First off - shoutout to Natalia who gave us the best experience possible for our first time visit. When my fiance and I bought these tickets, we had no idea that we would be driving into a mall parking lot... This led us to be so confused with whether we input the right directions. However, on the building of the mall in front of the food court, you see "SeaQuest". Yep - we're in the right place... Once you walk in the mall, you pass the 90s looking food court and head downstairs below the food court to find the entrance of SeaQuest past a small playground for kids. At the register, we were greeted by a kind worker manning the check-in desk, Natalia. She was so amazing! She gave us the low-down on what to expect and even gave us a few extra tokens to use to feed the animals. Honestly, we had the best experience possible because of Natalia. We ended up having the full experience of feeding the otters, hanging out with the cats, and even the porcupine (quillio) and prairie dogs (blossom, bubbles, and buttercup)! Literally, SeaQuest was my major highlight of the trip to Utah! We could not believe the different kinds of animals they had in such a small setting, which of course from an outside perspective, you feel really bad that these animals are "entrapped" or living in such an enclosed space, but it's almost like you can see that the animals might actually enjoy living in there. Lol, probably because they're getting fed majority of the day, but the caretakers seem to be pretty good at spacing out meals for them. When you first walk in, it was almost alarming to the point of feeling like there are a number of safety hazards/concerns for both the animals and patrons. The glass for the aquariums are so low that people can stick their hands in (which is apparently totally ok to do for most aquariums). Some animals like the iguanas are totally hanging almost outside of their open cages for people to pet. You can also just hop into the tortoise's enclosure to say hi. So crazy. There are so many crazy kids running around, so I honestly feel worried about the animals getting hurt and bombarded on the daily, but what I love about this place is its uniqueness and mission to educate the masses. These animals are very well adapted to humans and seem to have very good caretakers, so that part was reassuring. Oh also, the little doctor fish that exfoliate your hands was the coolest! We did the "duo quest" which was $99 for 2 encounters, 20 tokens and admission to the aquarium. The encounters and the person who led them for us was the best part. She was super knowledgeable, kind and generous with her time. Some of the enclosures seem far too small and kinda dirty. It felt kinda like a money grab. There is token slots everywhere you turn to take money for feeding the animals. I can see the interactive aspect, but it would be very expensive for a family to come here if they want to feed multiple animals considering each token is $2. The place was also very hot and had an odd smell. Tight quarters. It was a fun one time experience. read more

I've lived here in the valley for almost 6 years now and until now had no idea that seaquest was even here. So as soon as I learned about it, we went up that following weekend with my 1 year old and 3 year old boys. Despite being located in a mall, it's a pretty sizable location with a lot of different animals on display. It's MUCH smaller than the aquarium in the Draper area, but much more hands on. They have a bunch of different experiences that primarily revolve around feeding the animals. We did the parakeet feeding, and a few others that I can't remember. You can feed the otters, cats, porcupine, fish, and more. It's pretty cool, but I'm kinda torn on how I feel about how they handle it. In order to participate you have to buy tokens and each experience costs different amounts of tokens. I understand why they charge, but I think it's far too expensive in addition to having to buy the admission tickets. I think the cost should be half of what it is, or raise the admission price and just include all of these experiences. Especially considering that feeding the animals is something they would have to do anyway if no one ever came The timing of the experiences was a small point of frustration. Some of the more than pensive ones like the otters you apparently have to book at the front desk. There wasn't any signage, that we saw, that indicates this, and apparently they get sold out for the whole day early on. For the parakeets, they have times listed on the wall. We stood in line for nearly 20 mins past when it was supposed to start For the fish, we would have liked to be able to feed more of them, but nearly all of the dispensers were completely empty. However, included in the admission are the little fish that eat the dead skin off your hands. It sounds really gross, and maybe it is ha, but you get to put your hands in their tank and it's pretty cool. Even my 3 year old participated. Overall this was a cool place to spend the afternoon, whether you participate in the paid activities or not. I would at least suggest getting a couple tokens to do the parakeet feeding as it was the least expensive (I think 1 token per person) and pretty cool. Our toddler loved it. read more

