TJ's is by far my fave food market in my hood. The prices are inexpensive and competitive. I always buy the TJ's vanilla almond and ginger almond granola for $2.79 a 1 Lb box. Their Pumpkin granola available during the holidays is to die for. The tomatoes, avocado, and peppers, and berries are also a must buy. The fair trade dark chocolate is only $1.99 for 3.5 oz. It's the next best to Valrhona's fine chocolate, $2.99 for 3.5 oz, which is cheap compared to market prices. The only food this store lacks is an auto grinder for almond/peanut butter. I find this to be a great product at Whole Foods. The parking in this establishment is tight especially on the weekends. I always go on Friday nights around 8 PM when I find it to be easiest to park with limited people on line. The staff and cashiers are very friendly and knowledgeable. read more

In canada, we dont have Trader Joe's. There is something about trader Joe's which makes me want to stop by it everytime I come to the states. The quality overall is great for it's lower price. And it seems that every time I go into a trader Joe's I am assisted by wonderful and friendly staff members who recommend good products. I love buying my groceries here. The prices are right, they always have what I'm looking for and there's a very specific list of things I always come back for. Spinach and Kale Guilt Free Yogurt Dip Vanilla Greek Yogurt Shortbread Mint Chocolate Stars Broccoli Slaw Chicken Sausage (that is priced the same and reasonable every time I go) Low Sodium Stock Quinoa & Black Bean Chips (OMG THESE ARE AMAZING) They also have a great flower selection, right when you walk in that makes you want to buy ALL of them. The prices are always the same, no sales, no "advantage cards", no gas savings or free cookware so all the prices in the store are jacked up to accommodate. I receive the flyer in the mail, which usually entices me to buy some new things off my normal list. I'm usually in and out in less than 20 minutes. Yeah, the parking sucks really bad. I'm always feeling super lucky when I get out of there unscathed. It's worth it though to me. One really weird lame thing that I hate is I always grab a basket, and it's the basket below it is stuck to the bottom. This happens ALL the time. This store is very conscientious of people's safety. They limit the number of shoppers in at once, but the line waiting to get in goes fast! They sanitize the carts after each use & give customers hand sanitizer before you go into the store. Their staff do this with such a pleasant attitude!No waiting on line to check out!!!! I go out of my way to shop at this market. Great produce, always has samples of something yummy to try. It's not a grocery store with 5 different brands of a product, but it usually has everything I need. Extremely friendly employees, you can tell they like their jobs. I strongly recommend their pumpkin Greek yogurt and their reduced guilt guacamole - I always restock when I go! Sunday shopper? Big fan, I really wish they would make a bigger Trader Joes and one closer to my house. I love all the food and the prices are very good. Much better than the chopper! Plus all the organic and non chemical offerings are great. Yes the parking there is horrible, but thats because they are so popular and bought a building without a big lot, Oh well, I still always can get a spot. First off, you get what you pay for. I feel the meat is a much higher quality and I never had it go bad the next day unlike other grocery stores meat (especially chicken!!) I like the variety of frozen veggies, meals, and snacks! They have plenty of samples. Produce is always fresh and beautifully displayed. Cashiers are quick and unload your cart and neatly package everything in brown bags and if you bring your own they do a great job packing them too. Parking can get crazy. Saturday morning when they first open up is ideal. Love TJ's! read more

