A pandemic is not the time to make people even more scared. I had done nothing to deserve the treatment that followed: This guy Saul took a personal vendetta on me...he was nasty to me and followed me around the store from the moment I entered. Hovering over me, way too close. Remember social distancing??? The more I asked him to stand back, the meaner he got. He rudely stopped me at checkout in front of everyone and forced me to give back one of the 2 frozen pasta dinners, saying I could only have ONE! ( BTW, this is not true, we are allowed 2 ). And when I said, I'm sorry I didn't know I could only take one, he replied " You're not sorry, you are socially irresponsible and hoarding". Really? Hoarding? I had exactly 12 items in my cart to feed myself for the next week, 2 items were dog food. I have the receipt to prove it. He publicly humiliated me all around the store and when I was leaving I was shaking and on the verge of tears and no one cared. Like robots, 3 more employees stood around me looking down at me in the seated cart with faces of stone when I asked why I was being treated this way. A very insincere apology made with a smirk. Good bye TJ's! I won't come back, your products are getting worse and worse anyway, not the high quality they once were.... This was a horrible experience and I want an apology!! I'm not holding my breath for that, but someone should take some responsibility for talking to a customer like they were dirt! Saul, I feel sorry for you getting your kicks intimidating old people. When a person asks you to stand back, you do it! Or does NO mean YES to you? You put me at risk of infection... Shame on you! read more

Trader Joe's offers all the usual goodies at a fair price. At TJ's you can stock up on affordable staples like meat, grains & wine. Finding the store may be a little tricky-- It's not *right* on washington, but in a strip mall close to washington. Parking is easy. read more

This is about the customer service, the kindness of strangers and those wonderful souls that work at Trader Joe's. Today one such kind fellow, Shawn in La Quinta, CA really made my day. I'd like to share his gesture in hopes that it will inspire others and that he can serve as a lovely example of what people can do for one another. It was a rough day today. I popped in the store for a quick purchase on my way home. He greeted me at the check out with a friendly hello and "how is your day going so far?" Poor guy didn't know how loaded that questions was. I was avoiding eye contact as I had been crying. I managed to say, "it's not such a great day" because by now we had made eye contact and anything else would clearly be a lie. He quickly responded that putting my feet up and a glass of wine might help, trying to be cheerful. I offered that there's not enough wine for this one but thanks. He paused and looked at me earnestly concerned and so I shared that I lost a sister today. He apologized and we finished my sale in silence. As I started to leave he said "hang on a minute" and walked away. He came back with flowers and gave them to me and offered his condolences. It touched my heart like you can't imagine. These flowers now sit here to remind me of how one person's thoughtfulness, can lift a spirit. The pain isn't gone of course but when I look at them I'm touched by heartfelt kindness. Thank you again, Shawn and thank you Trader Joe's for hiring people like Shawn and encouraging them to interact with your customer's. It really does make a difference. read more

Very clean, and the clerks are super friendly- consistently an easy place to shop! They were super kind about looking for some smoked salmon and found it had just come in on a new shipment. They are very helpful and will do everything to help including see if the palm desert store has some item too... yummy food and kind people- best! read more

Full disclosure, I am a Trader Joe's fan. Have been for decades since I discovered the deals I could find on gourmet items there. The friendly service and quality of inventory has held up all along, and I love that the emphasis in selecting items for their limited stockage is on the combination of deliciousness and value. I routinely shop at 3 of their stores (2 in Huntington Beach and 1 in La Quinta) and can always count on friendly, helpful people in the store. I see that there have been a few people who have had bad experiences over the last year while CA has gone in and out of varying levels of pandemic shutdowns. I'm sure there have been some frustrating, even upsetting interactions - customers and employees have been stressed and that is bound to cause issues sometimes. I for one just want to thank all the employees for showing up. I'll bet that at times it was scary, and maybe there were policies you were being asked to enforce that were unpopular or even illogical - I know you have all done your best in a difficult and confusing time. You could have quit and taken unemployment but you showed up to make sure your customers got what they needed, and my family is very grateful for that. For those that aren't feeling grateful, and are experiencing tension, defensiveness, anger over the store's policies or staff: I wonder if spending your energy to write a nasty review helped ? My guess is it only left you feeling more wound up - which sucks for you and the people around you. Maybe next time try giving some grace, and a few deep breaths before you write a one star review - from the bottom of my heart I hope it will make you feel better. read more

