Trader Joe's is inexpensive, convenient, and most of their products are organic or at least mostly natural. It is my go-to place for snack cheeses, cured meats, wine, milk, and a few frozen staples. The down side: It is not my favorite place to buy fresh produce (so much packaging!) or things like rice, dried fruits and nuts that are available in bulk at the co-op. Their selection varies a little, so I've fallen in love with multiple products to have them be gone for good (or at least until the season comes back around) when I've gone back for more. I love that Olympia has a Trader Joe's and I end up stopping in at least once a week. There are just so many great things (at great prices) that they do better than anywhere else...like that ridiculous cinnamon cheese they carried for Fall this year, and those strangely delicious shrimp corn dogs. Hey I just want to give a shout out to our local TJ's. They really have their sh-- together for our "situation". I am fortunate enough to qualify for the early geezer opening hour from 8-9 every morning. Everything was orderly, clean and efficient. I was offered hand sanitizer on the way in as well as a more than cursory cart wipe down. All employees & customers were appropriately masked. Shelves were well stocked and traffic was limited to 30 customers at a time. TJ's does not carry every item you might desire but for the duration, I would be more than content to limit myself to a once weekly early morning trip to this low stress, easy destination. And with the 401K tanking, saving a few $$$ is pretty cool too! read more

The employees at this Trader Joe's are always pleasant and helpful. And if they can't find what you're looking for, they find someone else who can. For a small store, they always have a great variety. My kids love the samples in the back and I love the easy to find everything lay-out of the store. It's hard not to buy more than planned when there are so many tasty treats and healthy snacks on every aisle. I've been going to this location for 7 years and I've never been disappointed. The only down side might be the lack of parking spaces. It shares the lot with Barnes & Noble and a Pet store. On a busy Saturday, it's tough to find a spot . . . but when I go on a weekday morning, it's never a problem. read more

The staff is super nice during these trying times and are very conscientious about cleanliness and safety for all of us including their fellow coworkers. What can I say about the products. Either you think it's a good buy or not. I think a lot of their products are. They have the best Cheerios-type cereal. It is so much better than the original. I've loved Trader Joe's- even more so after the pandemic - Savannah saw that my cilantro had been run over on my way out to the car and she went out of her way to get me an I damaged one. I come here for the pretzel nuggets that have peanut butter and McCanns Irish oatmeal. But I always end up with a cart full when I leave. Out of all the Trader Joe's I have been to this one is by far the best. The shelves are always stocked and the folks working here are the friendliest people in town. Really, they are. My favorite time to come in is around 8:00 AM when they first open... The music is blaring, the workers are singing, stocking shelves, and watering flowers. And there is practically nobody else shopping. Did you know if you find Sasquatch and take him to customer service you can get a lollipop? Yup... And the workers even help children find him. Eating Paleo/Whole30 this place really is a one-stop shop for my food needs. On the occasions when I like to partake in adult beverages they have all you need at great prices. I mean, a case of wine under $40?!? Yes please! The only thing that kind of sucks is the parking lot. It is hell trying to get out of there in the afternoon or early evening. Holy crap the poorness of aisle navigation skills in Olympia really stands out at the opening. Also the abject laziness of one gentleman who grumbled loudly about the big distance from the cart return at the exit, at which there were carts available, to the entrance he planned on using. But really, it's a Trader Joe's. And quite a nice one. I'm glad to see that the dried and such fruit product line has broadened in the years since I moved to Olympia, and while I will never get over the disappointment of a Trader Joe's without hard liquor, the size of this one is pretty good, easily rivaling the one near downtown Bellevue, which seems a pretty bold statement about the perceived size of the Olympia/Tumwater/Lacey market, but I don't think a wrong one. I am sort of tickled by the oft-printed suggestions that Trader Joe's wouldn't add to congestion in the area -- today was nightmarish, and surely that will settle down, but when compared to the other draws in the area, Trader Joe's is undeniably higher-volume and given their typically-early closing time, there's significant pressure on people to go there straight from work, at a time when that intersection is nigh-unnavigable. It's nice to have the limited-selection-but-what-a-deal of Trader Joe's nearby. Triple Ginger Snaps rule ok. read more

