One thing I love about Trader Joe's is that all of the stores are consistent in terms of layout, product, and friendly staff. I visit this particular store at least 2-3 times a week to stock up on my favorites and enjoy seeing familiar faces, most of whom are friendly and helpful. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of 1 staff member who, on more than 1 occasion, has been rude, passive aggressive, and mostly unpleasant. I make a point to avoid her register because her negativity tends to ruin my shopping experience. Otherwise, I enjoy this store and will continue shopping here as long as I live in the area. read more

Gotta love the variety of new and interesting products they keep bringing in. Only things I have a problem with: 1. Their flowers go bad really really fast.. We are talking two days for a lot of them. 2. Some of their items get moldy in a closed package before due date. This has happened to me a lot and although they're really good about taking items back it's just really inconvenient to go back... So I just buy smaller portions of perishables from them. This is a great Trader Joes! I've been to a number of them, but this one had such great customers and the staff was great too. The customers that shop here were very open to chatting it up. When my friend and I got to the cashier, she was very inviting to her register. We had some idle chatter while she rang up our items. Minus the small store this place is great. The people that work there that I have dealt with have offered help with beer, wine and hard liquor and other things. Like all TJ's they describe flavors and offer food suggestions on the booze, beverages, salads and more. They have a good frozen area selection and the salads are great for a quick lunch, if you're pressed for time at work. I disagree with E.M.M's statement about them all being rude. I may be white, but rich.... no. Not everyone that goes to the store are from the hills or luxurious houses. LOVE LOVE LOVE Trader Joes. There is always something new to try at Trader Joes. Every time we take a trip, we always have wishlists from people at home to shop for! My favorite is the dried fruits. Everyone here is super friendly and seems to love his/ her job! It's such a pleasant environment and people just seem helpful and charismatic. You know going in you'll have a limited selection, but that's the deal here. Refrigerated section has a lot of prepared foods that are mostly pretty tasty. Sometimes favorites get discontinued (no more lox spread!). Mini-hors d'ouevres can be a great deal here for that NYEve party. TJ's is always a good pick. This location is great. Lots of parking. Easy to get to. I love the TJ's tea tree oil facial wash. It's the absolute best. My face feels so clean. It's hard to find healthy snacks, but TJ's has coconut strips. When it comes to cooking, I'm pretty incompetent. Thank goodness for Trader Joe's and their pre-made meals, prepackaged deliciousness and their plethora of jarred sauces where anyone like me can make a decent meal for themselves. My go-to is their summer curry. You basically put it in a pot, add your proteins and veggies and you're good to go. Though it's coming straight from a jar, it still holds a ton of flavor. We've used it both as a sauce and a base - both ways resulting in a fantastic meal. They have some great salads and sandwiches if you're looking for a quick lunch. Add a large bottle of water to your meal, and you have yourself one healthy alternative to fast food for under $5. I get pretty indecisive and end up picking up multiple items, but even then, it's still super affordable. If you're lactose intolerant like I am, they have a great selection of dairy free frozen treats. You might think to yourself, "Yeah right... it can't be good without dairy..." and that's where you're wrong, it's pretty damn similar and if you get the soy based desserts, they still have that great creamy texture that you get from normal ice cream. Win. My only complaint about this location is that it has a super small produce section. By the end of the night it can be pretty picked over in terms of fruits and veggies, so it's best to come early to score the greens (or reds, or yellows... you get my point.) It's also a great place to pick up the Charles Shaw (2 Buck Chuck) for parties. You can even buy it by the case on the cheap! read more

Its been scientifically proven that the grains seeds have been modified to get more yields. By eating these GMO grains and foods leads to weight gain and Cancer. Well there is a alternate bread with no GMO in it , its Ezekiel 4:9. I got mine at Trader Joes. The people who regularly use this bread and who also use brown rice usually are very skinny. I would shop here every day if I could, but quite honestly I am not a huge fan of the parking lot (and current leave-it-be construction on Tustin -- a street I try and avoid in its entirety whenever possible), so I retire to VP Ralphs more often than not... plus some stuff you can't get at Trader Joe's... Ps when people call it "TJ's," I immediately think of either that really shifty looking strip club you pass on Beach Blvd. in Anaheim, or Mexico (*sigh* the college years). read more

