I love TJs. I'm going to give this place five stars because of its customer service. I was paying for my items when decided to ask the cashier/manager Robbie O if they still carry Cowboy Bark, a chocolate concoction that my cousin loved when I took some to Canada. He said yes and went to get a bag though my items had already been bagged. He also brought a bag of Cowgirl Bark and told me that they now carry this too. I told Robbie that my cousin prefers the dark chocolate and that I would stick with the Cowboy Bark. He told me to try the Cowgirl Bark and gave me a free bag. TJs has reasonably priced items under their own brand name and they are very good. The canned stuffed grape leaves aren't bad at all. I'm glad TJs came to Houston. I wish they would carry some chocolate covered figs I bought at TJs in Pasadena, California. It was a product from Spain. I look forward to the caramallows which are carried only in Christmas. read more

I would like to petition for a Trader Joe's on the northwest side of Houston. I didn't take away any stars because of this, but I really hate sitting in Houston traffic. I can't seem to figure out a good time/route to get here without sitting in at least 20 solid minutes of bumper to bumper congestion. Rant aside, I love Trader Joe's. Their products are usually awesome. I love their orange chicken, macaroons, soy chorizo, and mochi. The produce is always fresh and chocolate items are delicious. I docked one star because I think their meat is kind of pricey. I prefer HEB or Costco for meat and think the quality is better. I've never had any issues with customer service here so no complaints there. Parking is way better here than the Shephard location so also a plus. read more

Visited this location for the first time this week and was really impressed. They have fresh selection of fruits that my wife took advantage of and their floor plan made it easy for us to shop through the store. The staff were supper friendly where we were asked multiple times if there was anything we needed. Their frozen foods were also very well stocked and we found items we have been looking for some time. Over enjoyed the visit would definitely come back. read more

I love Trader Joe's, this location you have to check the expiry date to produce as it be real close to the current date, other than that, love it! I just purchased some uncured Trader Joe's bacon. Just opened it up. IT IS NOTHING BUT PURE FAT! VERY DISAPPOINTING TO SAY THE LEAST. IT WAS packaged to show the meat, of course. You expect some fat, but really ?? 95 per cent fat, not kidding. I can honestly say, this is the worst bacon I have ever purchased. I'll stick with Sprouts, thank you very much. read more

I liked my first experience with Trader Joe's via the location in the old movie theater, but I like this one even more! Why? This one is less of a spectacle and more of a super market. It's a stand alone building, with a NORMAL parking lot, even though it's just as packed, a bit easier to maneuver in and out of. My undying love goes to Trader Joe's for having a Houston presence. This is absolutely the place that I rely on (other than Central Market) to feed myself as a single. I have no family or significant other to feed, and so the portion sizes are perfect for me. I also love that it is cheaper and yet still has interesting food. I like this location better than the Alabama location because it is generally a lot less busy. It might be smaller and have less selection, but there seems to be more aisle room here, too. There is one checker here who is slow as heck, but everyone else has a quick moving line. The only "meh" point for me is the parking lot / exit situation. If there is any amount of traffic, I would suggest going here at a different time of day. I don't think more than three cars can leave per light. read more

Very excited about the new location and it certainly holds up to the hype. It is a bit smaller than the Kroger and Randall's right around the corner, but it is certainly packed full of the Trader Joe's products you know and love. The only reason I can't give it a 5 star is because it is small compared to the other ones I've been too. It's like going to the Madisonville Buc-ee's then going to the Mueschke Road one, you just know how much more they can fit in there! I picked up blueberry scones, my favorite Sesame Honey Cashews and a bottle of 2 (er $2.99) Buck Chuck all for less than $15. Not a bad deal! Also, the grand opening was awesome! They had their lei cutting, leis as you walk in, a steel drum playing, samples everywhere. Too much fun! read more

This Trader Joe's is ok, pretty small compared to other locations. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They seem to focus on wine more than anything, which I find odd but whatever. Some of the products are fabulous and others have missed the mark completely. I do like the fact that you can buy a weeks worth of groceries for 60.00. This location doesn't carry a lot of the "trademark" TJ favorites. I think they should focus on expanding the produce and fresh prep they offer. Also they don't carry the white bean hummus here and that's one of the best items. I do like the fact the allow you to taste test anything before you buy it. I had never been to a TJ before, but always heard people talk about it in a cult following fashion. I kept wanting to check it out, but there isn't one near me (yet). Managed to run in right before closing one night for some quick grabs and got to see a little bit of what all the fuss is about. I can tell this would easily be a dangerous place for me to frequent. Lots of eye catching snacks and such. Luckily(?) we didn't have much time so we were forced to leave without buying everything we saw. I'm looking forward to my next visit, but I'll have to mentally prepare myself not to scoop up too much. read more

