From the other reviews, looks like he is known to make false accusations constantly. We forgot to buy bread and were going back in and he didn't allow us. I come here regularly for the deli. This location has the best and most frequent sales on Boars Head deli meats and cheeses. There is always one Hispanic male behind the counter that is very friendly, calls you honey and always has a smile (extra star for his great customer service). The other guy isn't friendly at all but I'm not coming to make friends so this doesn't affect my view of this place besides the other guy makes up for everyone else's indifferent customer service here. The deli is always clean and my meats are always fresh. I do frequent the Metropolitan location but this one has better deli deals. I also come here whenever I need some sort of Spanish food item (Colombian, Mexican, both central and South American) that you can't find all in one place elsewhere. Like Colombian chorizo, Colombian arepas and cheese, dried Chile's and corn husks for Mexican tamales, tortillas. They also have a large selection of beer. And items that are difficult to find some places like pita pockets (not pita bread) and wraps. I have a difficult time staying away from the fresh baked breads here. It all smells so good. And once in a while I get the homemade soups or meals because it's tastier and cheaper than going to a Dominican restaurant to grab lunch. They have a large selection of produce that is cheaper than big grocery stores but pricier than fruit stands. So I usually look and choose wisely. It is cramped and there isn't anyone around that will help you find something you you really just have to search on your own but the prices here are cheaper than bigger name grocery stores for sure. read more

Hey what's up with the overloaded fresh produce section, they corridors are stacked with food everywhere. It seems that the vegetable section might come down because of overweight, they have tried to utilize every inch of space.But optimum space utilization does not look nice. I agree they have a wide variety food and cover almost all ethnic foods(India,Mexican,Middle eastern etc). But a big shock is they forget to check the expiry date of the goods, a number of things are lying in the store with expired dates. Why the hell they have a cat in store, I am not against animals but there is open food out there.Now coming to the people behind cash registers, there is no sense of gratitude(No greeting). As a customer facing representative one should greet the customer but not at Trade fair. Definately one can miss this store, the only plus point is that they are open 24 hours. read more

This is the worst grocery store I've ever been to. I didn't see that it had only 2 stars on Yelp, otherwise I would never have come here. I bought a jug of Trade Fair branded milk on 7/31/2019 that had the expiration day of 8/11, on 8/7 it was already spoiled and tasted sour. On 8/8, I brought the jug and the receipt there to ask for a replacement, and the cashier argued with a sentence printed on the receipt like below. I suppose if something has a 2-week expiration period and it is spoiled 2 days after, you cannot return or replace it, which is insane. This Trade Fair location is NOT practicing social distancing 6ft. There is a line to wait outside, but a longer line inside waiting to pay. Everybody on the line inside the supermarket are not 6ft apart. This supermarket is violating the law during these times. We spoke to 2 managers whose response was nasty and rude attitude when addressing the issue. Both managers are Latinos in the front section where the cashiers are. Some of the cashiers do not have gloves or a mask for protection. The guy in the front let's customer inside 6-7 at a time, but does not go and check to see if the line inside is not crowded. I usually don't shop at Trade Fair Supermarket after male manager ACCUSE ME OF STEALING Cheese when I was looking for specific organic cheese, but they didn't had it, so I put it back, but when I was about to leave store, he harassed me and check my Whole Food Bag without permission! This was when store was still 24-hour. Few months later and I was not aware this store wasn't 24-hour anymore and this store employee aren't friendly. I was planning to do shopping, but employee refused to come up and tell me this not 24-hour anymore. I was upset. I gave this store 2 stars because 1) I like their produce section, they are usually cheaper than MET Foods and they always have good looking spinach that lasts for a while and 2) they are open 24hr. I only come to this store when I get home too late to go to MET Foods or if they are having a good sale on something.... But 1) The customer service is horrific and I truly mean that. No on ever greets you, they speak their language to each other, while the cashier is staring and smiling at me. Um ok. Being in there always makes me feel uncomfortable. The only people that are nice and friendly to me are the security, because I smile and always say hi to them and the guy that ALWAYS works the overnight shift is friendly. 2) The cat. I once saw it walking on packaged meat. That MUST be a violation 3) It is very cramped and damn near impossible to get a single roll of toilet paper without having them all crash down on you. I think the fact that I feel uncomfortable in that store is why I give it so few stars. It's very odd to have this feeling in a store. I wish there was a fairway or a trader joes or a whole foods, those stores pride themselves on good customer service. I feel like if you are not Indian in this store, they are not nice to you. I wish I could rate lower. The customer service is horrible. The food isn't fresh. Customer Service: their price isn't always as you think it is. Sometimes, the price tag isn't even up. The "sales" are either missplaced or expired and they don't honor it for misleading other people. Their response is "do you want this or not?" (This is not even the little workers speaking; it's one of the managers too) Their 24 hours is no longer 24 hours, yet their banner says 24 hours! SO MISLEADING. There should be some sort of replace management. Their ice cream takes forever to thaw. Their dairy section isn't as cold. Their fruits and vegetable are iced?! Some of their shelf food started collecting dust. To be honest, Trade fair is much closer to home, but I would go around the block to Associated Supermarket just because their food ( SAME THING/SAME PRICE ) is more fresh, or do my shopping on my way home from the train station. I come here all the time because it's close to my house. I mainly buy beer here, and i'm happy that they have increased their selection of microbrews, but repeatedly i see a sticker price on the shelf for a six pack, and then in the checkout the price is 2-3 dollars more. If i notice it during checkout, they will of course honor the sticker price on the shelf, but many times i don't notice it and i realize when i get home that i've paid much more. They don't update their prices on the shelf so.... shopper beware. I have had this happen here for years and i'm always mad at myself when i get home for not checking while i went through the checkout. All of the posted beer prices are usually wrong. read more