I have really mixed feelings about this place! I got free tickets to go and was still conflicted about whether to use them, but went with 3 other adults on Black Friday. The good: petting and feeding the sting rays! We stayed in this area for the majority of time and it was so fun! The sting rays seemed to love coming up for touches and food, and were surprisingly cute. Feeding some of the other animals was also fun (especially the tortoises). The bad: it's a pretty dirty place, and staff don't seem to be around in great numbers, so there's little monitoring in parts of the exhibits. Some animal enclosures are very small. We wondered how healthy these animals can be in this environment. Upselling is everywhere, and coins are required for most experiences (this is above the cost of admission). Some people were snorkeling in the sting ray tank, which didn't look large enough to accommodate this. More hand wash stations are needed. The confusing: it's SEAquest, but so many animals aren't from the sea...farm animals, tarantulas, other mammals...the list goes on. It seems random and not well thought-out. If I had paid for tickets, I would probably feel ripped off, despite the excellent sting ray experiences. It's also difficult to find (on the bottom floor of the mall). read more

What a fun experience! I've wanted to come check out sea quest for sometime now and finally decided to go when there was a special discount. From now to the end of the year, you can sign up to get in free if you go to their website and type in their promo "CONSERVATION" all caps. Just pick a date and it's good til the end of the year. It does require an email address, which you can create with google, yahoo, etc. I paid an extra fee if $10 to get 5 tokens and an "experience" which I selected the fish pedicure. There's also a "fish manicure" where you stick your hand in and let the fish eat the dead skin off your hands. It's a tickling feeling! I got so excited and spent all of my feeding tokens to the first few animals I saw. I should've saved them for the end especially for the sting rays, which are my personal favorite. I saw some people in the tank snorkeling with them. It's an additional cost, but I didn't attempt to do it. They provide wetsuits and snorkels. Totally worth the drive! I went in a Thursday and there were just a few families there. With this free promo, it may get wild on the weekends. Some people really need to keep their kids closer to them. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this place truly shocked me. It felt like a chaotic version of Tiger King -- completely unregulated and heartbreaking. The animals are clearly not receiving proper care: tanks and enclosures are filthy, far too small, and the smell is overwhelming. Every creature looked distressed. These aren't rescued animals -- they're confined and neglected. I sincerely hope an organization like PETA steps in and this facility is shut down. read more

All the "experiences" accommodate 2-4 people and families of 5-6 are waiting in line for long-late experiences. Don't buy the upgrade, you won't get in anyway. Unfortunately after our most recent visit I had to update this review to 1 star, which is generous. I witnessed one employee pick out 2 teenagers and harass them the entire time they were there. Her excuses was that they were harassing animals. They were 2 teenage boys and were a little loud as teenagers are. She claimed that they were running all over the aquarium, which none us witnessed the entire night. What I did witness was her follow them around for almost 2 hours. Including standing 3 feet away while one of them washed their hands. I also watched 2 teenage boys make a joke about catching a fish, their hands were never in the water. Then her yelling at them for trying to catch the fish. I witnessed her stand and stare at them by the parakeets while they sat on a bench and kids ran between them multiple times, another kids pounded on the kinkajou cage and she said nothing. This truly seemed to be profiling, she even made the comment that she can kick anyone out. I am very sad to see this in a place that our family has frequented for years. They had 2 very nice employees that were trying very hard to make the guest feel welcome. There was a male employee wiring in the area by the pigs who probably should have been in charge from what I saw. We have had passes here every few years since they opened. They change things often. I have been disappointed that you can't interact with any of the animals without buying coins. They used to let you interact with a few of them, but now you can only observe unless you want to pay $2 a token. Most take more than one token. It never feels finished inside and my kids run through the whole thing under 10 minutes because they get bored. Wish they would let you interact with the animals more often or would be more consistent with shows. read more

However if you buy some coins. Even just a few then you will have some truly awesome interaction. This is so fun, and there are a decent amount of touch tanks that anybody can access! We got in through an Earth Day free tickets deal, which was such an incredible opportunity! There's a great path through the aquarium that is a good length for the short stamina of little kids. However, if you do have small kids, walking through may be difficult sometimes because there are things to buy allllllll throughout the museum. In every room, there are additional experiences exclusive to people who pay extra money, like touching or holding certain animals you can't for free. There are also multiple little vending toy machine things/claw machines in every room, so it felt like we were constantly walking through advertisements, and a lot of the experimental stuff was behind an additional paywall on top of the ticket price. read more