These guys are so helpful and friendly whereas The otherhas melt downs if someone calls to ask which aisle something is in. I appreciate all of the front line workers though. I love Trader Joe's. I would drive to the location in The Woodlands when that was the closest one. Then I would drive to Shepherd even though the parking there sucks rocks! But I RAN to this location when it opened because it's SO close to my home. I'm in love with it. I don't cook. Correction: I don't cook when there are a lot of steps involved, which means you will probably never catch me making anything from scratch. Plus I only have to worry about feeding myself, so Trader Joe's is right up my alley with their fantastic array of foods that can just be warmed up in an oven or in a skillet, or that are just easy to prepare in general. The grass fed beef tastes great as tacos. The potato chips are fantastic when dipped in their cheddar and jalapeno dip. Their mochi is awesome. The panko breaded tilapia is heavenly. AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE COOKIE BUTTER, THE WHITE CHEDDAR POPCORN, OR THE CHEAP but tasty WINE!!!! The flowers are gorgeous and last a long time. The employees are super nice, really seem to enjoy working there, and don't mind talking to you about your purchases as they check you out... but not in a creepy way. I highly recommend Trader Joe's to anyone. Anyone. Everyone should be able to find something to buy here. read more

I'm going to definitely agree with the other Yelpers that this location is much better than the Shepherd/Alabama one... It's definitely not as crowded and although the parking lot seems small, it's 10x better than the other location... Go during your lunch hour on a weekday, it'll be empty. I promise! There's a floral section by the entrance. Not only is it decent priced but they have herbs if you like to use them in cooking and flowers that are great for gift giving! The wine and beer selection is pretty neat, definitely check it out and bring home some two buck chuck. Family gatherings and dinner parties will drink it up! read more

Ugh, I shouldn't be allowed to come in here anymore. We came here looking for their famous cookie butter, but I came out with a bag of cookies, 2 different flavors of ice cream sandwiches (I couldn't decide which one was better, so naturally I bought both), a box of mochi ice cream, and some macarons..... While their location at the old Alabama theater in the loop is more compact, this location has wider aisles and nice big windows that lets more light in. Perfect for those of us non-yupsters who live outside the loop. It's more of a specialty store, so you won't really find all of your grocery staples here, but you'll also find plenty of other stuff that you didn't know you needed. Avoid this place if you are devoid of willpower, like me. read more

Omg how I love this location way more than the Shepherd location which is close to where I live now; I will make the extra mile drive from now own for a more peaceful shopping experience. This location reminds me of my fave Westheimer location; I love the spaciousness, the layout, and hassle free, walk up to the register (rather than snake around the store and aisles with 1-3 items in hand) of my choice. Everyone is super friendly, as is customary with TJs and always eager to help. Everything is easy to find. Love the ample space in each aisle as well as produce area. Parking hasn't been a hassle; I've always had luck finding plenty of open spots. The only small downside, perhaps, is the sheer traffic on Voss; however, I am totes willing to forego that just to have an enjoyable experience without all the tight crowds and super long line. I am definitely making this location my primary TJ! read more

Love shopping at a Trader Joe's any time and anywhere. The customer service is always great, prices are very reasonable, store is kept clean & organized, and they have some of the most fun & unique products. I can usually get all my weekly necessities (including some fun snacks to try) for under $30 while it would normally cost me around $40 at Krogers. It helps that they charge produce by item instead of per ounce/pound. I've been to both locations in Houston now and this one does seem slightly larger with a greater selection of produce/baked goods. Parking is also tons easier here. Don't leave without a box of their S'mores Ice Cream Sandwiches or Cookie Butter! read more

I live in Austin - which STILL has not one Trader Joe's location. So when I am visiting relatives in Houston I make sure I have time (and an insulated shopping bag) to shop at Trader Joe's. Who says that Austin is the trendsetter in this state (lol). The Memorial location of TJ's is excellent. Very friendly staff and stocked with reasonably priced and quality items. IF I lived in Houston, I'd be shopping here every week (and not at Whole Paycheck down the street). Prices are soooo much more reasonable - I'd say 35% less than WFM. Great place. Austin: you suck for not allowing a TJ's to open as in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio (guess the corrupt city hall administration did not benefit from Trader Joe's plans for Central Texas). Two thumbs up (would be three if I had an extra thumb) and 4 stars (less one star for the smaller size/fewer SKUs at the bigger store in Montrose). read more