I have two male cats that are archenemies. They fight constantly and are seemingly always looking to piss one another off. Aside from the general hissing & batting, they also do something that I like to call the "relax off". The relax off happens when they find themselves in the same room, but are too tired to be aggressive. One will lay down, yawn, and look dismissively at the other. The second cat will then up the ante, usually by lying on his back, exposing his stomach and gross cat butt. The first cat will mimic this movement, and get progressively more relaxed, by stretching his paws out or similar. This continues until both cats fall asleep, having failed to resist the temptation of relaxation. The employees at trader joe's seem to also be in some sort of relax off. Everyone there is soo chill, all the time. The lines will get a little long, but every employee keeps their composure. I always wonder what job interviews for Trader Joe's entail. Just when I think I've met the mellowest person yet, I go back and am more impressed than before. Perhaps it is all the gluten free, organic, pure, vegan groceries they sell. Regardless of the reason, everyone there is pleasant as hell. The salad dressing is delicious and low calorie. Name another food that is both of those things. You can't, can you? I also enjoy their hummus, Aria protein powder, won-tons, greek salad and assortment of chocolate things. read more

I would argue that there is something wrong with anyone who does not give this place five stars. "Trader Joe's" actually translates to "Five Stars" in Swahili. Not a lot of people know that. Seriously, this place is great. If you've never been, its a little grocery store that sells mostly house brand items. And the house brand items are typically A-MAZE-ING. My personal all-time favorite is the truffle and wild mushroom flatbread. It's in the frozen section, and it is a delicacy. Seriously. It's $3.99, and that is a shocking, unbelievable value. If it were at Stater Brothers, it would be the same price but only 25% of the quality. If it were at Whole Foods, it would be $8.99. And if it were offered as an app at a nice restaurant it would be $14. But this is Trader Joe's were talking about here. They also have great... ...shaving cream, fresh fruits, house-brand bagels, coffee beans, crackers, cookies, juice, honey-roasted peanuts and frozen foods. Also an AWESOME selection of cheese. Mmmm I love cheese. They also have lots of imported stuff. Their Pizza Margarita is handmade in Italy and another staggering value-for-money story. My mom swears they smuggle heroin to make up from the profits they cannot be making on all this awesome food. Also, the employees at Trader Joe's are helpful, friendly, and overall they seem happy enough to be there. That means one of two things: they treat their people really well, or they are giving them low doses of that heroin they've been smuggling all these years. Either way, it makes for a very pleasant shopping experience for the customer. One tip: If a new item shows up that you fall in love with, drive down there the next day and stock up. Fill your freezer with it. They have a habit of coming out with great stuff and three months later its gone. But if you have a freezer full, you'll be sittin' pretty when the big quake hits, chowing down on fried mac-and-cheese balls or peanut butter goodies. That's the good life right there. I used to come to this Trader Joe's a lot when I lived in Orange, but now it's always a toss up between this one and the one by South Coast. I came here yesterday though because my fridge was sad and empty, and now it's filled to the brim [along with my cabinets and my belly]. They were out of a few things that I really wanted to get [4 cheese sourdough and onion bagels being 2 of them], but I found a bunch of other random things that I probably didn't really need. The staff is always super friendly. They opened up a second register as soon as I walked up because the gal in front of me had also gone on a crazy Trader Joe's shopping spree like me. I was shocked at the fact that I spent almost $80 and only walked out with 3 bags of groceries [they were heavy, but still]. Maybe I'm just too used to shopping at Fresh & Easy [plus my employee discount coupons] or since I usually do periodic shopping throughout the week, but it still seemed like a TON of money to spend. Some of the items were definitely worth it though: sundried tomato pesto dip + everything bagel chips are so FTW. I know I won't see you for awhile TJ's... but you know I'll be back. read more

I think 100% of my grocery shopping has been at Trader Joe's, and this is the only location I've gone to so far. I love this store. A friend of mine was telling me about how she got mochi ice cream from this place, so I went there one day to buy myself a box. Delicious stuff. I went ahead and did my full-blown grocery shopping there as well, and was sure not disappointed. The prices are great. $0.29 for a batch of bananas? Wonderful. $2.99 for a big ol' bag of tortilla chips? Cool. $1.99 for chocolate soy milk? Awesome. As far as the size of the store goes, I wasn't sure what to expect, but apparently other Trader Joe's locations are bigger. Even the one down the street from my work is 2x as big. Either way, for a small grocery store, they sure have everything I need and the place is quite clean. It does get pretty crowded, but it's still manageable. Parking isn't too bad if you park a little far from it (more towards CVS, so to speak). Love this store. Also, their chocolate almond spread is amazing. A great store. I just moved to Orange. I am used to big chain stores. It is like a neighborhood market. I know it is a chain. It doesn't seem that way. They have a friendly staff and lots of items that I have never seen. It all looks good. My new job requires that I work different locations, in radically different cities in southern california. This just so happens to be our friendly neighborhood Trader Joe's and I love it! Yes it is petite but it has a ton of personality. I like the staff, I think they are friendly and helpful and you can't beat the price or quality. I think I am there just about every other day because I am always forgetting something small like Soy Milk or Frozen BBQ Teriyaki Chicken (If you have not already done so, you should! It's AWESOME!!). I find no matter what time of day, the employees are friendly and always very helpful. A few reviews of this location complain of the customers being rude...I will agree there are a few buxom-botox soccer MILFs talking loudly on their cell phones as they reach across you at the cheese or meat case drowning in way to much perfume, who do not say excuse me or acknowledge your existence, all the while ignoring their "meal ticket". I'm sorry I meant to say...ill-raised demon spawn (With what I am sure is the mother's original nose) as they throw temper tantrums and run around the store with ZERO manners. That is not enough to deter me from coming back. I've found the majority of people who shop here are normal friendly people looking for a good value, quality and service for their dollar. read more

