I can't really say enough good things about Trader Joes. It's kind've like a poor mans (or a value minded mans) Whole Foods. They sell mostly organic produce, a huge selection of very healthy breads and carbohydrates, a very good selection of wine, and delicious reasonably priced coffee. The Charles Shaw (aka "Three Buck Chuck") has one numerous reviews online, and is inexpensive at $3/bottle. If you like Shiraz, I would specifically recommend trying Trader Joe's Charles Shaw Shiraz. read more

Fantastic service and products! The attentive staff always seem so cheery and sincere! Somehow everything seems stocked perfectly. I'm always inspired by their great options for cooking ingredients as well as prepared foods. Every time I go I find something new to try-- most recently their fantastic, herb pizza dough! Went here on a whim just to check it out on a Sunday. The small parking lot was a hassle to maneuver through. Too many places to go into for the small sized lot. The store was quite busy and it was difficult staying out of people's way and having other shoppers in the way of products we wanted to look at. We purchased a bag of Trader Joes kettle chips in the turkey and stuffing flavor. Sounded like a good seasonal product to try. Well it was a waste of money. If I was blindfolded I would have thought they were regular flavor. I let my husband try them and without any prompting, he had a puzzled look on his face and said he couldn't taste any flavoring. So disappointing. You'd think there would be SOME flavor but no. Thumbs down. All in all they have some products you can't find in the usual grocery stores so it's interesting to browse around. Their dill pickle popcorn alone is enough to give them 5 stars. After my trip to Cali I made the short drive here to grab the dark chocolate peanut butter cups a winery served along with one of their dessert wines. I ended up doing my weekly shopping here which is something I've never done. Although the store is fairly small they have a good selection of fresh and frozen foods. HAVE YOU SEEN THE WINE SELECTION TOO? Fantastico. I was surprised I was able to fill my cart for the week here as I usually stick to the much larger Kroger. Cashiers here are very nice and I usually don't have a problem with parking. Maybe I'll do my shopping here next week too! read more

Warning: I bought some of the dried Turkish figs and found a couple of them had little spider nests inside and another was very sour almost like it was fermenting or just rotten. What!!?? Somebody gave this place one star!!?? Listen up people, this is a great place to shop. I'm not a vegan, vegetarian or pescatarian. I don't have a rainbow or coexist bumper sticker. I don't have dreadlocks, tattoos or hemp clothes. Heck, I've even been known to vote Republican and go to church. But, I still love this place! This is a bit like Whole Foods but you don't have to bring your money in a wheelbarrow and wear a shirt with a peace sign. I particularly like the variety of imported frozen entrees that make lunch so much more interesting than a sandwich. They have fresh produce - though not much variety - and good bread. They have a decent cheese selection, very good wine and beer selection, and a lot of interesting, healthy snack foods. I don't shop here as often as I'd like, and I keep my head down so the liberals don't all see me and run away shrieking with disgust or fear, but so far I haven't actually experienced anything but a lot of very friendly people who also seem to like shopping here. So, hey, all is well. Please shop here, you really won't regret it. And, don't worry about the occasional conservative who might be walking around with their head down, they're just really enjoying the good food and great prices but probably don't want to make a scene. read more

I have to say, this has been my favorite place to shop for years. Coming from southern California and Portland, OR, I grew up shopping at Trader Joe's. I sorely missed TJs once I moved to upstate NY, but was thrilled once we moved here to AA to discover there was, albeit small, TJs just up the road from where we live. Their two-buck Chuck is actually $3 (something about having to sell it and re-purchase it once it comes into the state) and if you are doing a serious shop it's better to go early because they tend not to re-stock things once they are gone for the day (the 96% lean ground sirloin and all natural chicken are popular). Great staple foods and very reasonable prices. Bonnie P. is right--their produce section looks small, but really has some great variety. Fantastic frozen fish (try the seasoned tuna--yum). read more

The nicest employees ever. I just went through the check out line and Gabriel was great! I had already checked my dozen eggs, but he noticed a cracked one that I did not see. There were employees standing nearby and they immediately got me a different dozen. Never a bad interaction with any of the employees, ever. Whatever they're drinking, smoking or doing needs to be spread world wide! I love the premade salads and garlic dips. I would go there just to buy the garlic dip it is so good. read more

One cashier in particular is EXTREMELY slow as is and comments on every product you're buying, the t shirt youre wearing and usually has a story that isn't even relevant. Until recently we lived across town and rarely, if ever visited this store. Now we live right behind the building and realize this was our loss. From my bank statement I can tell we are making up for lost time. Trader Joe's (unlike it's sister store Aldi on the other side of town that offers only really inexpensive staples) offers specialty and some basic products. These are, for the most part, not brands you will find in your local supermarket but are very good. Three key things I like about this store are: 1. the food is taste tested before it is allowed on their shelves meaning people actually like it. They will also offer to let you taste anything they can right in the store. 2. Their money back guarantee. This sounds too good to be true but I have used it a couple of times with zero grief. They say if you don't like a product for whatever reason you just tell them on your next visit and they will pay for it. Note--in my experience I didn't take the product back nor did I have the receipt and they simply returned my money. This is very bold and definitely helps to build a customer base. 3. They focus on local items and much of the product is very good. Occasionally the staff is a bit grumpy but mostly they have been very pleasant for my family and I. The prepared foods are the best with some very good indian and chinese dishes available. The ice cream sandwiches are amazing. The only product I've been unhappy with are sweet sesame tortillas and a guaranteed tender steak that wasn't. Neither did I pay for in the end so I'm very happy. Overall some items are priced very low but some are pretty high so it's good to keep your eyes open. We feel it balances out in the end so this is where we shop. The only other concern is that we are late night shoppers and they close relatively early. read more