I had such an amazing experience today at TJs. I usually do but this one kind caught me off guard. I usually go to the Palm Desert TJs but happened to be closer to the one in La Quinta. I happen to talk to myself and on 2 different occasions the employee heard me talking and with out question helped me find the item. It wasn't my intention to ask for help but I was just so thankful that they were so willing to go out of their way to help me. These are really stressful times and it's trips like today that made my experience wonderful. I just can't stop gushing about the customer service to everyone. I live in Idyllwild which is an hour away so driving down the hill can be a little stressful. Thank you Trader Joe's for making my weekly shopping trip amazing! Great quality at reasonable prices. You can count on organic, non-gmo, and healthy alternatives for just about any grocery item used by a household. Add a friendly and knowledgeable staff, and this is why they are the main store for our grocery shopping needs. read more

Not sure why I'm a fan? I think TJ's has grown on me because they have the unusual items you can't find any where else, like this months Mango crazy items, and I love mangos. From the spicy mangos, to the mango Mochi ice cream to spicy mango salsa...I'm a fan. And of course the unique wines I would have never buy if not for my neighbor. She had us over for a little wine and pool party and served the most refreshing Italian wine only found here. read more

Trader Joe's is doing a fabulous job trying to keep everyone safe. Wiping down carts before people use them, Sanitizing peoples hands as they come in, keeping the number of people in the store to a minimum so there are no lines to wait for check out, and in the rain and sun they put up tents for waiting outside the store. Cento San Marzano Tomatoes, are the best for the base of a great Italian Meal. Use fresh herbs, and your friends and family will rave about your cooking, as they do for mine. Cento San Marzano Tomatoes are available at numerous stores in the valley, also at numerous prices. Target is the cheapest, but you have to take at least a dozen cans off the shelf to find one, that isn't dented. Trader Joe's for a few pennies more.. NEVER a dented can! Hell yeah. I will start by saying I'm a big fan of Trader Joe's. Unfortunately, this location struggles with keeping popular items in stock. Arrive late in the afternoon and you'll likely find a bare shelf for that one item you need to make what you want to make for dinner. I have politely discussed this 3 times now over the course of 3 months with the manager on duty. The first 2 times were with the dark-haired male manager who neither acknowledged my existence nor apologized for my inconvenience. Instead, he lifted his head only long enough to scream half way across the store to ask staff to "check in the back" to see if more stock existed. It didn't. Yesterday I approached a different manager (female) and expressed my discontent about the same item once again being out of stock at 4:30 in the afternoon. I suggested the obvious that they need to up their daily allotment for this item. She agreed. I'm hopeful the problem is solved, at least for this one item I need on an ongoing basis. A well managed store shouldn't struggle with keeping popular staples on the shelf. They also shouldn't struggle with interacting politely with customers. I remain hopeful this store can pull its act together as it's too convenient to my desert home to travel to the next nearest location in Palm Desert. Yes, the store is clean and much less crowded than the average Trader Joe's .... but what good does that do you if they don't have what you came for? read more

So, let's be honest... When you have 3 kids, shopping at Trader Joe's for all of your grocery needs is not possible; however, there are staple items I get from TJ's weekly that help our healthy lifestyle and the location couldn't be better. I have a son with an allergy to dairy, and standard grocery stores, as well as big box stores, carry little (and often times no) soy/non-dairy options. We like everything about this TJs....even the parking lot. The staff always asks us if we need help finding anything, and the checkers always seem to be on a mission to get us into the shortest line. Wines, limited liquor and lots o'beers at better than normal prices. Great place to "find" your wine palate without breaking your bank. Hi! There is a manager who works at Trader Joe's in La Quinta, CA and his name is Tom. He is one of the nicest managers you will ever meet anywhere. He is gracious, understanding and knowledgeable. I shop once a month and go back for things here and there and try new items all the time. Tom always seems busy but will genuinely take the time to listen to your question or concern. He has taken care of me on a regular basis without question for anything I have ever had concerns with. I am very impressed with his professionalism and kind assistance so I decided to write this review about him. When you come to La Quinta, CA, this is a great Trader Joe's to visit. Great store with lots of variety. Friendly service, too. It was pretty crowded, but when I was ready to check-out and in line, they opened more lines so people could check out quickly.