I like Trader Joe's. It has that small hometown grocery feel and it's perfect for people with alternate eating styles (vegan, vegetarian, low sodium, gluten free, organic, free range, fair trade, etc) I don't find this to be a place I do all my grocery shopping. I couldn't see myself filling a whole cart, but that's probably because I'm not $$$. Although, you don't have to be rich to shop here. I go here for onesies and twosies. Just to pick up a few things. I know what you may be saying, "You can't put a price on health", but I kind of limit myself to $30 max when I go in here. Mainly because there are quite a few things I'd like to try or just impulse buy and then I walk you with a bill that's $$$. Anyway, I like to get their lunch wraps and vegetarian italian sausages and they have a very delicious brand of their own Oreo's that are sooo good. And they have some really delicious gummy bears. I usually go for the frozen pineapple for my smoothies. They seem to have the perfect tartness and sugariness. They're eggs are pretty cheap too. I've heard the wine selection is really good too, but I don't buy wine there. I'm sure Trader Joes' will grow on me though. read more

A most unfortunate Trader Joe's employee was several steps ahead of me to the bathroom that clearly said unoccupied. He shuttered as he lay gaze upon the degenerate in mid release. Clearly, all of the people who complain about small aisles and "nightmarish" parking haven't had to brave any one of the many Los Angeles area Trader Joe's locations for ten years as I did before I moved here a few weeks ago. I haven't noticed in my trips there so far that there have been a surplus of people, but then again, I'm accustomed to really high-traffic stores (i.e. Santa Monica). I've also become immune to the annoying habits of the typical TJ customer, who generally seems a slightly stoned and disoriented, and who wanders aimlessly about the aisles, stopping at arbitrary moments in order to create unnecessary obstructions when the mood strikes. Though I'm disappointed that I can't buy hard liquor (what's the good in $2 spiced cider when there's no rum!?), I remain a diehard Trader Joe's fan. I was especially excited when I found GF Brownie Mix tonight, and am thinking of petitioning for more GF choices. My conclusion with other stores that carry good GF food selection is that they put the hurt on my wallet, and are only justifiable when I really need a treat. This TJ's has a good selection, but it is always very crowded and is very small in terms of square footage, making navigating when employees are stocking or when its very busy, very difficult. I have also had some very weird interractions with employees here. While overall nice, many of them seem very socially inept and do not communicate well with customers. I have also been carded many times here, which is dumb cuz I am obviously over 30, and the lady this morning carded not me, but insisted on carding my husband, who is very obviously in his mid-30s, for a pack of beer we purchased with our many groceries. And she was not even nice about it. She was borderline rude at 8am. This TJ's needs to step it up. read more

I only visit Trader Joe's to pick up a few items that I regularly use, but for those items this Trader Joe's is great. Like any other TJ's, they have a large selection of inexpensive wine. We also appreciate their selection and pricing of vegetarian meats, such as organic tofu, beefless ground beef, and tempeh. This TJ's always has some kind of food samples available too, plus little coffee shots. And anytime I've had to return an item, they take it and issue a refund no questions asked. Say cheeeeeese Even though I'm not big on organic/health conscience food, I absolutely love this place. The items in stock are not only good for you but wallet friendly as well. My favorite is the cheese section. It's a cheese-heads paradise. And if you stop by on the weekend they even give samples! It's as close as you're going to get to fresh aside from the local farmers market and their prices are better than the Metropolitan Market and Whole Foods (which aren't even in Olympia). I stopped into Trader Joe's with my 80 year old Aunt which it happened to be her Birthday, we were greeted my a gentle man named Todd he was very friendly, helped us find all our items. In our conversation I mentioned I was from San Francisco, Ca and I was there to celebrate my Aunts birthday. He disappeared and came back with flowers for my Aunt which really made her day. This is where I buy my dog food. No really! My little Diego has been on a special diet ever since he had some liver issues, and the frozen jasmine rice is part of his royal feast. :-) The location is not ideal to get to and/or leave if you don't already know your way around, and the parking lot is almost always full on weekends so plan accordingly if it's a wet day. It's pretty much like any other Trader Joes, it's full of everything with their brand named stamped on it. I would advise not throwing everything that looks yummy into your buggy or basket because half the time you're not going to end up liking it (I think I can speak for quite a few people that this is indeed true with their frozen foods). I would highly recommend their un-pasteurized orange juice if you don't have the time to squeeze oranges yourself. Just remember it only lasts a few days! read more