I love this place for the delicious frozen foods (especially the indian cuisine), the fruits, the inexpensive but very delicious yogurts and mochi, the complimentary coffee and food samples in the back, and last but not least, their inexpensive wine selection. The staff people are friendly and try to be helpful, the meat selection is not that great, their hot dog and hamburger buns have no HFCS and their tuscany bread is good. I prefer their frozen naan but they have a few different types of fresh naan too. Their fresh baked goods are okay but I love the chocolate souffle which comes in their individual ceramic cups and you just have to bake them and voila, you have fancy dessert! Its so easy! I need to try more appetizer like foods but their dumplings and veggie tempura are pretty good. read more

I really do enjoy shopping at Trader Joe's. The store is very clean and well kept. I generally don't buy too much from their produce, as I think at times its a bit over priced, however, everything is generally reasonably priced or a bargain. Be prepared for the hipsters though, it doesn't matter what TJs I've been to, there are always a group of hipsters. If you can handle them, then make your way over to the frozen food section, they have some seriously good eats there. The frozen berries are the cheapest I've seen in AA and their coffee is always great. Bring your own bag and you're entered into a raffle. read more

I like that I can get great grocery products at a decent price without having to walk by miles of sweatshop apparel, a gardening section, tires, etc. The store is a sane size, and staffed with knowledgeable and kind people. TJ's is so bandwagon now, but as a busy student with vegetarian tendencies I can't help but adore it. You're greeted by a display of cheery, seasonal bouquets of fresh flowers available for purchase, and beckoned by a sample bar at the back of the store with a food selection, juice, and coffee. Some of the things Trader Joe's offers: frozen bagged dinners that are cheap, healthy, flavorful, and easy to prepare; many varieties of fruits and veggies housed in a deceptively tiny produce section; kosher and fake meat; wines ranging in price from two buck Chuck to $30-$40 bottles. It's always too crowded but the employees are effusive and I rarely get impatient. I do wish they had diet Coke - I'd never have to shop anywhere else. read more

The closest Trader Joes to where I live in Ohio is here in Ann Arbor, more than 40 minutes away. In my opinion, it's well worth the drive. Hubby and I have been dying for a little taste of California since we moved here, and Trader Joes gives us a nostalgic taste of home. We got there on a Sunday and it was packed beyond belief. Parking may be an issue during busy times. All of the registers were open and cashiers were pumping customers out of the store. Like all Trader Joes, the aisles can be quite small, especially during a rush; so I was wielding my cart with utter dexterity trying to avoid hitting reusable-bag-carrying-hippies. Everything is well stocked and the staff is super friendly. My favorite product? Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap! read more

I loved this trader joes until my favorite tortillas had mold growing on them when I got them home. They must have had a bad batch. I know I could take them back but instead I threw them away because they were moldy! Still waiting to hear back from customer service about a credit or something. What really sets this trader joes apart from other trader joes is their customer service. anytime a worker walks by me they always ask if I need anything instead of trying to zoom past without being asked any questions. They're on the physically small side, leading to long lines by the cashiers and in the parking lot, but it's no surprise that they're always busy--they have great food and great prices. I went to Trader Joe's the other day not because I really needed anything but just because I like their products and for the most part I like their prices. I ended up walking out after spending around 30 bucks on a few things I have bought before (parmesan/garlic baguette, smashed bananas) and a few things I'd never bought before.(kung pao noodles) I like trying new things and I wasn't disappointed. An interesting place to be sure and I always find something I like there. I guess the only draw back to the place is the odd parking lot (mentioned before by others) but its the hand they've been dealt at that location. The prices are right here. They have great all natural, organic, food. The food you find here aren't always the usual stuff you find everywhere. The workers are helpful. they ring a bell if you bring your own bag lol. The lines are never long and the cheese is worth coming to this place alone. The people who work here are quite nice--can't say that about Tjoes in California though. They are true to their word about allowing you to return stuff if you don't like things. Plus, they give out (laundry) quarters for those of us who can't make it to the bank and don't begrudge me for it! Makes me a loyal customer all the more! Just a warning, drivers/pedestrians turn crazy and mean in the parking lot during weekend afternoons, particularly on Sundays. I love going to trader joes. Their Mediterranean hummus and great wine are more than enough to entice me make the trek over from West Ann Arbor. I can't say enough good things about the reserve and grand reserve wines at Trader Joes. Every bottle I have had has the quality of a bottle twice or three times it's actual cost. The reserve wines go for 9.99 and the grand reserves go for 12.99. The coastal and petit reserve seem to be a little more hit or miss than the others. Truly a hidden gem! Love Trader Joe's. I've been going to this store my whole life and when I moved to Michigan I was bit peeved that the closest Trader Joe's was a bit over an hour away. I still make it a point to come here as often as I can. I always buy about 20-30 of their roasted seaweed as it's $1 here instead of 1.50 or more anywhere else. That plus all the other things that make Trader Joe's awesome has me driving here about once a month to get the things I can't get anywhere else. read more
