friend who said, "you look great! You've had some work done, haven't you." I hadn't, and it made me feel good! You can see that Tracie Martyn has really put her heart into every aspect of this place - surroundings to staff to products. 2 celebrities came in while I was there - they both seemed to be regulars - and I was treated equally well. I've been going to Tracie Martyn Salon for over a year now. I was used to getting monthly facials and in the past had tried all the top spas in the city. None of them is as good as Tracie! Her facials are extremely results-oriented, but super serene and peaceful. You always come out glowing and looking amazing. With regular treatments, I love the Purple Ray, my skin stays in much better condition. I also love her products - the cleanser, toner and lotion are my favorites. It doesn't get any better than at Tracie Martyn! Going to the spa on lower 5th avenue is better than any mere spa experience. It is a beautiful and otherworldly lit space that brings immediate inner peace. The chic, spare space, the skylights, the color palette, and the furniture makes for both a grounding and New Age feeling. Everyone who works there makes you feel welcome and pampered from the moment you get off the elevator. When you arrive, you are offered water or ginger tea. Depending on your timing, you are ushered to the glamorous, comfortable seating or to the room for your service. All of the facialists have been there for years and care deeply about the experience of each and all of the clients. Unlike some facials, these are the most sybaritic and effective I have had--anywhere and ever. Talk with the facialists eventually slows down as your mind and and body relax into the bed and give way to deep relaxation and even a refreshing snooze. No matter which facial you have, you feel and look amazing! And it lasts! The products which were developed painstakingly and meticulously by Marius are amazing; their smell and feel are heavenly. I have been going to the spa and using the products for more than 18 years. It's the perfect antidote to a busy life; it is healing inside and out! read more

This place came highly recommended, and I'm sorry to say they seem to be more interested in touting their celebrity clientele (the waiting area is littered with magazines highlighted with famous recommendations) then giving excellent service to all their customers. The facial I had -- not given by Tracie -- was terrible. The aesthetician was barely engaged in her work, and did not provide the services that were described in my pre-facial hard sell (before going into my room I was shown a PR book of before-and-after photos and told what to expect as part of my service). When I politely let my dissatisfaction known after my facial, I was told that the manager who was not present, would call me on Monday. I never heard from anyone again. (I even had the decency to leave a nominal tip.) I am rather shocked by the lack of professionalism and care at Tracie Martyn, and feel quite foolish for spending $250 on a facial (the least expensive one!), especially when I've gotten terrific facials just up the street at White Tea spa for half the price. I would never, ever recommend this place to anyone -- wealthy, famous or not. A sham is never worth the price. read more

So I've been a die hard fan of Travis Martyn skincare ever since I was introduced to it at ABC home store. The sales associate kept encouraging me to try out the facials but being that I already had one I love it was hard to talk me into it. A few years ago I tried tracie Martyn spa out and was disappointed at the results. The same price facial elsewhere in my experience of holistic places was way more thorough. But being that I had a 30% discount from Bergdorf Goodman promotion I decided to give it another go. I believe I got the purple ray facial this time bc that's the only one that includes extractions. The Facialist was nice and gave me some suggestions for maintenance. Front desk staff extremely friendly. But I still felt like the facial treatment was so so. There still seemed to be pimples and black heads not removed a few days later post treatment. But it was relaxing. I still would stick with my regular go to Facialist - Monica Watters of sacred touch. She is way more thorough and even includes energy work and tarot reading with her facials. read more

Wow, what a disappointment!! I read allot about Tracie's signature facials and was really looking forward for my treatment. When I came to her clinique, a lovely girl greeted me and explained about the procedure: she mentioned the treatment is so effective that it goes beyond the skin and targets the mussels and that when I'll come out of it - I will immediately see visible difference and of course - no expression lines!! Then, the aestheticism came and led me to the room. The atmosphere was over the top & tacky, with fake diamond chandeliers - something about it completely turned me off at that point. The facial began, I had an exfoliating mask treatment, and then the aesthetician targeted my skin with the re-sculpting machine that Tracie invented. It wasn't calming or relaxing - and basically felt like nothing! I was very disappointing and felt the whole thing is a total placebo! The facial lasted 1hour, and was not at all effective. when I was done, the aesthetician told me how my skin "looks amazing" - I saw no difference and was put off by the whole experience.
