Hmmm! Easy call. Early Saturday morning. Place is well staffed. Unlike the big orange warehouse, where most staff have mastered the art of avoiding eye contact, employees here come up to you and ask you if you need help. Yes! I could meander for 15 minutes or get help and I am shown to the exact location. Score! Woo Hoo. Wait!!! They have Zinsser primer in stock. Yup, grab one of those. Go up to the register. Young man, I need help in paint dept. within 20 seconds, a terrific young lady helps and paint is shaken, not stirred. ; ) Back at checkout, with many more than I came for. Same young man at checkout. Terrific guy. That's the reason I frequent Ace and True Value and avoid the warehouses. This is a decent-sized Ace Hardware store. Do they have everything the warehouse carries? No, of course not. This is not a football field-sized store. Do they carry just about everything a good hardware carries? Yup. And I like the way this building looks. So that's a bonus.

After catching that and finally getting what I had paid for, the 36", I should have realized something was off. Didn't think about it again until the night of the storm when I discovered as I was shoveling they hadn't assembled the shovel with correct hardware that actually comes with the shovel. Had only an half hour shoveling when the shovel blade fell off the handle. Next day I ordered one from Amazon, not only less expensive but with all the correct hex bolts, and locking nuts that are included with the purchase. I feel the wonderful people at this Ace Hardware really "screwed" me on the number of hardware pieces in the assembly - gave me wrong hardware (a few actual screws with nuts), not even close to what actually comes from the snowplow company. Left with a defective piece of very necessary equipment. A complete failure with I most needed to clear the driveway. As they say, buyer beware.

Last week they went above and beyond, clearly deserving of media mention. Last summer I purchased a Weber Grill. I immediately had an issue with the casters not working. I called Ernie who dispatched his crew to retrieve the grill and try to fix it. It was missing many screws and one of the casters had fallen off. The crew brought back the grill, supposedly fixed but I have had difficulty with the same casters since last year. They will lock in place, and not stay unlocked thus making it almost impossible to move my grill. Finally, last week one of the casters just broke off entirely. This was two days before my July Fourth cookout. I called Ernie back and he immediately remembered me and dispatched another crew to assess the situation . When the crew arrived, they realized they would again have to take the grill back to the shop. A few hours later I got a call from Mike asking me if I wanted to have the repair done by Weber under the warranty or if I wanted them to try to put on new casters. I told them to put on universal casters because I did not want the same casters from Weber. A few hours later I got a call from Mike telling me the repair was complete and could they drop off the grill. I said sure and how much did I owe them. I was then informed I didn't owe them anything. I cannot thank them enough. I especially want to shout out Ernie, Mike and the owners , Mark and Alex Jaconski who run an exceptional business.
