You can tell they are dog-lovers since there is about twice as much aisle space dedicated to dogs as there is to cats. The selection of cat toys and brushes was still impressive for such a small shop, though. They also sell various other pet supplies, from birds seed to fish food. The staff is nice. The man at the counter was advising other customers about dog food and gave me some advice about grooming brushes for my cat. He recommended one but said they were all out, and told me when he expected the next shipment in.

She and her staff know the inventory and can do special orders. They are very friendly and helpful. Laura owns dogs but not cats. That's why she is interested in hearing my feedback on all the cat-related products. One of our cats has fur slightly longer than "domestic short hair" length. Even after we started brushing him, he had two separate bouts of life-threatening furballs. I did some research. Apparently, beet pulp is used in dry cat food to help push furballs out of the body before they can get large and life-threatening. Since starting to eat Blue Buffalo Indoor Health kibble, which contains beet pulp, the furballs have not been a major problem. Laura told me she was grateful to know that sort of information. She really wants to provide the best possible service to all her customers. Our last dog was allergic to all sorts of things. At W2W, I was able to find several types of dog cookies that she could eat. We fed her a home-made diet because of the allergies, but it was nice to be able to buy already-made cookies. Our current dog is as healthy as a horse. We have to keep her away from the self-serve bulk cookie bins, as she would grab a mouthful if she could. W2W has all the pet supplies that really matter. Premium kibble and canned foods, treats & toys, grooming supplies, etc. There might be larger stores, but they don't have anything new to offer me and my pets.

They have plenty of space in which to move around in their facilities which always makes me feel better about leaving them. The staff at Beekel have always been exceptionally accommodating and pleasant. We have never had a problem. The only minor complaint I might note is that their hours are a bit limited. But we have managed to navigate around that limitation without a great deal of difficulty. And even when I have called during off-hours, I have been able to leave a message and I have always received a call back. They are the best value around the area for pet boarding from my experience.

The storeroom itself is an old drafty building which doesn't make it very cozy and honestly lowered my expectations, but by the time I walked out of the door I couldn't have cared less about that. It was one of those rare old school retail transactions that you just don't get with today's corporate retail environment.
