What a great market! Lots of options for dining, drinking, and buying. There's also a bakery that smells so good. Decent prices all around, and they have a nice array of options in the fresh produce section. I especially love all of the dried peppers and cheeses! The ceviches, guac, and salsa are sooooooo fresh and good here!!!!! YUM!!! The ceviches have the perfect amount of citrus and brightness. Starting to salivate just thinking about it. The salsas are accurate in their spice level (I like it exxxxxtra spicy) and even tho it's super easy to make guac at home, they have one for a great price and as fresh as you can get. I love getting produce here! Iykyk! Literally an unbeatable price to get your citrus, peppers, and herbs. I also picked up some of their tamales from the hot bar but found them to be so hard, dry, and greasy. Would def skip them next time. The soup here is more addictive than crack cocaine. I made the mistake of taking chicken soup to a hospital and now it's the only thing the patient will eat. So it's also kind of life saving soup, and everyone around smells this soup and asks where it's from. IF YOU'RE WHITE AND DON'T FULLY SPEAK SPANISH DON'T COME HERE! I loved coming here and the one in Santa Ana, has been my families go to store since I was a teenager. So as a Hispanic when I started recommending this store to my father in law and my husband (who was then my boyfriend) they started going. Recently, when my father in law started going with my husband by themselves, they get dirty looks and at check out they get looked at like they did something wrong FUCHI face in other words. This last time my father in law went alone and went to the meat counter and while waiting his turn he can hear an employee speaking English. Unfortunately for him he got that employee and she acted as if she didn't understand him and passed him off to the next person who was trying really hard to help him out. Now mind you my father in law tries to say some things in Spanish like the number of lbs or if he wants beef or chicken, but the fact that the other employee did that really made him feel like shit because he's gone there many times before and has tried to communicate in Spanish with them. As a Hispanic I'm ashamed that this store prides on inclusivity but their employees don't. read more

I purchased 2 pieces of steak from this location. The next day I cooked it. Appeared to be normal. When we cut into our meat. It was in layers. Yes, LAYERS. I called this store the gave me a female manager. Who's said repeatedly "I don't speak English " I put both pieces back in the packaging. Headed to the store. Again asking for the manager, a clerk pointed at register 3, there she is. After showing her my meat. Again she replied " I don't speak English " then out of nowhere she told me she would speak to her meat department. In English. I said its not the meat departments fault its your buyer. Besides the armed security guard outside the experience was very positive. A very well organized store with a great produce section. Fresh veggies and fruits. Northgate Markets have really good soup in the hot food section. I have had the beef and the chicken, both are really good, but their chicken soup is super good, especially if your not feeling well. The chicken soup is not made everyday so call ahead to see if they have it. When calling, its option 1 for the Kitchen. They also have a mango cake thats really good. Also, a super yummy cake called Rosca De Nuez. It looks kind of like a bundt cake. Im not sure whats in it, but its addictive. It has, I believe, a sprinkling of chopped walnuts on the top. One of my coworkers told me that it tastes like a Filipino Torta (I've never had a torta, but if you like them, you will probably like this cake.). read more

I really like Northgate Market. I came here because of their produce department. I am an alkaline vegan and I can only eat burro or baby bananas which aren't carried in the big chain grocery stores like Albertsons and Vons. Northgate Market has burro bananas. The store has a meat department and a nice bakery. This grocery store carries products from Mexico and it caters to the Mexican culture. The parking is very tight but there was a security guard there directing traffic. Overall, I would definitely come back for the fruits and vegetables. read more

I've been shopping at Northgate markets for over 15 years now and what I've experienced is disappointment with dishonest employees and management. This last incident happened on 01/25/2025 that broke the camels back... I've been experiencing theft in front of my eyes ... the cashier and bag person including managers seem to be in on it... every other time I shop here and check out and once I get home there's seems to be missing paid for items that were on my shopping list once I get home. This last incident I had my family come down from out of town for a funeral so we stopped in Northgate at this location to pick up ingredients to make pozole ... I had warned my family just before we walked in the market what I experienced in the past... always missing items that were charged to me but never left the store only to have the cashier place it at his/her register... I have always come back and the same story claiming I left it behind... which I say is a complete lie! What they do while your distracted they get what they want to take from you and place it to the side or at the bottom of the register which has a shelf like.. and every time I come back they (employees) claim I so-called forgot it... funny how this never happens when I shop at Ralph's or Stater brothers-this last incident my family members and I drove back home which is not close by ... once we started to remove all paid items to make our posole - we discovered that all the meat purchased was missing.. I was really upset because this was family time with my family from out of town... embarrassing I went back to the market with the same cashier (Victor) was his name... I approached with my complaint and he stated that I had taken everything... I disagreed with him and he recommended I speak to management... a young lady approached us and ask what seems to be the problem... at this time I had explained my situation ... which then she summoned someone above her to call security and check the register cameras.... A call was made by upper management and we were told to go have a seat at the cocina (kitchen ) area of the market because we were told this may take 15 min for the investigation. We complied walked to the kitchen area and waited patiently... we noticed that all mentioned parties were in a huddle talking... then the young lady floor supervisor comes to our area to have a seat not sure if she was on a break of a coincidence or eavesdropping on our conversation... yes I was sitting explaining to my family that this happens often not only at this location but the other Anaheim location off Raymond and Romneya... items are always missing when getting home... I had mentioned out loud that I would complain to the BBB this time... the young lady supervisor must have heard this and summoned the cashier Victor to us to let us know that the bag was taken by the customer behind us... I say not true. No way! He advised us that we can go to the back to the carniceria and they would provide the meat that was taken... this was unprofessional in my opinion because management should have taken care of this and not sending us back there alone ... I approached the counter explaining to the same person that assisted us before and explained the situation-he then summoned I believe someone above him name Salvador... which he approached with a huge grin on his face like he knew what had happened... he then asked an associate to help us which I handed over the sales receipt and advised him I want the exact same meat on the receipt... as this was happening we noticed Salvador opening up packages that seemed to look like the same meat we purchased... coincidence I think NOT. He was in on it. He even looked at us while he was placing the meat back to the sales counter with a huge smile... I find very disrespectful as this was an inconvenient experienced for us... he was mocking us I felt ...this was not the end of this- we get home and my sister which was the one that ordered the meat in the first place stated they have giving us more bones than meat... I was very upset because I spent $171.65 on this day only to have given meat with more bones for our pozole ... I always spend $150-300 of my hard earned money that I work hard for... Northgate will not get a penny from me anymore. I will shop at other Mexican markets as I am done with Northgate... I hope other people read this horrible experience I've encountered and never shop there. If you want to shop there... buyer be aware! read more

