Amazing business with very friendly staff and have a much more lenient return policy then the big soulless corporate chains. If I can think of a negative it is that the selection is a little bit smaller, so if you want something very niche like silver vine, it may not be here, but they make you feel like family here. The prices compare to the chains but you can support a small local business. I love this place I will probably add more later read more

I found it a lil spendy and frou frou, but if you want dog food with t-bone steak images on the packaging and salmon swimming in Alaskan streams by black bears, this is for you. Indie feeling. Some cute treats and dog gear. If you're dog needs its own camping setup they have it. I would have liked more dress up stuff. If we're going to treat our pets like people then they need to get dressed up! I was disgusted that they sold cat items. By the front no less. An interesting and fun browse. Claire is the greatest groomer! She is so loving, caring, and patient with the dogs. I took my 13 year old dog to get her nails clipped today, and my dog is extremely nervous with fats and groomers. Claire allowed both me and my husband to come in and help keep Hunter calm, while she did a great job at cutting down her very long nails. I highly recommend her! We also saw an adorable little Yorky terrier that she had groomed while we were there, and she did an excellent job on the little dog. She is very caring and loving towards the little animals. Unacceptable!! Grooming Room is EXTREMELY HOT! I would say it is dangerously hot! I took my dog to get her nails trimmed and had to go back with her. There is only ONE small vent to cool the entire room and while I was there, there weren't even any doggy dryers on. Quite honestly, I can't even imagine how hot this room would be with dryers running. I also went at 5:00, when the sun was down and it was still so hot you could barely breathe in the room!! Please save your pup and consider going elsewhere until the owner fixes the air conditioning. In the summer, it will be even hotter. I spoke with the manager and another lady working there, and they said they had turned off the air, because they were getting ready to close. Even still, there is only one small vent to cool this entire room. This is really unacceptable! This room ought to be used as a storage space, but certainly not for grooming dogs. This store just recently relocated, and their previous location had a great grooming room, but I would rate this grooming room a zero. If they are going to do grooming, they definitely need to spend some money and have proper airflow back to the dogs. read more

Been shopping there since I moved here in 2002. I buy only Premium kibbles and Raw dehydrated food for my dogs. A bit pricier than online stores but not as pricey as other pet boutiques. They do have a $5 discount for every $100 you spend. Staff is mostly friendly. Debbie and Glenda are very knowledgeable and will help you make the right choice for your dog. I buy my Zignature premium kibbles mostly from PetFlow online now because of my autoship discount. But I buy my raw freeze dried turkey nuggets from them since they often have a coupon or a promotion going on for a nice discount. I recommend them every chance I get. They carry a higher grade food quality than Petco and the likes. Every month they have a low cost vet clinic in store where you can buy Comfortis, Trifexis etc and get a rebate coupon. After my dog had surgery recently, I decided I needed to take more control of his overall health. So I went online and researched everything from supplements to types of dog food. I went from feeding him Nutro kibbles to Blue Buffalo grain free line of dog food. However, I was convinced that there was a better alternative for him with very little to zero preservatives. My research came upon the raw food diet. I've heard a lot of stories from friends and others about how well their dogs were thriving on a raw food diet and the benefits of it. There are some drawbacks such as higher price and the inconvenience of it being raw, but there are freeze-dried options. As for the price, what's that when your dog is healthy? Well enough of that. My research brought me to the Primal brand of raw food diet. The Primal website allows you to locate stores in your area that carries Primal. Dog Lovers was on the list so I called ahead to make sure the store carried it. There was a Dog Lovers in Tampa but it closed down. I hate driving on US 19, but there's nothing I wouldn't do for my dog so I made the dreaded trek there. The store is the size of a pet supermarket. As I walked in, I was helped right away and directed to the raw food section. The store has a pretty good selection of raw food brands along with dry and canned food. The store also carries strollers, beds and a lot of other items. It has mostly everything I need or want for my dog. I was given brochures on the different raw food brands to bring home and read which was nice. The employee was also very helpful explaining the raw food diet brands. The store setup made it easy to find things and they also have a mailing list you can subscribe to for monthly specials. I'll definitely be coming back when my dog runs out of food. read more

I have been going to dog lovers for the past five years, typically spending about $150/mo for our pets. As part of a dog food punch card, we have been getting the buy 9 get one free. This has been honored/part of their policy for the entire time that I've been going here. Last month, I came in and they didn't honor this policy, stating that we didn't affix the stamps in properly. We clearly had the right number of stamps and whether we glue them or staple them shouldn't make a difference-- least of all since we're such regular loyal customers. The sales person not only denied us but was so incredibly rude-- I've never been yelled at like that. It's not even worth it. But it's upsetting that people treat other people that way. Very upsetting. I will not be going there ever again, even if I have to drive further to get our dog food. Dog lovers they are not! read more

When I moved here I did a search for stores that would sell frozen raw food and could find none, so for the last two years I've been making the food for my dogs - very expensive and very time consuming. I headed down there immediately and was able to find every thing I needed...and the prices were great! I'm thrilled to have found Dog Lovers because I can now feed my dogs a healthy raw diet without the hassle of having to make it. This was a nice privately owned local pet store with a surprisingly wide selection of pet food and toys and gifts. A few times a month, they host a low-cost pet vaccination clinic as well. It is rather hidden off the highway, so slow down and keep a very close eye out for the turn when you go. I missed it and had to turn around a couple times, but it was worth it in the end. read more

Although their prices are a bit more than your average Petco or Pet Supermarket....the products they carry are far more superior than the average pet store. The folks that work at Dog Lovers are very knowledgeable and you can tell that they care about your pet as if they were their own pet. They have no problem taking products back if your pet doesn't like them or if something is not right (ie- I bought a harness and it broke- it was warrantied by the manufacturer, which I had no idea!) Had I not brought it to the woman's attention, I would have thrown the harness away and never gave it a thought again. I think that Dog Lovers is a true example of a fantastic family owned business that cares about its customers and their pets.