Used to love this place until today. We have been visiting this Seaquest location for a few years now and even had annual passes at one point. The staff is typically very friendly and helpful and if you ask nicely they might give you an extra token or two if you just ask. We came here today (11/06/2023) upon my daughters request because she wanted to do an animal interaction on her birthday, we gave her all of the interaction options and she chose the Kinkajou, we've paid for these premium interactions before with the last one being the sloth which she loved, we told her she would have 15-mins to sit in the kinkajou enclosure and actually touch the kinkajou, we told her all of this because that is what was pictured and advertised online and we also purchased and extra interaction for my spouse to sin in with my daughter to help her because she is only 5. When it was finally time for their interaction time today they were lead to the kinkajou enclosure and they were then handed small pieces of fruit from the outside of the enclosure and told they could not enter with the kinkajou and that they could only feed it through this tiny little opening, they both fed the kinkajou from outside of the enclosure for maybe 3-4mins and that was it. That is nothing like what is shown and stated on their website so just be cautious before purchasing a premium animal encounters that it is in fact what they advertise so they don't take your money. Also, why make patrons sign a waiver for the kinkajou if all you are doing is feeding them through a small opening? read more

I got a groupon for Christmas to come, and experience this small aquarium. Who better to come with me other than my 7 year old grandson. Never coming up this way, I put my GPS on and off we went, taking the freeway. My GPS told be to get off at the mall exit, and took us to the mall parking lot. You know how trustworthy GPS is. I thought it strange being directed to the food court to enter the aquarium. There is a sign on the building, but it doesn't have a separate door to go through, you have to go through the food court, and follow the signs on the floor. The signs are like a scavenger hunt. The entrance is actually downstairs next to the Weber State Children's play area. When you first walk in, you are walking right into the gift shop (and on the way out) you are on your own with no one to guide you. It's pretty easy to find your way around there is only one path. What I didn't like is there wasn't anyone to help. No one to guide you, no one to explain what's going on. There were a couple of animal interactions but you have to pay separately. I wish I would have know that before going in. There wasn't anywhere to buy "tokens" to the exhibits that let you actually interact with some of the animals. We drove up from Utah County to see what the hype was about. It was alright. The enclosures looked a bit small for some of the animals, and the birds looked very stressed. Definitely more of an animal exploitation sort of tourist attraction than a conservation effort. Unfortunately many of the aquarium rooms smelled like damp, but I suppose that makes sense because the tanks were open so that the public can buy fish food and throw it in. They do have a lot of animals I had never seen before in person, such as armadillos, axolotl, and toucans. Some of the staff also clearly care about the animals, but overall it was a bit of a disappointment compared to places I have been that take more effort to give their "exhibits" a better life (San Diego Zoo, Oakland Zoo, Monterey Bay Aquarium, etc.) read more

If you go on their website you can reserve times to have interaction with sloths, otters etc. I unfortunately didn't do that, but still had a great time. The staff is really nice. I loved the guy that talks like a pirate at the register in costume. I got to see a whole bunch of different wildlife. I didn't take a lot of pictures. In fact I only took two LOL. I was skeptical at first, being that the aquarium is in a mall....especially when we entered through the food court, followed some floor signs and then got lost when the signs abruptly stopped. We eventually found our way to the entrance (it's on the bottom level) and were in business. You enter through a gift shop, pay admission and then you're allowed access to the self-guided aquarium. Our cashier asked if we were paying with an America First Credit Union card. If so, it was 50% of admission. Cha-ching! We pulled out that card and saved some coin. Once inside, we we were drawn to exhibits where we could touch the animals. There was a large enclosure with iguanas inside. We went in with them and got to pet them! (Just don't pull their tails.) There are lots of fish that you can pet. The stingrays are my favorite. There are also tiny little fish that will nibble on your hands-it doesn't hurt, it actually tickles. There is even a mermaid that you can get your picture taken with! This place is great. We were lucky to come on a Sunday afternoon when it wasn't too busy. I'd imagine that Saturdays are crazy. I've got a lot to say for this one. I absolutely adore aquariums but this one was a bust for me. The variety of fish was nice, but the tanks felt overcrowded and dirty. This is definitely one for the kiddos, hobbyists steer clear if you don't want to be depressed. I had a couple of concerns as well. A majority of the animals were unattended when we went so we saw a bunch of kids running up and grabbing and poking at them, yikes. Also they had Doctor Fish (Red garra, the ones that eat the dead skin off ur hands and feet when you put it in the water). They have this big touch tank (tank is being generous, it was more like a giant sink) with a bunch of them, it's not ideal at all. Be wary, you can risk getting an infection if you have any open wounds. Needless to say my partner and I skipped that section. I truly believe the staff care about the animals, but the care just seemed not to be in Sea Quest's best interest for this attraction, I don't blame this on the staff at all tbh. In my opinion if you're in Utah, spend the extra time/money and just go to Loveland Aquarium or Hogle Zoo. read more