I never would've known or given this Northgate a chance had it not been for the Upside app. I came here and was baffled as to why this store was in the tiniest parking lot and location. Once I walked inside I was pleasantly surprised at how cute this location was. This Northgate looks like it's tiny from the outside but I think it's almost the same size on the inside as a normal Northgate. This location seemed less crowded than other locations I've been to, but the quality and cleanliness of this location was not sacrificed at all. I came here looking for a few produce items and left with 2 bags filled with groceries for the week! My favorite item I bought were the bolillos! I haven't had a good bolillo in a long time and even though the prices went UP, the bolillos still slapped! This parking lot is TIGHT but if you need to go to Northgate, I would recommend this location since it's not as crazy busy as the other locations. read more

My kids wanted some sweets so we stopped in to grab some concha and cookies. It was packed with people and great deals. The have all the produce, seafood and meats. There was a juice bar, they sell empanadas and meals to go, cheeses and cakes and cookies. Reminds me of Middle Eastern produce stores or big Asian markets. Honestly don't enjoy shopping here. There isn't enough room for the carts to maneuver around the running kids, the store restocking the shelves in the middle of the day, and getting around the long lines for the cocina/deli/meat areas. It's very loud inside the store, the signs for the aisles don't list all the items so it's hard to find things. The kicker is the parking lot. Be prepared to have to fight for your life here. If someone isn't running you over while u exit/enter, someone is nearly crashing into your car, or there's a panhandler in the parking lot. In the last week I've had 2 incidents where I was crossing to the parking lot and someone's car stopped inches away from me. They need to put up cones to control the flow of traffic. This is so bad. I've never ever had this problem anywhere else EVER in my life. Please do something. read more

Northgate is giving off major Whole Food vibes with the hot foods, packaged foods, juice bar, etc. My go to items here are the agua fresca, fresh guacamole bar and the packaged desserts in the fridge. My favorite find at Northgate is the 72 oz of agua fresca for $8.99. It comes in a refillable bucket and has enough servings for a small party. Unless you're someone like me who can probably finish the entire jug in 2 days. I don't believe they are doing refills on these refillable jugs due to COVID. I'd ask an associate to confirm. This market has a good selection of produce, spices, meats, snacks, desserts, etc. It's a great spot for you to go grocery shopping, do last minute pick ups before a party or just have a quick lunch. This market has everything! Came here on a crazy Christmas Eve night and they saved the day. They even had some Tamales left! This place has most Latin American Cuisine items one might be after unless it's super specific, but mainly focuses on Mexican foods. They have a food court inside with Mexican foods as well! All the food I tried was delicious. If your looking for an item for a Mexican dish that you can't find at your local grocery store, than this is the place! Having coming to this plaza numerous times to go to the chiropractor, I passed by Northgate Market a lot without actually going in. Like...a lot a lot. So one day, finally decided to go in. Really wish I had done that earlier! Overall, Northgate just gives you way more options for food than a typical American supermarket and for WAY cheaper too. Their meat selections are usually what I go for, especially the marinated leg meat which is $2/lb. SOOOO cheap! In fact, their meat overall is just really cheap. Other great things I've seen here are premade guacamole, shrimp ceviche, chorizo, salsa, tamales...yeah, waaaaay more variety than American markets. They even have a massive bakery that is way better than anything I've seen at any other market. Everything is fresh and cheap. This is my usual go to place for groceries as it is near my house but I also can go to Albertsons which is near as well. I usually come here and the service is okay for the most part. However, today was something different and an embarrassing moment. My mother and I were in the lane with the cashier named Jeremy. He was doing everything fine but doesn't greet anyone, just very monotone. He scanned the items but no one was there to bag the items. He didn't attempt to bag them either but I had to.
