I wish that I could give Tracy Aviary 10 stars, what a good time! The park is very well kept, with beautiful flowers and trees all around. The bird show was the highlight of the day. You get really up close and personal with the birds!

Beautiful, beautiful space. I came here for an event a week ago and I cannot stop raving about everything. We walked through the grounds the day before our event and marveled at how many beautiful birds there were and how extensive their enclosures were. The staff is so attentive and really care about their animals. And the day of our event went so smoothly! It's the perfect space to rent out for an event or just to walk around for the day. 10/10 aviary and event space! And PS: they have baby flamingoes right now!!

Wow - how often does one find an aviary with 16 different areas to see that's on 9 acres! Most are just a couple of buildings. Well... I know why... See, this was originally the Salt Lake City Zoo, that's how. The aviary is kid-friendly with activities, a sand play area, and things to climb. We spent a little over an hour here and rushed it a bit. There are shady areas as well as open areas. Lots of different birds from all over the world.

We've been a handful of times to the aviary now, and once to an event happening just outside the grounds. We absolutely adore it. It's great as a date, as an activity to take out-of-town visitors, or even as a solo walk for inspiration. Pricing is super fair, $15 for adults or $5 after 5PM during summer. It's located in Liberty park, which also has a bunch of stuff going on during summer. The aviary itself has a variety of beautiful birds - from owls to ones that genuinely look like dinosaurs. Several I've never seen before, and I grew up going to zoos. They seem to take care of the birds well, enrichment present and well-sized enclosures. Volunteers are knowledgeable (one was speaking about one species and answering questions in front of their enclosure). There's also a café on site that serves coffee (and dole whips???). They do programming too - I want to come back for one of the birdwatching tours. Can't recommend this space and place enough.

Really cool place to come if you are interested in birds! The location is really nice and there are many areas to walk around and check out. The birds themselves are super cool - I loved seeing the owls and macaws but all of the birds were cool in their own way. Admission was reasonable and staff we encountered were friendly. We were able to see the outdoor bird show which was cool and only about 30 minutes so you had plenty of time to continue exploring on your own. They also offer additional paid experiences if you'd like to get up close and personal with certain birds. Worth checking out!

What a cool spot! If you're into birds or wildlife, or even if you aren't, Tracy Aviary is a fantastic spot to explore. Perhaps the only negative was that the staff weren't very friendly or helpful, but they provide maps so that's not a huge problem. Some things are currently closed due to avian flu, but there was still a lot to scope out. Lots of birds, some indoor areas, and even some atriums to walk through. The place seems pretty well maintained, and it was very cool to see so many different birds. It was worth the money, and entertained us for about an hour.

This place is incredible. It is a small zoo but they have so many cool species! The enclosures are the proper size and set up to where you can see multiple angles up close. We can't wait to visit next time we are in SLC! Also very inexpensive gift shop compared to other zoos. The cafe has such great coffee and service! 10/10 would recommend!! Oh and the baby flamingos were the icing on the cake for sure

My boyfriend took me here to a surprise aviary light show. The employees transformed the aviary into a holiday lights spectacle! It was magical! The people working there were super friendly, and the amenities, like food and hot drinks, were delicious. This is the perfect place for a lovely date night or family outing!

Located in Liberty Park Tracy Aviary is the oldest Aviary in the nation and features over 400 birds representing over 130 different species. Surrounded by trees in a quiet part of SLC guests should plan to spend approximately two hours roaming the grounds in order to see everything. Shows occur at designated times throughout the day, but do pay attention to the Owls and Vultures as these collections are difficult to find elsewhere in America.

Recommended by our daughter's teacher when she heard we were taking a vacay in Salt Lake City! The birds were well cared for, the exhibits were clean. Restroom facilities are convenient and heated ( just in case you go in the dead of winter like us ). Due to the time of year, there were maybe 7-10 other guests we glimpsed. But that made for a relaxing opportunity to sit & watch. Take it all in. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, providing lots of appropriate info to make the experience memorable! Check it out!!

Loved this! Not to be missed. I can't believe all those years of living in SLC I had never been to the Aviary until now. The gardens and pathways are gorgeous. Plenty of shade, ample seating and lovely collection of birds. I recommend attending their bird show during your visit, it is a great opportunity to see some amazing birds up close. Worth a visit, will be back again.

Loved this experience, a lot of fun and pretty cheap, we walked around looking at all the different types of birds for about two hours so it's a great way to get your steps in. My favorite was the indoor sanctuaries. Definitely something I'd recommend to do with kids.

We are visiting from out of state. My daughter is 8 and loves birds. This place was perfect for her. Her favorite was their rainforest. Beautiful birds and everything is put together very nicely. All animals seems very well cared for.

This old building has been totally and sleekly remodeled with homage to the past that respects the amazing bones of the building. One of my favorite buildings in the city. Perhaps my favorite part of the building is the rough hewn timber columns and joists that serve as the raw skeleton. Plenty of exposed brick walls also abound, and I'm completely charmed by the old spiral slide that used to shuttle manufactured goods from the upper floors all the way down. It's been preserved and gives incredible character to the space for weddings, parties, fundraisers and more. This is all coming from the point of view of an attendee; to date I've never worked with the fine folks behind the building and have only attended events in the space. They host some pretty remarkable events, so I've got to think they're on top of things. When they're not hosting events (and even when they are), the building is home to all kinds of offices from the tech to the more mundane. There's lots of parking on the north side of the building, which empties out rapidly at the end of business hours. The south side of the building is now nearly kissing a new bridge for Trax, so it's best to just turn in from the north and you can find parking further north or east. I always look forward to events at the SL Hardware Building. It's classy but still casual, convenient, and a stellar spot in SLC. Kudos to those who made the expensive decision to spruce it back up and honor the past. Well done!

I arrived early, and took my time strolling through the gardens. I brought my book with me and took advantage of the various seating areas throughout the gardens. It was perfect to sit in the shady (and some sunny) spots. It was quiet and relaxing with a few people here and there. The gardens are so beautifully curated, but at the same time offer opportunities for more rugged/wild expereinces in the natural areas of the park. It has been one of the few arboretums that felt so welcoming, and it truly encouraged you to spend some serious time among the flowers and trees. I also noticed that there were so many people activevly working in the gardens - something I have rarely seen at other similar places (maybe because I was visiting during work hours on a weekday?) The amphiteather on site is host of a variety of concerts - this particular summer concert series looked amazing. Wish I had more time to spend out there. So if I ever do plan an event here (which *ahem* I'd love to do) I'll be sure to fill in the deets from the other side. What I can say is that I really dig this space. Located on one of the most personality-filled streets in the city, it's just crawling with character. I'm unfamiliar with the history of the building, but would love to know the backstory. Now it's a beautiful, long and not so very narrow space with a high ceiling and windows all along the north end. It's not quite an industrial feel--it's nicer than all of that. But it's got a city vibe to it that's just kind of special. They host all kinds of events there. Tonight was a tasting event that showed off a simple decor, a few cocktail tables, a small raised stage, and some nice lighting. I would presume the kitchen facilities were adequate, as there were two chefs there preparing a couple small bites. The staff was great. On top of dish service, all smiles. I stuck around until after the official event hours were over, and it was fun to see the staff whip the place back into tidy shape while making plans for post-event mischief. Classy. I'm going with classy. A classy, unstuffy place to have an event.
