Tracy is a city I always pass by when I'm going to the South Bay Area from Sacramento or on my way…read morehome. I didn't usually pay much attention to Tracy many years ago. But they're started catching my attention in recent years. The City of Tracy is quietly building up more and more new buildings on both sides of the freeway near I-205. It has many more businesses opened up in Tracy, and lots more people moved to the area. On the other hand, Tracy still gives me the other side of the county and small village feels. They have many almond farms with hundreds or thousands of almond trees everywhere. The flowers are so beautiful in late February and March. The City of Tracy is still in the process of moving more closely with all its neighboring cities in the Bay Area. They built many new shopping centers in the city. Some are pretty good! Some failed. But shopping malls failed and are becoming the new normal after the pandemic now! I hope the City of Tracy will non-stop improving but still be able to keep their county feels.

I just attended the City of Tracy shredding event to help my parents out with years of old papers,…read moresensitive documents, etc. When we got there, there were several cars in front of us. We got into the line at 12:52pm and the event was until 1pm. 4 cars arrived after us and were also in line. Once we got closer to the trucks, there was an elderly woman who seemed to be taking down people's information. She consulted with another older gentleman and told us it was 1pm, the bins were full so they could no longer accept us. I informed her that we were in the line before 1pm. She just said I'm sorry we can't take you. She was polite enough, but I am disappointed with the city. They turned away the cars after us as well. If you have a hard cutoff of 1pm then you need to CLEARLY state that on the website. It just says 9-1pm so presumably arriving in the line to shred by 1pm would be sufficient. They should have accepted the cars who were in line by 1pm and then put up a roadblock sign announcing that the event is over/closed. Also, the bins are not magically full at exactly 1:00pm. If you have a cutoff time, that's fine but don't tell me at 12:59 the bins aren't full but are at 1:00pm. I will look elsewhere to take care of my document shredding needs and will not recommend people to come to the City of Tracy event unless they arrive early in the morning. I don't blame the workers but I am unhappy with the service as we had arrived by 1pm - the stated time - and I may sound entitled, but how many cars, etc. are in line is not my problem. If I have arrived to the venue by the stated time, I expect to receive the service I am there for.

This review was long overdue. I have to admit one thing though, every one in this department…read moreweather they are permanent here or just put in for temporary are all amazing. I am proud to say that there are real life heroes living in this building. I don't know where to start but many times I have been helped by these heroes over the years. But to keep this review short I would say some of the recent incidents. I usually walk my four dogs on 11th street and sometimes I pass their station as well. One day as I am passing Mr. car wash, a husky who had no one with him saw us and started coming towards us. I was not ready for a dog fight so immediately I turned back and ran to this fire station and told two heroes the situation. With great friendliness two of them left to see the dog. It turned out to be Jules veterinary dog got loose and these two heroes dropped off the dog in Jules and came back. Then one day while I was passing their building my shepherd without any warning walked on their grass and vomited a truck load of vomit. I mean these are large dogs so you can imagine. I was very humiliated but still stopped and asked for a huge bag so I can pick up the vomit. But the hero who opened the door with a friendly smile said don't worry I will get it later. I insisted saying my poop bag isn't big enough, but he said he got it with a smile. Then on March 25th/2021 when I was walking my four dogs something popped in the back of my knee. I blacked out and fell down with excruciating pain. I couldn't move or get up. So I called 911 and three heroes from this building came. My dogs knew I am in pain so started barking at them to protect me. One of the heroes knew exactly what to do with the dogs and instantly calmed them down and went above and beyond to make sure we were fully helped. I can never forget their help until death because my dogs are my life and these heroes treated them so very precious. It's as though service is imprinted on these heroes. Thanks to our Tracy real life heroes:);)

I wish there was an option to give zero stars, but there isn't, so one it is…read more.... This review relates to my most recent issue, but, over the years, there's been many, many more. 9 out of 10 times, when we go on vacation and request a vacation hold, we end up having to go to this desolate outpost of humanity and line up like folks at a soup kitchen to be greeted by a sour face and slow service as they have failed, yet again to deliver the accumulated mail.....This time was no exception... I checked the mailbox on 12/31/25 only to find a "we need a signature" form in there along with my regular mail, we had been out, so not an issue. Came home, fired up the old PC and made my way to the appropriate section of the USPS website to arrange re-delivery....When complete, I received a lovely automated reply with a conformation number and tracking number along with a delivery date of 1/2/26....so we wait..... All day Friday I sat here....waiting patiently...gradually getting more annoyed...still no delivery...I checked our doorbell was working....it was....I even put a note on the door saying, please knock if you don't hear bell (It's loud....and we have dogs too)...Needless to say....6pm came and went....No delivery....and the USPS customer service department is now closed. Saturday 1/2/26 I call the customer service folks, they are VERY pleasant and helpful, I went through the whole story and she assures me someone will call me. So I wait......a couple of hours pass and lo and behold, and actual call from the Annex!! She tells me it's there and they were going to retry the delivery Monday as they hadn't heard anything....I told her I would come get it..... I jump in the car and make my way across town, line up along with the other unfortunate souls and get my mail finally. She tells me...I think we got cut off when i called...I told her.....no, I hung up. Then I left. Zero stars......would not recommend.....