Seeing as my very livelihood depends on this grocery store, I'd better give them at least 4 stars. The produce boasts variety and freshness if you make it to TJs before 7pm. Once it hits evening time, the lone bag of broccoli and the handful of bruised apples are a sad, sad scene. So to clarify, I give 4 stars BEFORE 7pm. Some highlights: bananas in their prime, spongy (and not saggy) eggplant, large yellow and red onions, crisp bartlett and bosc pears, cage free eggs, yogurt, soy milk cream, free coffee samples, frozen artichoke hearts, individually packed seaweed snacks, fresh cut flowers, and potted cacti. I most recently discovered their baguettes. The olive bread baguette does not have the expected outer crispiness of the french baguette, but fear not, its chewy texture holds its own. With slivers of butter, the saltiness of the olives, aromaticity of the butter, and moistness of the bread make for a delicious combination. The meat section includes chicken, turkey, and beef (no pork). I find that most Americans love chicken breasts and hardly miss other cuts of meat, so perhaps the selection is fine as is. Seafood is limited to salmon and tilapia. I personally find the meat and seafood section to be lackluster given the rest of the store, but the staples are there. There are frozen packages of various cuisines, all TJ branded, from tamales to bibimbap to chicken tikka masala to pancakes. Other TJ products include pies, cereals, chips, cookies, and ice cream. I've sample these products from time to time but haven't been devoted to any one particular thing. The price is right. TJs serves organic foods but doesn't necessarily prioritize purchasing locally. Yes, the atrocious traffic (inside AND outside) of TJs is real. Having been to at least 5 TJs in California and 1 in NYC, I will say that the associated chaos is not unique to this store. The parking lot is a monster situation of its own, particularly during the early evening on weeknights and all day on weekends. TJs, will you ever sell wine or beer at this location? I've been waiting a long time to live near a Trader Joe's. I came from Buffalo. There's no TJ there either. This store is clean and the staff is friendly. They carry almost everything I love from TJ. Being that we live in the Puritanical state of New York, there is no cheap swill for sale here. Ok. I couldn't get it with my groceries before. But I can get fresh figs which is more than I can say for my locally dominating grocery store. I have not had any problem finding a parking spot. I am not a fan of the double bag policy, but I have had single TJ bags break on me. So, bring your own or trust them on the double bag and re-use them. I am known to complain about the lack of training and/or the lack of giving a shit by my grocery store bagging staff. When I got home my freezer items were all in one bag. My dry goods in another with a loaf of un-smooshed bread on top and my eggs were in a separate bag. I called the store to compliment. Did I mention I bought frozen items? It's a first! The car ride to Massachusetts made it futile in the past. I love artichokes and I'm not a fan of pickled artichokes sooooo....hello frozen artichokes, meet my morning omelet! Hello raw nuts and Valencia peanut butter with flax seeds and butternut squash ravioli and vanilla yogurt with almonds and goat cheese and the best frozen heart attack in front of the TV dinner - shells with brie and asparagus - and chocolate covered vanilla caramels. Pretty much go here every 1-2 weeks to stock up on all the unique seasonal items (I love my pumpkin in April too!) but I had to Yelp because of a particular experience I had last night: I had been eagerly anticipating for the return of the fantastic Triple Ginger Brew this season. About 2 1/2 weeks ago they got their first shipment in & I immediately got 5 bottles. Went back last night hoping to stock up and couldn't seem to find any. I asked one of the guys on floor about it and he said they were all out but he would double check with his manager. Came back and said they were out but there was another shipment coming in that night and being put out the next day at 8 am. However, it was only going to be 5 cases and he guessed they'd be gone within 2 hours. I thanked him for his help and went along to finish up my shopping. Not but 10 seconds later he came back to me and said "Actually our manager would like you to go speak with him". I had no idea what was going on but I made my way over. The manager then proceeded to give me 2 bottles that he had behind the desk. I have to assume they were the final 2 from the previous shipment. Just another great example of how TJ's really seem to care about their customers. I can't say enough good things about the all of the friendly workers in this store. read more

I enjoy Trader Joe's. I love their frozen foods, their selection of cheeses and spreads. My favorites are their cranberry goat cheese, olive hummus, eggplant stacker (frozen, makes a great quick lunch or dinner), pork buns (frozen), marinara sauce, alfredo sauce, Parmesan cheese and their large selection of frozen veggies. Phenomenal store for Albany to have but poor planning on franchise owners to locate it in such a small parking lot. Constantly congested , prone for fender benders and wolf road traffic always a pain. We've proven we support /love the store time to relocate and go big or go home...love stopping in weekly to see introduction of new foods. Wish there were more samples in store..I'd buy more if I could taste more..but weekly must buys are Acai packets, fresh coconut, lemon ginger euchenacia ( I buy this 6 bottles at a time! lOVE IT...dog treats, cookie butter anything, mango cereal, potstickers, Pisa sauce, organic frozen pizza dough, miso ginger broth are couple of staples I love...we should have an app of trader joe favorites and reviews just for their food! read more

This is the normal Trader Joe's minus the wine due to state law. You are unable to go to any supermarket in NY and get wine so stop "wineing" about it! The store was well organized everything was fresh and staff was super friendly! For the stated reasons I give the TJ's a 5 star. It seems foolish for a previous poster to give a 2 star because it's "scary there is on in Colonie" and "It doesn't feel like So Cal." VERY constructive reasons to rate low stars! I love this Trader Joe's and it couldnt be at a better location! However, parking is a nightmare. We literally had to park int he BACK many times! even then,we had to wait for a car to pull out! so thats about the only complaint I have! other than that, the people are friendly! the candy selection is amazing! I recommend the coffe hard candy and the belgian chocolate sticks! theyre inexpensive and taste so righ! there is definetly a difference(STARK) between Belgian chcolate and that nestle/American candy. The chocolate doest taste like chalk! and you get such a bargain! they are cute and fun sized too! I love theri pomegrante tea! and speculoos cookies! you can have the speculoos cookies with chai and it tastes soooo good! If you are going to get coffe, please try the Tarrazu Costa Rican coffee! I PAIR THAT WITH SOME HALF AND HALF! so delicious! Customer service is out of this world!the eomployees go out of their way to help you and they are so friendly at checkout! so that is greatly appreciated! I reocmmend this place! even if you dont do your wekly grocery shopping here, at least take a peak because they do have many specialty items you wont find anywhere else! read more

