Horrible customer service. Can't ask a simple question without employees acting as if it bothers them to speak to you.

I have been visiting West Ajo Feeds for at least 15 years of my life. My mother has been coming…read morehere long before that even, when the amazing Chuck was still here and running the place. My first memories of West Ajo include a purple horse brush that I desperately wanted to purchase so I could groom my horse, Patches. I saved up my allowance for weeks in order to purchase this amazing purple brush. When I got up to the counter, Chuck rang the brush up and, the child that I was, I had not accounted for tax. Embarrassed, I said I didn't have enough -- and I remember Chuck laughing, saying how unfair taxes were, and he told me to take the brush home anyways. I was approximately seven at the time and I'm now 30 and still remember this. This is the kind of feed store this place is. Heart and compassion. Family run. Amazing. West Ajo is a family run business that sells all kinds of different livestock feed with a smile, warmth, and the character that you won't see at chain stores. They don't sell toys and clothes in their store but if you come in asking "What is the best feed for my horse" they're going to be able to help you out. I'd take great advice, knowledge about their products, and the kindness they have over a chain store any day. Their prices are competitive. They have a decent selection. And they'll always be there for you if you have questions, need something, or want to post something on their awesome bulletin board. They also support the community and have donated to 4-H events, to the annual Tucson Poultry Pigeon and Fancy Fowl Show in November, and to many other events. Without family run businesses like these, I would hate to think where we'd be. Definitely stop by and say hello to Vinny and the crew at West Ajo Feed and Supply!

They don't honor the same "regular" deals that the North Store offers. I sent my mother in to…read morepurchase some bags of Backyard Delight for me, which are 6.66 each if you buy three or more at the North store. This is a discount from the 7.99 that they are regularly if you only purchase one. But when my mother went into the store, they charged her 7.99 each (so I ended up with 5 bags instead of the 6 that I had originally sent her for). I had this issue before when I stopped by the South store. The first time, the South store told me because they had to transport things from the North store to the South, sometimes things were a little more at the South store (what?). I mentioned my issue to the North store a few weeks later and they told me the discount deal for this particular bag of seed was the same at both stores. Unfortunately, seems like the South store doesn't know this because this is the second time we haven't received the same deal. Looks like I'll just have to shop at the North store from now on -- although it would be nice if the deals are the same at both places.

The hateful and bigoted comments I had to listen to while I was shopping for dog food disappointed me greatly, and I mentioned to the young lady that she might just want to let people be who they were. She and the gentleman who were making laughs at somebody else's expense went into another part of the store. I told the cashier who was ringing me up that she ( the redhead with the bigotry) ought to keep her talk about her class to herself, because that was pretty goddamn offensive. There's a lot of places to buy dog food, and I will be investigating them shortly. I vote with my dollars, too.
