The ONLY sign I saw was halfway down that dirt road that mentioned the Humane Society was ahead. There is also a URL on their site that has absolutely nothing to do with the Humane Society. It is in Japanese and does not mention animals at all. Why haven't they taken it down yet? And why not better directions to their building? More signs would certainly help, also.

The shelter already had a stringent adoption policy in place for any dog they suspected of having an undesirable bloodline, but it now has decided to change its policy. The problem is that they didn't decide on a new policy before they revoked the old one. Now there are several dogs, it is unclear how many, that simply have nowhere to go. Families desperately wanting to adopt them, and willing to jump through any hoops, are told they can do nothing but wait. In the meantime, however, these dogs are not getting the care they require. This issue is very personal for me. There is a beautiful and kind dog, Cloud, which I have been trying to adopt for almost 2 weeks. My husband and I have visited her every day, brought her treats on her 6-month birthday, taken her for walks, and have spent hours rubbing her belly. Several times when we came to visit, her cage had urine in it, yet we have been biting our tongues out of respect for how difficult it must be to run a shelter. But on Sunday when I went to see her, she was covered in urine and feces. I couldn't stand it anymore, and I confronted the manager about their refusal to let me adopt Cloud. He said they were adding a "questionnaire" to their adoption policy for "bully" breeds. He told me that he could tell me it would just take another week, but that he would be lying. The hold is indefinite, and he has no idea how long it will take to draft up this questionnaire. I am a proud woman: a teacher at Purdue, in the middle of getting a PhD, but I literally begged him to tell me what I could do to adopt her. In tears, I said I would fill any questionnaire, get as many letters of recommendation as he wanted, get a letter from every vet I've known, have a home visit, anything. But, no. I'm helpless. And the adorable puppy that I have fallen in love with is still in a cage today, covered in urine and feces. Please, Tippecanoe County Humane Society. Your mission is to help dogs find good homes. Be reasonable; be compassionate. We all love animals. We all want the same thing. Finish your questionnaire or let us adopt under the old policy until you finish it. See reason; you are only hurting the animals and loving families with your inflexible position.

Seems to lack adequate management that educates and values the employees And strictly sticking to that bottom dollar. Revalue the priority of being the only local pet store and focus on that aspect of your community so it can in return elevate that bottom dollar issue leading to exceptional service and what the customer is truly expecting walking into a pet store. I follow them on Facebook and noticed a post about planning to participate in the Empress Chinchilla National Show. Being curious I look up this other group and discovered this Empress group does pelt shows and even was raffling off a teddy bear made from chinchilla pelt. While I know that NWI Chinchillas doesn't pelt their chins, I still posted a comment condemning this Empress group and their pelt shows and chinchilla fur coats. That comment ended up getting me banned from their Facebook page and my comment deleted. Shocked to see NWI Chinchillas defending a group who kills and plets chinchillas.

I called them this morning to claim him-would have been happy to pay the fees-but they wouldn't hold him for me until Saturday as they said "it was first come, first served" by the time the animals got to Petsmart. I can't get out to the location as I don't have a vehicle and it takes me 2 hours by bus to get to Petsmart from where I live. I have photos of him that prove he's my cat but no, they won't wait. Their practices are abhorrent and their policies inane. They're absolute jerks for not working with me.

The kitty I brought home had fleas even though they supposedly treated her. Fleas are not easy to get rid of, especially if you have more than one pet. I have one other cat and so had to buy 3 months (the minimal amount of time to truly get rid of all of the fleas that so quickly can infest your home) worth of flea medication for both of them, the price can add up if you have multiple animals. I just recommend that if you are going to adopt an animal from here, you have at least an extra $200 for possible medications they may need from being in a crowded environment, and take advantage of the free check up the shelter offers at a veterinarian ASAP-that alone will save you at least $60. Again, my new kitty has brought so much love and joy into our home and I'm so glad that I got her, but just be aware that pests are a possible problem and you may need to take extra care when adopting from here.

Even after we arrived home, he followed us with a short message to inform us how to take care of these koi and asked us to update him the status of these fish. I really want to love this feed store. I have tried to shop there for over a decade, off and on…read moreagain, but every time I stop in, I am so disappointed. The staff is not particularly friendly, and while helpful, they leave one feeling as if they are an inconvenience or just plain dumb. The last time I was in, I had some questions regarding specific food for our puppy who needed, per our vet, a food that was more grain-forward, and the girl kept showing me high protein brands. When I questioned her again, she looked at her colleagues and rolled her eyes. It is not unreasonable to expect a feed store to have alternative diet options than just grain-free dog food and treats, especially at the price range they in which they are offering their products. What's more, puppy foods do come in more than just chicken, even in brands than what they offer. I went to another store, who offered to help me order it, and when I reached out to the actual company, they sent me my first bag for FREE! To be a local, small business owner is hard, I get it, but if you continually reject your neighbors, who want to shop at your business, we will just choose to go somewhere else. On another occasion, I was in line behind an older woman, presumably in her late 60's, who was inquiring about a job, she had completed an application, and had some questions. I was not in a hurry, was not upset, and had not expression to indicate that I was bothered - quite the contrary! The young girl at the service counter was so incredibly rude to this woman, snapped answers to the applicant, rolled her eyes, sighed loudly, and showed very visibly her impatience. The applicant walked out, hopeful. The cashier then handed the application to another woman who had walked up, who just slid it into a folder under the desk, and filed it. They both apologized profusely to me for the inconvenience and "bother," to which I replied, it is not a crime to seek employment. I explained that I was not in a hurry, and that we all should show kindness to those who are desperately seeking employment at this time of year. I did note that day that there are no older folks working there, and really no one of diverse background. It is all young girls. Strange really. Anyway, I realized that day, that this is not really a place I feel I want to do business, especially when every time I go in, I do not feel welcome to shop, to ask questions, or think they even appreciate me as a consumer. Too bad, as it is a very niche business and vital for many pet and livestock owners.
