I love shopping at Trader Joe's and this location is just as good as the rest. They hire a great staff, helpful and friendly at all times. They have a few staple items my family enjoys that we keep returning for as well as new items that come out every month. Prices are fair for the freezer and shelved items, the fresh meat and cheeses are a bit more expensive, but the quality is worth the occasional splurge. Great grocery store in the area! read more

He managed to do all this while maintaining the utmost level of respect and class. The next day we returned to the battleground. This time Tim was working at the checkout, in true Tim fashion. My weekend home away from home was conveniently located next to this grocery store, so the spendthrift in me took advantage of this situation. We stopped in Trader Joe's specifically to pick up cheese, crackers and fruit for our romantic night in our bungalow. We had brought a bottle of sparkling wine for our trip and we felt like staying in. The staff is very helpful and friendly at all TJs so customer service isn't a problem. During our visit, it was crowded so we were in and out within 15 mins. We ended up getting crackers, strawberries (sweet!), and soft goat cheese. When we got into the room, we opened the cheese and there was a rancid smell and the cheese had brown spots on it. When I looked at the sell by date, it was for early July. It was already mid-July. This Traders Joe's goes above and beyond when it comes to amazing customer service!!! I was looking for the cheddar cheese puffs and they only the onion flavor available. The employee told me that they are out of the regular flavor ones, but that he would double check. He literally jumped to see what was way back on the shelf and found the cheese puffs I was looking for. They got buried under the onion flavor. He could have just said we are out and not bothered to check, but he not only checked he made the effort to jump as high as he could so that he could see way back into the shelf. It was such an amazing and super nice act of kindnesses!!! I was having a bad day and those are my favorite snack and him doing that really helped turn my day around. My wife and I have frequently shopped at your stores for decades. We love the product, prices and service we've received for years. We shop there so much that i know a lot of them by name and they too know me by name. Today was a different experience altogether. We went over to buy brownie mix. We stood in line waiting our turn to be waved in. Carlos, the shift manager, was running the door at that time. He informed us that the wait would be a little longer because the lines at the register were backed up. My wife replied "not a problem sweetie". To which he replied, 'nothing I can do, you're just going to have to wait". The reply struck me as odd but i let it go thinking that maybe he misunderstood my wife or maybe he was having a bad day. As we approached the entry of the store my wife pulled up her mask over her nose and proceeded to walk in while being told by Carlos to put her mask over her nose. She said "no problem" and again he replied very aggressively, "if you don't like it you can leave the store" It was already over her nose at that moment! I told him to not to speak to my wife that way and that his reply wasn't necessary because she already had her mask over her nose and to just be quiet. He then told us to leave the store and that he was going to call the police because I had cused at him. I was dumb founded and numb by what i was hearing. I even though that he might be joking. It was honestly a moment out of the twilight zone. We continued to shop but as we were trying to check out he gave the cashiers orders not to check us out and that again we had to leave the store and that the police were on the way. We couldn't believe what was going on. He wasn't being quiet about it either. My wife was mortified! I politely asked him if we could step off to one side and talk about what had just happened. He said he wasn't going to because i had insulted him. He asked me if i had any idea how stressful his job is, that he had to stand there letting people in, most of the elderly, and to top it off he had to deal with people like us being rude. I don't understand what any of that meant. I kept telling him i never cused at him and we were never rude. He said the entire time we were standing outside we were rude to him. We never even talked to him while we were outside. Honestly, we didn't even pay him any attention. He was visibly upset and seemed that he wasn't all there. Possibly he might have been dealing with personal issues and we, for some reason, was his breaking point. Another manager came over so i asked him if i could talk to him and he said no, i asked him why and he said because i shouldn't be cussing at anyone. Carlos then told the manager that i had threatened him. I ask that, as unreal as this story might sound, i'm sure there are cameras there that can tell my composure versus his. He pushed me back from the door claiming i was blocking it and for me to keep my distance. I wasn't even standing in front of the door. I was off to one side. My wife tried to reason with him too and she too was told that she was rude to him. We've NEVER been treated so poorly. My wife was left in tears and shaken up over this. I'm still numb from the whole experience. We would NEVER treat people this way, much less at a place we love to shop and know several people there personally. I'm certain Trader Joes prides themselves on product, price and SERVICE. Carlos was a HORRIBLE reflection of what Trader Joes stand for. There are other options and we're pretty certain we'll never be going back there. Carlos need to be made aware of his demeaning and humiliating behavior toward us. I'm not sure what triggered him but he was clearly not altogether there. If we need to be called to go back and talk to his superiors we would be more than happy to. We're honestly shaken up over this experience and my wife was left in tears. read more

