Other than the crowds, you just have to love this place. The $4 flowers I bought weeks ago are still alive and thriving. The cinnamon schoolhouse cookies make me and my little man so happy. This location doesn't have the largest selection of food, but it's a great place to go for the basics and some harder-to-find items like saffron and one of the best places for great produce (their lemons are the best). The prices are great for an organic store; I was surprised! They always have great samples and coffee. The parking lot is a little crazy during the busy hours of the day but there's always a place to park. And don't forget to pick up a dark chocolate bar with the speculoos filling -- AMAZING! read more

The customer service at this TJ's is exemplary! A couple of times, I noticed they were out of an item. Every time, the manager would take my name and number. When the item came in, he would set it aside for me and give me a call. That is certainly going above and beyond! The cashiers are very friendly and all the workers in the store are super helpful. I go every week to get loose potatoes (only 39 cents apiece) compared to about $1.00 at other local grocery stores. They have a fabulous selection of cheese at very reasonable prices. I also love, love, love their cinnamon roll bread, corn bread mix, frozen orange chicken, and many of their sweet treats (especially the special ones they sell during the holidays). read more

I love this Trader Joe's. The prices are extremely reasonable. I go there to get things like almond milk which may cost up to a dollar more in regular grocery stores. The staff there is kind and knowledgeable. Once, I was looking for a particular item, and a worker was able to tell me that it wouldn't be back in the stores for a while. The produce section is fairly small though. read more

I often shop at Trader Joes, but went to the Elkridge location for the first time the other day and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly! This location is by far my favorite now, and I will continue to shop here. A worker actually searched for a specific item I was looking for for well over 15 minutes and although he couldn't find it, he helped me find a sufficient alternative and was just so helpful. I like this location because the staff is friendly. The customers are a bit uppity, but the staff stays hip, cool and charming. Parking can be a challenge, but the products are great, healthy and affordable. If I spend $30, I come out of the store with a few bags of groceries, so it doesn't kill my wallet. Eating healthy can be expensive, but it is affordable and tasty at Trader Joe's. read more

I'm so glad I can buy organic or all-natural food for affordable prices. Best of all, TJ's doesn't have that snobbish feel that many of these types of stores do or employees that are way far out there. And the employees actually know what they are talking about. Hurray! Columbia gets Trader Joe's. If all goes well and we also get Wegman's, we'll finally be able to stop driving to Baltimore or Silver Spring or miles up 83 to Shawan Road to get our gourmet goodies. Maybe Whole Foods will wake up and smell the disposable income and realize their trucks already go down 95, might as well stop off in rapidly up and coming Columbia. Trader Joe's as most everyone knows (hey that rhymes) are really popular stores where you can get stuff like herbed turkey and Joe's brands stuff which is both high quality, yet reasonably priced. Employees seem always to be friendly and quirky and, my favorite thing of all, check out is always fast. This Trader Joe's is no exception. Thanks, company for coming here. Also, great location! We can fill up on cheap gas from Costco while we're here, and drop a load of money at Lowes thanking our lucky stars we don't have to see the mice running over the floor like at Home Depot. (That funny smell in Home Depot on Snowden River Parkway? I once saw an employee kill a mouse with a broom and then sweep it under one of the displays. True story! ) But back to Joe's - the organic stuff, the Joe's O's (cheerios), the decent bread - all worth the visit! read more

A reasonably priced healthful and gourmet grocery store with the friendliest staff gets 5 stars from me! I love this place. They have the coolest foods to choose from and the freshest most delicious produce. They also have fresh sushi, hummus, spreads, cheeses, 7 layer dips!, salad mixes, lots of different meats and seafood. I love the selection of frozen foods too; spinach pies, vegetarian french onion soup and pretty much any delicious meal or snack you can think of. They also have tons of different nut mixtures, chips, crackers, peanut butter filled pretzel bites!. The sun dried tomato brushetta is my absolute favorite, it's perfect on bread or crackers. They also carry all of your other regular items such as salad dressings, salsas, marinara sauce, beans, pasta, bread, dairy, coffee, tea, beauty products and a huge assortment of vitamins and supplements. The location of this store is excellent, it's close to other shops and restaurants and very easy to get to from 95, 175 and 108. Definitely deserves 5 stars! read more

I've come to this store several times, but today they really went above and beyond, and I realized I had never reviewed them, so here I am. The employees have always been friendly, personable, and relatable. The store is clean, shelves are well stocked, and selection of items is great! Today, I would really give them more than 5 stars if I could. It was a very hot day, and while loading my 6 month old twins into the car, I managed to lock one in with my keys and purse. I was frantic! I ran back inside for help, and an employee named Andrea was so reassuring and quickly called the fire department to come pop my lock. Another employee (whose name I didn't catch) ran out after us and gave me an umbrella to shade my daughter I was still holding and a couple bottles of water. Andrea stayed with me and helped keep me as calm as possible, and even offered to hold the umbrella or my daughter to give my arms a break. I know this is a "special" situation and not really a typical review, but I think their actions today speak volumes about the type of awesome employees this store has and how much they care about their customers. read more

With most mainstream grocery stores now offering a fair selection of specialty ("natural") foods and the other specialty stores in the Columbia area - Roots, David's, and Whole Foods - staying competitive with their wide selections, vibrant atmospheres, and amenities, this Trader Joe's is lagging behind and looking dated. Their selection is thin - a little of this, a smattering of that - and the layout is drab, with no cafe, salad bar, or juice bar to give me a reason to shop there unless I happen to be in the sprawling Gateway Overlook shopping center for another reason. However, what they do have is wholesome and of high quality. And the staff are friendly and helpful. read more

What's not to love about trader joes?? You can buy sooo much good quality stuff here without breaking the bank. They always have a really nice selection of seasonal produce. You can't get away with doing ALL your shopping here, but you can get a lot of the essentials for much better prices. I'm a big fan of their salads and their frozen food section. So many different things to choose from that don't seem super unhealthy. The service is always great here and the employees are always more than willing to help out. I wish they'd bring a Trader Joe's to Baltimore! read more

Love the "new" Trader Joe's in Elkridge! Employees actually notice that you're looking for something and offer assistance! Wow, what a time warp. May have something to do with Howard County's "Civility" campaign. I've shopped at the Annapolis location, which is also a great experience, and I've shopped at the Pikesville location, which is a nice store with excellent employees, but many of the shoppers seem to have a "get out of my way" attitude with sour faces. At the Elkridge store, I've even had other customers tell me about a great product such as the smoked trout. The distance from my house to the Pikesville and the Elkridge stores is the same, so going to the store where even the customers are amiable and polite is my choice. read more

I occasionally shop here and have always enjoyed the selection. Prices range from good to fair but the quality of nearly all the items is high. Staff is helpful and they are constantly restocking merchandise (which is necessary because the store is usually very busy). I've noticed that if more than two customers are wating to check out the manager will open a new register. I particularly recommend their fresh salsa, kefir, bella crema mushrooms and ground beef. But I like just about everythng they have to offer. On weeked afternoons be prepared to wait 15-20 minutes before reaching the register (yes, it gets that busy). read more