Real food at a good price with great service and consumer friendly business policies - what more could you want? Not a good cook? Hit their frozen aisle - they have you covered whether you are up for Asian, Mexican, Italian, Indian or any of the many other cuisines they have covered. Just be warned that if you aren't into heat/spice you may want to stay clear of the Lamb Vindaloo. A real big difference between what you find in the typical grocery store and the Trader Joe's/Jose's/Giuseppi's/etc. brands is the lack of multi-syllabic chemicals that are in far too many of the foods made by the multinational food companies. The number of organic products keeps growing too. I also love that they have a good variety of products, so when I went looking for marinara without added sugar it was right there waiting for me. The meat section, unfortunately, is one area they can work on. Far too much is packaged up some place far away. The staff at TJ's across the country tend to be much better than average store workers, largely due to the fact that they are treated well (good benes) and paid well. I love supporting businesses that take care of their workers. Good things to know about TJ's (applies to all TJ's) - 1. You can sample any product in the store - just take it to the sample area, 2. What's not to love? I try to stick to a list when I go and always fail miserably. I don't use Trader Joe's for my regular grocery shopping, because although great, lack some of the basic mundane things I need on a daily basis. I count on Joe's for higher quality things that make meals or cooking go more smoothly - nice vanilla, thai simmer sauces, great hummus, delicious crackers. I love the Dorot chopped portioned frozen spices. I could spend hundreds each week there if I let myself. My only complaint about this location is the parking lot. It stinks. But I'll always be back. A trip to TJ'S makes my day. I love the store, the staff, the quality of produce, the Belgian chocolates. As of today, their prices are what they were months ago. Unlike most stores in area, they are at this point riding out the inflation spiral and keeping prices where they were: how they do it, l have no idea, but l appreciate their taking the long view. Produce is fresh, Belgian chocolate on my must have list. And service. Today a man ahead of me in line mentioned it was his first visit and he lived nearby and would be back. He was given a TJ grocery bag and told me he would make it his regular store. Service is over the top. Always someone nearby to reach items l can't, to answer questions. Today l asked about vegan cheese. The store clerk showed me what they have and printed out a three page list of all their vegan items. Store is always neat, fully stocked, beautifully displayed, and l walk out with luscious produce, pasture raised eggs at a price below other groceries in area, and a feeling that there are good people providing great service, and maybe there is hope for this world after all. read more

The staff were friendly and seemed unflustered and excited to being working there, even though the aisles were packed and you could not move easily. We love this place. I wish it wasn't so busy, but the lines move really fast. I appreciate how kind the cashiers are to my son, who is 5. He likes to unload the cart himself which slows the process down. Nobody has ever seemed impatient at all. They usually thank him for helping and give him stickers. The other day, he grabbed a carton of eggs and one fell out and broke. He was near tears, but the cashier calmed him, someone ran to grab another carton, and he even got a lollipop out of it. read more

Hopefully staff will keep monitoring tha and customers can continue to report same while supporting local food banks and services.. I was walked out politely while themanagement checked on that. I'm sitting in my car in tears as I write this review. I was just completely humiliated by this stores staff! I respect their mask policy (even though I have a medical reason to be excluded from one) and I was wearing one. I've shopped here several times without issues. Today, the cashier verbally accosted me, lecturing me about how my mask "isn't good enough to shop here". I was totally blindside by her rude attitude. She was loud, and it drew attention to me, and she called the manager over! I felt like they were about to call the police on me! I don't have a problem with them stating their policy or that my mask isn't up to their standard.. BUT it was 100% unnecessary to be treated so aggressively and with zero compassion or kindness. This is a rough time for all of us, and to lash out at me like she did..not ok. You never know who's hanging by a thread. Don't be the one to clip that thread & send them falling. I will not be supporting this store anymore. I'll give my money to another store. read more