Some people seriously give less stars because of parking??? In case you didn't notice there is a huge parking lot behind the building 30 seconds walking distance where Macy's is. But I understand, some people can't walk of course, everything has to be extremely convenient. The ones who said they never go back to Trader Joes should just stay with Price Chopper or some other rip off food store, nobody can help them anyway. Pay 5.99 for creme fraiche at price chopper, I will go to Trader Joes and pay 3.49, just one example of many. And by the way, TJ is not a 100% organic store, they have a big variety of non organic food as well. My only wish is that TJ's would have better organic and gluten free choices. Nonetheless, it is great to have Trader Joe's into the capital district. We shop at Trader Joe's all the time, about twice a month. We spend quite a bit as they are not a "cheap" store. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! QUALITY AND QUANTITY!!! They are not your average grocery store! They are a "Specialty type store". They have a large selection of Organic products and health products. I find a lot of products that I use to find when I lived in Europe. I love the cheese and nut selections and especially their chocolate selections for baking. They have a lot of Ethnic products which are not your usual items in a regular grocery. I have only found a couple things I didn't like and I have brought hundreds of their products. They have an interesting assortment of healthy chips and snack items which are awesome to try out. If you are looking for specialty cooking items chances are they have it when most stores do not. They are always helpful and willing to take the time to help you find anything you need which you will not get in Walmart stores. I believe if you shop healthy and eat healthy you will be healthy! I have been a customer of Trader Joe's since it opened and love their products and my shopping experiences. However, on January 3, 2021 I was disappointed with manages response to a customer refusing to wear a mask while not social distancing in the line to enter the establishment. This customer was asked politely to put his mask on and refused. He was trying to start a fight and only put his mask on when I went to talk to an associate at the front of the line. When I returned to the line this customer continued to harass me and my husband. A couple of employees witnessed our situation and offered to get the manager. I was highly disappointed with the manager on duty since he told the man behind us that he didn't have to wear a mask or social distance outside the store while in line waiting to get in. We were harassed by this gentleman in the store and had to rush though our shopping since we didn't feel safe. We expressed our disappointment to the manager on how the situation was handled on our way out. We will not be returning until we ware vaccinated. read more

Location--insane(ly bad) with only one entrance/exit so if you miss it, you're you know what especially if there's traffic. Parking is a chaotic mess and I was here on Tuesday during the day when it should have been slower. Prices---eh, ok. The one thing I liked was the black figs which are hard to find, but everything else was generic and not fun and I just don't get what all of the fuss was about. Was hoping to find some odd ball products with a fun twist, but alas not. And who sells warm/room temperature beer??? Apparently never heard of a cooler. Every product I bought garnered merely a 'meh' or an 'it's ok' from everyone. This included the gruyere cheese, english muffins, sun flower butter, and gnocchi. I'm all about helping the little guy out and bargain shopping, but sadly this place makes me wanna support large retail.....sad face. read more

After shopping at Trader Joe's recently I discovered my car was disabled and I did not have my phone with me. Not only did they help me enormously with phone calls to AAA and my mechanic, Craig and Christine presented me with a bottle of water and a bouquet of flowers to brighten my day and lighten my wait. alright almost a year later and here is my review: there is plenty of easy and fast parking at MANY of the other Albany/Latham places, so go there! Do they compare to Trader Joes? No they do not. Why do I love this place? Any of the frozen entrees are like sitting in a mama/pop restaurant, the quality is that genuine and good! Especially the Indian (any of the choices, but especially the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Spinach with huge and creamy cheese chunks in it); and the italian (try the Turkey Bolognese, you would never know it is turkey and the taste on spaghetti is fabulous! or the eggplant parm towers!); mac and cheese is also the best ever. I must mention the staff: I have never ever had a bad experience with the staff! No idea what these other reviewers are talking about regarding the staff not having courtesy or knowledge. They are always cordial, always lead you to the item you ask them about, always recommend other items related to what you are looking for, there are even some who go Way Above and Beyond in their Knowledge and will tell you "if you think that is great, wait until what we are getting next month related to that same item!" And very nice and cordial at the check out also. Never had an issue. Definitely NOT disappointed and we lived 32 years in California so we KNOW Trader Joes. I didn't think this one would be successful since it doesn't have the Wine they are famous for but it turns out that the Capital Region has some great wine stores with very competitive prices so I don't miss the wine section of this TJs one bit. I wish the store was larger! my only complaint. Good Job Trader Joes, the place is an adventure, the staff is knowledgeable and cordial, and I go at least once a week to stock up on frozen as well as the interesting fresh-made salads and YES the produce section does have the best ever, the grapefruit and mineola oranges were the best I've had since leaving central California, juicy and naturally sweet. read more