First time coming to Utah I wanted to try out this place because of the reviews but I had some issues with this place. 1. The front desk employee was nice and she explained the rules which were somewhat helpful After we got in we noticed some of the area wasn't clean and a bit dirty. Not many staff around. 2. The parakeets interaction was great to see all of them and feed them. The problem I had was the sign said it started at 5 or 5:30p. The employee arrived late. Almost stepped on a parakeet wing and didn't apologies or acknowledge like what? 3. The food to feed for the animals were empty or the machine took your coin and bam there goes your coins. 4. The parrot area which I wanted to interact but I guess the employee did a short one and left. Also the parrots are molting so please check on them. 5. Overall it was okay but disappointed I didn't get a chance to interact with some animals. Maybe because we arrived late? Whatever the case could be I wish I had a great experience like everyone else. Wow! We were driving to Utah from Idaho and We had some time to kill before heading to the hotel. We were torn between the aquarium and SeaQuest but boy am I glad we went here!!! I brought a 5, 7 and 8 year old and it was perfect for all of them. The exhibits are so interactive. I feel like you couldn't do this in California without signing a million waivers. It's so nice that they allow this and the people know how to act. They fed a turtle, iguana, pig, chicken, fish, birds, sting ray, pet a kitten and more!! All up close and personal. It was crowded but it was a holiday weekend so I hope there aren't normally lines and crowds like that but I guess good for them. Pricey for adults but I guess they have coupons that I missed. When I came with my service dog and my friends who have service dogs we where harassed by a manager. The harassment and discrimination was so bad that we left and got a refund. There have been bigger groups then us and they chose to harass us. One of the things was we where "in the way" when there was another way to go around us and we left space. They won't tell parents with strollers to move but disabled people who have service dogs. All of the dogs where under control with no issues and yet we where targeted with the manager saying "I have to put MY animals away because of YOU guys" So because we have disabilities it's a problem for you? I don't recommend if your disabled and have a service dog. The manager told my mother a "different point of view" then what we experienced because he wanted to save his ass and left out all the harassment and discrimination. There was one worker we talked to a couple days after who apologized and gave us some compensation but still not okay to discriminate and harass disabled people. I really liked them before this but sadly it left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

The aquarium down south is definitely bigger and better...however, I was surprised at how much more I liked it than I thought I would. I'm torn between giving it 3 or 4 stars but for two huge reasons I decided to give it 3: 1. It was quite chaotic; there was a turtle just roaming around the patron areas; that's great and all, but they weren't really watched. Poor animals could've been being mistreated and no one would ever know before it was too late. 2. Way over priced for what you get. This place is only worth it if you buy the Groupon. That's what we did and it was definitely worth it. You get 5 coins included in your Groupon to feed the different animals, which was awesome. The one reason I would give it 4 stars: 1. I love how interactive it is. You get to go in with all the lizards without a coin but if you want to feed them, you give one of your coins. We also fed the stingray and sharks. It was really cool. Overall, it was pretty fun; I'm glad we went once to see what it was all about. But it's only worth it with the Groupon. I just felt like all of the "interactive" animals weren't protected enough. Turtles were just walking around and no one was at the stingray or shark tanks to make sure everyone was touching the animals correctly. This place is so much fun! It's a really fun place to take kids but also a cool spot for adults too. We had so much fun and it is really interactive. You can buy tokens and feed almost every animal. There were a lot of unique animals too. It's not too expensive for a really fun time. We spent a little extra to do the fish pedicure and it was a really exciting experience. I am definitely going to come back and snorkel with the stingrays. It may be a small aquarium in the mall but it will exceed all your expectations! read more

