It reminds me of the kind of boutiques I would shop when I lived in Chicago and Austin and that I miss. Scout carries a fun variety. There is top quality vintage furniture and home goods with plenty of new products as well. You can find Baggu reusable bags, fun stationary, quirky gifts like Queer Eye or Golden Girls candles, stickers, and keychains. Today there was even a plant pop-up shop. The owner is the operator and is very friendly. I truly hope this store does well as it fills a niche here in Lafayette that we don't have otherwise. I only worry that not enough people know about this little gem. My only "complaints" would be that I want MORE! More hours (right now they're only open from Wed-Sat 10-3 which means I can only make it on a Saturday) and more inventory! More stationary, and small inventory.

They are super…read moreheavily focused on new vinyl only, but the selection is pretty good and includes many new styles, as well as typical classic rock, blues/jazz, classical, hip-hop, etc. In the back on the floor are a small selection of used vinyl, though it's a tiny selection with not much to pick from. As someone who likes picking through vinyl for a good deal, I was super pleased to find the many bins of Clearance Vinyl along the floor under the main shelves of records. There is a ton of "old stock" new vinyl under there, many that have been marked down to well under $10. I'm really into mid 2000s vinyl and I found a good chunk of things I've been looking for down there, still sealed, waiting over a decade for me to pick through it. Stop by and give the place a look. You'll hopefully find something worth stopping by for. And while you're in, check out the insane selection of other things. The overall shop is a mixture of a head shop, record shop, bookstore, novelty store, jewelry store, and comic book store, and it seems to go on forever. A very unique and cool addition that any smaller college town would be immensely jealous of!

I'm now taking a tap dance class, and tried out this store this afternoon in order to buy tap shoes (wanting to try them on before buying, and spend my money locally). Unfortunately, I received the WORST customer service of my life. Absolutely horrible. Snooty dance people running this store, I walked in and was not even ACKNOWLEDGED for close to 20 minutes. They had several other customers, but I stood 2 feet away from a saleswoman and she didn't even look at me. Finally got some help, bought the shoes quickly (as I need them for class this weekend and don't have time to order online), left even faster. HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED. Buy your dance shoes online or elsewhere, these people don't deserve your hard-earned money. I waited 15 minutes until I had help but I took that time to look at the selection of merchandise. The reason it took a while was that she was helping a young dancer with her ballet shoe elastic. And then it was my turn. The store owner couldn't have been sweeter and more patient with me. So my take on the situation, based on my experience, is that if you have patience, you will get phenomenal, knowledgeable, personal service and not be rushed. My next bit of advice: Pay close attention to the website which lists the very, VERY limited hours. If you cannot come during those hours, call and you can get info on how to arrange hours by appointment. They are very accommodating! I visited to look for ballroom dance shoes. Because I wear a hard-to-find size (10.5), I was skeptical but dancers from my class suggested I try anyway. I was amazed at the huge selection of shoes in every size and color imaginable! What a treat to have multiple pairs from which to choose! If you wear a 10.5, you know what I'm talking about! She purposely makes sure to keep a wide range of sizes including very large and very small shoes. The owner was very knowledgeable about shoes, feet, materials, dancing, etc. She asked about my concerns and my foot issues and she rushed around, producing pair after pair of shoes in my size. After weeks of searching, purchasing and returning ballroom shoes online, I finally found just what I wanted. I also wanted a certain color for a special occasion and she searched catalogs until she found a pair she thought I would like and then, at her own expense, ordered them in multiple sizes so I wouldn't be disappointed when I returned to try them on. And I wasn't! So, yes, it may take a few minutes to be waited on but it will be worth your wait.

The staff is always friendly, smart, knows where their inventory is, and great dealing with. I've ordered online for pickup too which makes faster shipping during busy weekends. The store's reward program add up well, useful for my infrequent purchases nabbing some dollars off. Shorts are good here too, the fleece and khaki are excellent. I'm not youthful enough for many of the items due to the large logos but accessories like belts and flipflops work often into everyday fits. Parking is often plentiful at this end of the mall.
