Paid $60 for initial smog, he advised to come back after i figured out check engine light and it would be done at no charge. Had it fixed by tracy chevy, brought the truck back two weeks later and was charged $70 for it to pass smog. Explained to him i had just brought it to him and he literally told me itd be free if it passed second time. Poor communication, wont be returning. read more

Vinh lacks initiative and poor communication. Brought in my low mileage Chevy for its very first smog check. It failed because the ODBII monitors were not ready then. I forgot that I had only driven the vehicle 30 miles since I replaced the battery but I still paid for the test. I drove another 125 miles and brought it back for a re-test a week later. All smog test centers has the ability to check the status of all monitors prior to doing a re-test but in this case HE DID NOT CHECK. Instead he ran the re-test, found that the Evap and O2 monitor were still not ready (others passed), and just demanded payment. So I drove around town and consulted another smog test center. They checked the status of the monitors free of charge if the ODBII monitors were not ready. Fortunately, the monitors were ready so they went ahead with the inspection and it passed. This new place also has competitive pricing, AND has much nicer staff who are capable of explaining things, cleaner facility and more parking space. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME..I called to inquire if it was a good time to stop by for a smog check . He was very short on the phone but I decided to go anyway. I walk in and there's a mat on the floor that says wipe your feet here. I look around no one is there to greet me. There's a customer nervously waiting . I still wait I don't sit down because the waiting area is filthy dirty and unwelcoming. I start looking around still no help. On the phone he said it would take 15 minutes . It did not register to me that the mat to wipe your feet on had N. Pelosi, K. Harris and J. Biden's face on it. I thought this was extremely unprofessional everyone has different political views So why risk insulting some of your customers. . Hate is unacceptable to me and I work hard for my $$$ and he wasn't getting it. I walked out and he was blocking my car with a customer's truck, I said I'm leaving ! I walk in for a smog check. Car, in proper condition. I am told , will be charged 38$. The car goes in for inspection. I am told the fuel lid test is failing and i am sold a 20$ gas cap where in outside it costs 11$. I come out of the store and after a day or 2 the check engine light comes on on the EVAP code. Today 6/24/2021 I went to Tracy Smogtech seeing it was a small shop, and with walking distance to my home, in case I had to leave the car there. The owner is a people person. Let me say that I usually go to another smog shop across town, though due to that local shop employee didn't seem to be happy the last time went there. Along with there is always a wait, even when you make an appointment (1-1/2 hour or more) there is still a wait. This morning I arrived early to Tracy Smogtech before opening, I was greeted with a friendly smile. I presented my online coupon for $29.75 which the owner accepted. I inquired about the coupon stating "cash price" and he was upfront to inform me that the credit card company would charge a fee, though the price of $29.75 plus the credit fee would be added. Now considering the smog check price, plus the $8.25 for the certificate is a bargain when it comes to getting your vehicle smog. I did read the reviews and did see the negative posting, but it seem that those were customers trying to get a answer that was not possible, meaning repairs had to be done prior to getting their vehicle to pass. In my situation, I was not aware of procedures when working on my vehicle. I had disconnected the battery, which erased the data. In the old days this was not a issue. He informed me of the battery being disconnected, cause the vehicle not to pass. He was honest, informed me what I needed to do, which was to drive it for at least Sixty miles. Well soon as I left the shop, I was on a journey driving east of Tracy, then back up to Livermore, then Westley and after I return to the Smog shop where the owner immediately, said "let me check it" which I thought was very responsible and this shop knows how to treat a customer... I asked when I went in if he took coupons he said no I said is this your coupon then he said yes. My car failed I got what was needed he said I didn't do all the stuff and sent me to the mechanic right next to him. I was told it would be 150.00 and that would be just to check for the leak and it might be more if I wanted it fixed. He flagged my car for an error on my car he could of simply told me to fix and come back but instead he put it in the system my car had an issue and now I'm having trouble smogging it else where after the repair was done.