Well, I LOURVE Trader Joes. Like most, I love the variety, prices and inclusiveness, particularly their private label. Although most believe that everything sold here is deemed HEALTHY, buyer beware! This is not necessarily true! You must be proactive and read your labels! I always say that if you cant understand an ingredient or if the words look like gibberish, dont buy it! Although Trader Joes carries organic, gluten-free, vegan, kosher, low-sodium, non-GMO Food, some of their items have preservatives/ additives and even food coloring. Yes I know, food coloring is in everything in America! There is a reason why it's banned in the UK for it being scientifically proven to effect behavior! Google it! Anyhow, truly, Trader Joes is always worth the stop and although this particular location gets really busy (think they all do), best times to hit the store is between 9-3 weekdays. They always have a well knowledged wine connoisseur on staff to help you with your selection. The staff is always friendly and helpful! I especially love Seng who has been there a while. He always has a smile on his face and it always so helpful! Following are some of my favorite foods from Trader Joes! Worth the try for you new bees! 1. Artichoke Spinach Dip (reason I eat bread with salad) it's FABULOUS! 2. Frozen Mango pieces. You get a 1 lb. Bag for under $2.50 and there are no preservatives or artificial coloring. It's flash frozen and super convenient so that I don't have to cut up fresh Mango. Great for pureeing and making baby food! 3. Fire Roasted Vegetables with Balsamic Butter Sauce (frozen section). I use this to make a "half homemade" dinner in Super Mom time! I cut and add two chicken breast to this mix after sautéing in very little garlic olive oil. I sometimes add more green beans, cherry tomatoes and button mushrooms. Great with brown rice or Quinoa. The Roasted Vegetables on their own are only 70 cal. For 1/2 cup. FABULOUS! Cooking time is under 20 min. Including prep time. Daddy's happy and Mommy's sane! 4. Vegetable Medley (frozen section). Yummy and cheap! Yes it has a little bit of butter sauce, but the caloric intake isn't major. I cheat and use this as a side for Thanksgiving! Always a hit. This too is under $3. 5. Almond Butter with Sea Salt. Smooth, natural and yummier than peanut butter. Try it on toast or rice cake. 6. Low sodium Trader Joe broths. Yummy! Great for soups. 7. Organic Quinoa! Not always easy to find, nutty flavored grain best cooked with chicken broth for more flavor. Unlike wheat or rice, Quinoa contains a balanced set of essential amino acids making it a complete unusually high protein source among plant foods. It is also a good source of dietary fiber and is naturally gluten-free. Bottom line, Quinoa is a better choice over other grains I believe. Husband still prefers rice, but eats this because of the nutritional value. It's light, fluffy and yummy! Great with fish! 8. Season Mahi-Mahi (frozen section). Naturally season, this taste best straight from the pan. Yes, your house will smell like fish, but it tastes so much better than baking, I have not yet perfected grilling fish, so I cannot speak to that. I am sure it would be equally tasty. The price is right, no additives or preservatives, it's flash frozen and quick to make (5-6 min each side). only thing is, I think the fish is farm raised! I'll have to update this review when I find out. 9. Every Thanksgiving, I do cheat a make Trader Joes Cornbread Stuffing. I slave over the Turkey, green beans and mash potatoes for 3-days straight. So by the time I get to stuffing, I don't want to make it from scratch. Plus, I really don't eat it, so who cares! LOL! It's really for the family. But the Trader Joes Cornbread Stuffing is always a hit. I do bake it, adding in more dried cranberries and I use broth instead of water. BAM! 10. Trader Joes Gravy, again for thanksgiving. I don't eat it, think Gravy is gross knowing how it is made, so I buy it. Everyone always LOVES it. So, kudos for TJoes Gravy. Makes my life easier. ;) read more