Visiting from South Florida, a fellow health/organic/non-Gmo lover suffers from the non-existence of a Trader Joe's. I was extremely happy to finally be able to visit one in Houston and definitely wanted to take advantage of it. The store is smaller than I imagined but isles are stocked with an array of items. The items on top of the frozen food isles can kind of be looked over because there are placed so closely to each other without much differentiation. It's easy to overlook a gem in the pile! Shopping was a pleasure here as we went around evening time on a Tuesday and it wasn't too busy at all. I do wish the bakery section was more plentiful but maybe the time of the day we went had an effect on that. Prices are so much more reasonable for organic foods than in South Florida and workers were friendly. Would love to stop by here again in the future! read more

I want to say this up front, I adore trader joe's (full stop).. This location however doesn't seem quite as nice or as well stocked as the original location on Shepherd -- not sure if it's a different size or what. Will say it's 90% the same store, just a few things vary from store to store, this store definitely carries far less meat, and maybe somewhat less in the frozen section. I find the produce here also is always on the verge, so if you buy something it needs to be used in a couple days which does hamper the perceived notion of value, where as shepherd I can get tomatoes that will be fine for 4-5 days without getting soft/overripe. So I guess it's a stocking issue, or how much merchandise is being sold (traffic), so yeah I prefer the other location, however one big plus here NO LINES.. Yes, you read that right NO LINES, several checkers available and checking out is a breeze, and it's a given Trader Joe's employees regardless of location are great, usually friendly and always helpful The staff at the registers also must be trained at tetris as they pack grocery bags like a pro, seriously they should give lessons to other stores (yes kroger I remember bleach and cilantro in the same bag).. So slightly smaller store, produce isn't quite as fresh, meat departments smaller, but it's super convenient to get in and out quickly.. So yeah, Trader Joe's is a winner. read more

I used to not be a fan of TJ when I lived in Chicago, but I suddenly started coming when they brought them to Houston. I love this location. It is in a pretty busy part of town, especially during rush hour. The staff is very friendly. They are usually pretty well stocked with everything. I have been trying out their beauty/ body products. When I lived in Oregon and there were no Trader Joe's in Texas I used to shop at my local Trader Joe's all the time. When I moved back to Texas one of the things I was saddest about was the lack of Trader Joe's. So, of course I was thrilled when I learned they were coming to Texas....but now that they're here, I don't shop at Trader Joe's that often. Isn't that always the way?...we always want what we can't have. And we take what we have for granted. Anyway, life lesson over. I really do love Trader Joe's and need to shop at this one more often (it's very close to my home). Their products are creative and delicious! Although I don't feel like they encourage me to be healthy. I'm most drawn to their packaged candies, cookies, and frozen appetizers. They also have delicious healthy items, but I'm usually most excited by their unhealthy items. And while I can pass up the Oreo's in my local Kroger, Joe-Joe's just seem BETTER and more irresistible. I also love Trader Joe's packaged salads, hummus, cheese selection, sausages, nuts, wine, coffee, and bath products....oh and their fresh flowers! The only item that consistently disappoints in every Trader Joe's I've been to is their produce. Like I said, I don't really go to Trader Joe's for their healthy items, but it would be convenient to be able to buy produce there instead of having to make a separate trip to another grocery store. Such a cute little speciality store! Not as big as Whole Foods but they do have neat things here that I can't find at Whole Foods. The selections were minimal, like I didn't see much of candy. All the employees here are so nice and acknowledge you. I was walking up and down the aisles over and over again looking for Jingle Jangle mix, but they ran out for the season. One of the employees offered to call other locations to track it down for me and let me know that they also sold Jingle Jangle ice cream, which is phenomenal by the way. This TJ slapped the Ugly off the poor teeny tiny can't fit between the isles of the other TJ on West Alabama. Like s swift round house, Chuck Norris style beat down IF it was a competition of Trader Joes. This puppy is large and in charge, with LOTS of space in between isles, to race around supermarket sweep style. No bumping into angry patrons trying to get their gluten free brownies. No sir. Decided to check this place out on my lunch, as it's close to the office, and found it to be quite busy. No kale in stock (sad face) but lots of other goodies. I grabbed some cookie butter for my boss (he was immediately in love) and got some salads for work, and trail mix for snacks. They have TONS of stuff for health nuts, and people who LUURRRVE their food. Salmon, cheeses galore, meats, and fresh veggies, and healthy nuts, grains and oats. Inexpensive flowers and basil pots, and lots and lots of cheap wine. Will definitely come back when I have more time! Oh, and I had PLENTY of parking--Take that West Alabama! read more