Though there was someone previously saying they didn't like the customer service, I cannot say enough NICE things about the crew at La Quinta TJs! Consistently, they are friendly, kind and helpful. There is someone in the aisles asking if you need help finding anything, and the assistant manager I spoke with today was super sweet to me. In the checkout, my crew member was efficient, very friendly and made the checkout a great experience. And I want to give a shout out to the young man in the red shirt with the dark hair who checked out the older fellow who wanted to chat with him. This crew member was so kind and patient. I was so impressed, that's why I spoke with the assistant mgr - I wanted him to know I saw this - it was an above and beyond interaction. So La Quinta TJs crew, I see you and how hard you work! Consistently the cashiers with the worst attitudes. This had happened so frequently that I only shop here if I'm in a rush. I'd rather drive out of my way to Palm Desert than encounter these jerks. I don't know what it is. The PD store is great every time. Ppl are pleasant and thank you for coming in. Maybe the "employees" in La Quinta don't appreciate that its the customers who fund their employment. And like it or not thats what you are - calling them " crew members" doesn't change that fact. This was my first time in this store. It was on my way home and I was armed with a gift card. I love Trader Joe's for the variety of cheese, and high end meats. I bought a few types of cheese and enough goodies to make a "pic-nic" dinner for hubby and myself. It's close to Halloween and Trader Joe's has a nice variety of ceramic planters in Dia De Los Muertos day. I love skulls but I had to pass by. Drat. I should have stuck one in my cart! I didn't even spend my entire gift card. Drat! I should have put the planter in my cart. Oh well. At least our dinner was awesome. I love their double cream gorgonzola and creamy gouda. They even had Collumbus salami. I bought some frozen puff pastry with sesame seeds on it. Popped them in my convection oven to lay my Trader Joe's cheese on. Nice store. Clean. Wide aisles. Ring a ding ding..I gave two stars only because even though this is a great joes compared to the others. Good mgt. Of course the usual great joes eats.. They finally got cart areas in the parking lot to place our carts in before we get in our cars and leave. HOWEVER, some people ignore them and still leave their carts all over the lot necessitating people to park in another slot because carts were left in parking spaces. I wanted to buy "just chicken" but when I read the ingredients, it included dextrose and sugar. Why call if "just chicken" if it is more than that? Call it "chicken with sugar added" - and by the way, who needs sugar or sweetening ingredients in a meat product? read more

A pretty standard sized Trader Joe's with the basics. It was a little weird having the sample area to the side of the market. The organization was the typical in other locations with the produce on the right and the registers to the left of the entrance. The staff was really friendly and the store was clean. My go-to Trader Joe's! Not only is it always clean and organized and has a cooler for wine and beer (as a procrastinator I highly appreciate this!) they are the kindest crew around! The other day I was shopping with my toddler and using a kids shopping cart for a few items. I put a few wine bottles in her cart only for them to fall out the back and crash on the floor! I was so embarrassed and may have actually said so out loud! Not only did the staff not make me feel bad they cleaned up swiftly AND recreated my entire cart of items that got wet all the way down to the exact greeting card I picked out. It all happened so fast and I was shocked and in awe and just so thankful they didn't make me feel worse than I already did! I love Trader Joes in general, but I really like this store not because of the proximity - but because of the employees that work there. I got injured a little over a year ago, and they're always asking me how I'm doing and if there's any improvement. I know it may not seem like much, but during season that store gets so crazy busy.. And for them to take two seconds out of their time to ask and remember is pretty sweet (& they don't just ask during checkout.. Like the standard greeting, but when they see me). Not one of the best, cleanest or biggest TJs I've seen, but okay if you are cooking that night or want canned goods to store. Some great prices on all kinds of canned fish & ethnic foods, like stuffed grape leaves for $3/can... restaurant quality in taste, actually, which is great. Clientele is mainly elderly, Mexican & a bit surly, but that might be due to the store feeling overcrowded quite easily as the isles are fairly narrow and/or inhabited by multi mini tables one must maneuver around with giant baskets... difficult for those with canes or those who are somewhat immobile & for everyone else trying to move out of their ways or glide around them. Friendly, capable, fast check out staff, on the other hand. They don't make rotisserie chickens at this location, which is mainly what we wanted, as nearby hotel patrons without a fridge or stove in our room. Sadly, too, there wasn't much in the way of ready-to-eat food, unless you want cold cuts & bread. Their pre-made salads looked lovely but were $9/container (x 2 we didn't wish to spend $18 for salad only), so we skipped it & went next door to Stater Bros. Lots of frozen & canned foods, which is why I don't often shop TJs as I eat 95% fresh, so if you're hotel bound sans microwave or fridge & looking to eat a prepared meal, skip it all together & go across the street to Stater Bros. They do have cooked chickens & some nice, cheaper than TJs salads & there's far more room in which to maneuver around the cranky locals. read more