Oh, Trade Fair. You're sketchy, but still cool. This is a solid supermarket for the nabe. Like all the markets in the area, it's far from perfect. The produce here is sub par. Period. Prices, on the other hand are better than average. You can find most everything cheaper here than their main competetitors - Food Bazaar, etc. Those dimes and quarters sure add up so Trade Fair is a good friend of my family. It used to be horrendously cramped but it's loads better since they expanded. They have decent ethnic food offerings. Indian and Mediterranean as well as the mandatory (for this hood) enormous array of Hispanic offerings. Be really careful when buying packaged goods here. I mean you MUST check dates, people. I have seen expired goods on the shelves on various occasions. But I've also seen that pretty much everywhere else as well - even at fancy markets. So it doesn't bother me that much. I live right across the street from this store and it is convenient. I know almost every employee in the store and, without exception, they always greet me a smile and they use my name, Tom. However, the night manager, [name to be supplied] is, without a doubt, the showcase of incompetence. Not only does he treat the employees like trash, he is rude and discourteous and disrespectful to customers. He is not the kind of manager you want after Trade Fair has suffered through some recent, difficult times. So, we would expect that something will be done to make shopping at TF a good experience. If not, you will lose not one, but at least sixteen (16), yes that's right, sixteen (16) other customers who live in my building and right next door. Supermarket is ok. It can get really crammed sometimes between the aisles because they are always stacking the shelves and there are boxes everywhere so it can be really annoying. They don't have an organic section for meat, poultry or other. It would be nice to have some organic grass fed beef over there. Most of the time you will ended up going to Ctown which have a nice shelf of organic meat and poultry or Downtown Market where you can get a lot of organic product. Like the fact it's open 24 hours so you can just jump in if you forgot your milk or your eggs for breakfast.! read more

I have been going to this supermarket for over three years. I like the improvements made in the store, but buyer beware. The prices are constantly wrong, especially when items are on sale. If you don't check your receipt, you're probably getting ripped off. Last night I stopped in after work. I spent over 70 dollars, when I noticed the Perdue chicken cutlets that were on sale 2/$7 were rung up at 4.99 each. The owner, as usual, begrudgingly checked the sale paper, and the young man who was ringing up the groceries manually rung up $7, instead of scanning the packages again, and then voided out the other charge. I went home and started unpacking the groceries and checking my receipt, and realized tbat there was a charge for $4.79 for meat, which wasn't any one of the items I purchased. Mind you, by this time its about 930pm, so I figured I'd go back tonight after work with my receipt to let them know of this (new) discrepancy. Well, it was a waste of time. The owner walked over and pretty much said too bad. The funny thing was, that the cashier I went to tonight, looked at the receipt and said that the $4.79 charge was manually entered, that it wasn't a scanned item. I was actually buying a few more things tonight, but when the guy basically called me a liar (pretty much) I just left the groceries there on the counter. The cashier even agreed with me. Had this not been the umpteenth time having to go back to the store to tell them they overcharged on something, or items showing one price on the shelf and ringing up another price at the register, and looking at the owner's sour face when you make him aware that hes pulling the bait and switch (again), I wouldn't be posting a review. This supermarket is so convenient that either my son or I will go there 4 or 5 times a week. The worst part is that this guy thinks he's doing us a favor, not realizing that without customers, there is no business. As convenient as it is, I'm no longer going to shop here. If this was once or twice, ok. This is just too much. But this is me excercising my rights as a consumer. For those who continue their patronage, just make sure to check your receipts. Time and time again I say that I will never go back---and still stop in as it's close to home. They are the rudest persons on the planet. Even if you have a current circular with the price, with the correct size package, etc, etc--they will stand and argue with you and tell you-" you are wrong." I never use coupons--but had one from a manufacturer--it was $2.00 off---they refused to take it--"we don't take $2.00 coupons..."they all but yell at you. If the price comes up incorrectly on the register---they still argue....you get the pattern here. Basically--you walk in and just want to be treated like a valued customer and all of a sudden you are arguing with a rude manager,,,,oh, yes and this, of course, occurs with a line of people so now add embarrassment to your already unpleasant encounter. Who needs that? All day I work in a job where every complaint and dissatisfaction is taken seriously----so stupid that I ever think that kind of experience would be mirrored in this hell hole of a store. I purchase a small glass container of curry powder, the tag price was $1.99 but when they scan at the register they charge me $7.59 when I check the receipt I found out that they had overcharge me. This is not the first time that happens, some item don't even have tag prices and I have bought Items that they had expired or were stale. I wonder who regulates this type of businesses because they are really stealing money out of the customers pocket, so please before you leave that supermarket make sure you check your receipt. read more

Acouple of years ago I went to the one in Metropolitan ave and I had an issue with the meat department when they sold me old meat. But the Store Manager in charge which his name was Julio. He treated me like a a friend, better than a customer. Then he got moved to the one in 8902 37th ave, Jackson Height. When I found out, i started going to that store which is smaller and without parking, but by knowing that I didnt care, Because Julio made it worth to go there. When he was present everyone was helpful and nice, the store was clean and organized. It didnt look like a Tradefair, it look like a high class store. After a few months of happiness, one day i'm with my mom at the store and it was a mess, all dirty, boxes on the floor everywhere. When i got to the line to pay there was a tall guy making sex jokes about the cashiers and i asked the cashier for the manager in charge and she said that the guy making the jokes was the manager. He came to see me and he said his name was Ramon the Pimp and manager of the store. I asked him for Julio and he told me that he moved to FL. I told Ramon that i was not coming back to that store, because he was nasty and the store was discusting. He told me to get out and not come back, that they didn't need my money.
