From the moment I asked where to find my information, the staff's behavior was dismissive and condescending. The manager ignored me entirely, and the sales associates spoke to me as if I were doing something wrong. It became clear that I was being profiled and treated like a crazy person--simply for asking a basic question about a service they advertise. No customer should ever feel unwelcome or singled out because of what they look like, especially at a place that is supposed to care about pets and the people who love them. This experience was unacceptable and hurtful. Petco needs to address how its employees are trained in customer service and ensure that no one else has to endure the kind of discrimination I faced. I have purchased a bird (Indian ringneck) they will hand feed it until it is ready to come home with me. Oh oh oh and guess what, they let me come visit my bird each day!! I started to feel really unsafe about the purchase after a little over a week and a half based on conflicting communication regarding shipping and delivery of the bird, and I ended up formally disputing the sale through PayPal when the seller claimed he could not provide any kind of shipping evidence. I have been contacted by a couple of other women who also claim to have had negative experiences with this seller. I am very thankful I purchased through PayPal, as I'm sure the situation will work out. I still lost valuable time waiting for the bird that never came, along with sleep over all of the anxiety I experienced. We will purchase our birds locally from now on. **UPDATE** PayPal took all of the evidence provided by both sides and sided with me in less than a week. I've been refunded the full purchase price and am so relieved this is over. I'm so, SO impressed with PayPal! The seller has written his side out against me on his page, under the bird I purchased. He actually called *me* a scammer, and is threatening adverse legal action to aggressively pressure and intimidate me. The absolute lack of professionalism is astounding! This has been a really scary experience and a nightmare for my family. My poor son especially was so excited only to be crushed. We are recovering now and are looking forward to a much better experience with a breeder we can visit. I did provide payment in full well in advance of receiving the bird, as is common when purchasing baby birds Emails were generally returned within a few days. So, it's surprising to read the negative reviews here, many of which appear to be from completely unhinged individuals. I think some of these complaints are from people who simply don't understand the timelines involved in purchasing baby birds. You don't just submit payment and get next day shipping. It can take months depending on the age of the bird since they should not be sold prior to weaning.