August 10th 2019 I was so excited to get the opportunity to swim with the stingrays! I have loved them my whole life and my husband got me the experience for my birthday! When we arrived the line was long and only one person was working the front desk. When it was finally our turn she was incredibly rude and not helpful at all. It was very unorganized and we almost missed our spot. Besides that we had a wonderful experience. The staff was knowledgeable but not super friendly. I love that you could feed any of the animals(for an additional charge) and they have so many opportunities for you to interact with the animals. I do wish they had a staff member with each animal that people can touch. First off, the employees we did see here were wonderful. So sweet and helpful and truly seemed to enjoy their jobs. However, I was a little horrified by the conditions these animals are living in. Everything smelled and all of the enclosures were dirty and tanks were all filthy. The animals all seemed so stressed. Some had sores and several birds looked greasy and a couple were picking their feathers out from stress. Many of the exhibits had animals you could pet and touch but there were absolutely no employees present to make sure the animals were being handled properly and we saw more than one unattended kid being rough or outright mean to the animals. We got out of there asap and honestly it was just upsetting overall. I would never want to give money to a place that exploits animals like this or lead my kids to think this was ok. read more

Kristi was the best guide for our otter interaction! Dare I say, she was otterly excellent?! I do! We came here for my nieces birthday and she made it extra special by giving her a few extra coins which allowed her to get a stuffed otter from the gift shop to remember the experience (despite it being unforgettable). Kristi was knowledgeable and made the interaction even better with her enthusiasm. We got to make toys to hide food in for the Chip and Dale's enrichment. We also did the sloth interaction which was very cool. Flash, the non binary sloth, was very sweet! They loved being fed butternut squash and hanging upside down. Other than that, the aquarium was splash-tastic! We got to feed a variety of animals and pet albino snakes and hold african grey parrots. Very enjoyable experience from start to finish! read more

I loved this place and how interactive it is for younger children. We had my niece and nephew for a few days and brought them here & they loved it! They had a few cool things going on in the mall like balloon animals, mermaid photos, snake/turtle petting, freebies for dogs and music which was cool. Inside of the aquarium is pretty nice and they have a cool selection of reptiles/sea animals to see! The bird cage was so cool to see as well and my niece and nephews really had a blast feeding the fish and learning cool facts along the way. When buying en, we asked how things work, was told that you buy tokens to interact with critters, and to walk around and enjoy. We walked around the entire exhibit, waited for a 20 minutes late parakeet feeding, had four minutes inside to do the actual activity, and when we asked an attendant to do the otter feeding, was told you had to schedule at front desk, and that was never mentioned. Went to schedule, they said to wait 2 hours. If they had mentioned that in advance, would have done it right away. We had loads of tokens left because we couldn't participate in desired activity, they would not buy tokens back, would not let any of us talk to a manager. Lots of unruly disrespectful kids. First of all, this is not just an aquarium. While there are many beautiful fish displays, there are also other animals to see. As of the time of this review, there are also birds, tortoises, otters, a sloth, coatis, a kinkajou, snakes, frogs, and hundreds of sea creatures. For a smaller aquarium, this place is really amazing!! I think it is a fun place for any age: We take our kids there (12 and 14 years old) and they love it every time; I also have taken my parents there (in their late 70s) and they also loved it. I see families with really little kids who obviously are having a great time, too! I think the thing that sets this aquarium apart are the numerous opportunities to interact with the animals. There are food dispensers (for an additional cost) at many of the displays. This means that the animals are also interested in YOU. They get so many treats from theirs guests, they will come see you in hopes of receiving treats (even if you don't have any). In my opinion, feeding the animals is the best part of being at Seaquest. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. Sometimes a staff member will be sweeping the floor nearby, and if they see you looking at an animal for a while, they tend to come over to you and tell you interesting facts about the little critter. Speaking of sweeping the floor, it is very clean at Seaquest. The animal enclosures appear to be very well maintained, as well as the people path through the aquarium.
